Part 1:
Ragini was shy girl. Her life control was always in her daadi maa hand, who took decisions on her behalf. Her mother was a timid woman who hardly spoke. Her father had bowed down to the supremacy of her mother. He never went against her except for the time when his mother asked him to get remarried oly for the sake of a boy child.
Ragini had dreamed of being independent. Her mother did not go to school. Thus she felt education to be necessary. It was one sudden day that she came from college andd found too many people surrounding her house. Puzzled Ragini went straight to her maa and asked " Maa what is this happening? Why are so many people in our house?
Before her mother could answer her daadi replied" Are choori your marriage has got finalized. They are very big people. You should be happy now you too can be lucky of getting a good guy just as your mother"
She looked upon her mother" Haan Ragini whatever your daadi is saying is true. The family is good. The boy is an army man. He will keep you very happy" said Janki.
"But maa I haven't even completed my studies" she said with almost tears in her eyes.
"What are you speaking girl?" her daadi spoke out with shock "How can you even think about college". Then looking towards Janki she said" Now its your work to make your mad daughter understand that she would not go to college anymore. Tomorrow damaad ji is coming and tell her to behave well".
Next day Ragini wore a heavy orange colour saree with heavy embroidery and pallu on her head. She had tray of tea cups in her hand as she came out to serve them to Aryan and his family.
As discussion went ahead Ragini and Aryan were sent in the room to have a conversation.
Her mother had told her many times of not talking about her futher studies to Aryan. They did not talk much when Ragini in her curiosity spoke about her will to continue her studies. What went through Aryan mind that that he straight walked of the house. Everyone were shocked at this.
Next three-four days her daadi kept giving her taunts. When one sudden day she heard of the marriage alliance again being formed. It was on her marriage day that she got to know that the marriage was formed only because her daadi and her father giving dowry to her sasural wale. She wanted to oppose it but had no say and was forced to get married to Aryan.
...
Even after marriage, Ragini had become a perfect bahu, devrani but not a patni. Aryan came home occasionally and even when he came he slept in his mother's room, ate from her hand and stayed distant from Ragini. During their six months marriage he hardly spoke to her. Ragini on the other hand would be busy in her worked day and night. Got up before everyone, slept at the last, ate the left over and sometimes nothing. Her life was hell but somewhere she was prepared for it.
Her life went out normal, even when her husband was around. She had dreams like any other married woman would have. Yet when one day a news came which changed her life completely.
