You are absolutely right. Here's what I got out of it which I think is probably the most significant change in Dev's character growth.

If Ishwari had said the same sentence in the same voice before (say back when Dev and Sona were dating or even in the early days of their marriage), Dev's instinctive reaction would have been guilt. That was always Ishwari's whip to make Dev dance to her tunes.

She injects 80% sadness, 10% pretence of sacrifice, 10% teary/shiny eyes and 100% manipulation to get Dev to feel guilty for letting her down.

In the past, when he first fell in love, he felt uneasy with his own happiness. It was all new for him. Just like when someone who has been abused for very long time, feels awkward if someone hugs them or treats them with love. They wonder if it's okay for them to accept that love or if they even deserve their own happiness.

But now Dev is slowly starting to realize that he deserves to be loved and that Sona's love is not going to go away. Now he is taking Ishwari's words at face value because that's where his happiness lies. He is no longer looking for catch or hidden meanings behind his mother's expression because now he knows that he will ruin his and Sona's happiness if he keeps looking for hidden messages.

Added to the fact is his acceptance of Sona as his own which is also guiding him to solidify their relationship.

That was the best scene for me in yesterday's episode, may be because i wanted it. Well Ishwari's dialogue of changes after marriage were enough to take Dev into a guilt trip. He didn't liked it when his mom says everything is changing. He never wanted anything to change and his expressions showed that how much worried he was about this change. As rightly said by swayam shekhwat, that change is the only constant and its high time that Dev should accept it and move forward with it. Just like Ishwari he also needs to accept these changes with smile. He should not feel guilty which his mother wants him to be.

When he went to his room, he was packed with emotions and as you rightly pointed out he understood that sona is his responsibility. It will indeed mark lot of things in Devakshi's relationship. And next day he fed her breakfast without feeling guilty and even told his mom with a happy face.

Sona's conversations with Dev was significant in many ways. One she is no damsel in distress and she will need his support to solve her problems and not him to solve her problems. Two, in future tracks, Devakshi relationship will go through tough times, and Dev's support will make her strong to fight with those problems.

@ BOLD...so very true...these are two aspects of Sona's character that Dev needs to understand and respect.

Let me start by saying that this was the best scene of the episode. I felt this time Dev didn't feel guilty abt spending time with Sona, he instead was sad that his mother starts questioning his loyalties and priorities towards his mother n sisters whenever such situation arise when he chose to spend time with his wife. I think he has started noticing that Ish doesn't like when he chose Sona over Ish or his family.

When he entered the room, he was pretty disturbed about it, maybe he wantes to share his pain with Sona but when he sees Sona is sleeping, the next best thing to do other than sharing his pain, is to take care of her. But when she realises his presence, n keeps her head on his lap without even opening her eyes, Dev feels loved. Maybe he realises, Sona never doubts his love or demands anything from him. He is happy to see her finding comfort in his lap. Sona is just happy to be with him, no demands, no conditions, just love.

All the while in his life...he had to provide and satisfy his family with materialistic/financial aspects...even for his mom he had to provide for her happiness by building a house , clothes medicines etc ..., where as when Sona kept her head on his lap without even opening her eyes...he is overwhelmed by the thought that she is finding comfort in him and is just happy with his presence...even while applyin that cream on her leg , he asks her abt the pain...all she says come give me tight hug then my pain will reduce...So all she asks from him is the emotional support...and I am sure he is going to be happy about this new found feeling for her...

After sr he began to understand her in a different dimention &realized her every efforts to be a part of his family. .that's a first step in his martial life.

Now may be this is the second step he took her as his responsibility without any cliche and guilt. Now openly he will care for her shows his love for her and that will create more fear in Ishwari's heart..hmm let's wait and watch what will unfold for us ..

@ BOLD...Ishwari helped him to do that , her gyan once back home from temple helped him to take this so called "responsibility towards his wife" seriously !!

Thanks you Ishwari for such small mercies !!👏

Could not agree more. In fact, i had stated the same in the original post ... Dev has not accepted Sona as a part of his family yet.. one to be protected at all costs and one to be put up with at all costs.

Elaborating further, Sona is a part of him.. and he is a person who has been sacrificing all along for all his family members.. Deep down, because he has accepted that He and Sona are one, he expects Sona to put up with his family members just the way he does.. It is about sacrifices, sometimes meaningless ones... He becomes raving mad, when it comes to protecting "his" family. He does not mind if he gets insulted in the process.

if one were to go back in time to the earlier episodes, he could do anything to get Sona to be his mom's nutritionist.. he never bothered if he was insulted or not.. Like Sona asking him to leave her office and wait for his turn.. or Sona's taunts at him that he is mannerless. what mattered the most was his objective of getting things for his family, even at the cost of his own self-respect.

Unfortunately, Sona is just that little different.. she is probably more sacrificing (like giving her last note to Saurabh for his interview - her purse is shown empty) but evaluates where it is worth, unlike Dev. She cannot put up with meaningless demands.. it is this that may be going to cause rifts between Dev and Sona..

I also termed the episode yesterday as ""intermission"", meaning that i foresee the second half starting... i think we are heading towards the promo where Dev and Sona are seated at the table outdoors and Dev tells Sona - Ma, is rishta se kabhi kush nahi rahegi...The signs of it are seen where Dev has, of late, been shown to be pondering at some of the words of his mother.. he is forming an impression for sure that Ishwari is not happy with his relationship with Sona.. but the reality may be actually different.. again, going to show that decisions of the heart are taken by the head. He is being lead by his head and not his heart...

@ BOLD...agreed 100%...just wondering what would be his reaction after he realises that his mom has not accepted her completely. Would he feel bad that his mom got him married because of his "zidh" . Would it make him think that as usual Sonakshi was right abt this aspect too...

My only prayer is that he shouldnt disown her again because of his mom...I can understand Sona walking out the relationship and Dev trying to get her back ...but not Dev kicking her out of his house!!

Well written !! Agreed completely that his acceptance of Sona as his own is helping DevAkshi relationship !! This is more of an initial stage..he needs to work more in making this relatioship work...and she will need to support and encourage him !!
