Neha is a very interesting character.

Every success comes at the price of someone else's sacrifices. Success is never the achievement of the person who succeeds alone, but a major chunk of the credit goes to those people around him/her who sacrifice their happiness so that the other succeeds. Ishwari's sacrifice for Dev was out of her own choice but Neha was never given a choice. Ishwari put Dev before her at every point in their childhood. I find Neha's decision to marry Ranveer stemming out of her inner conscious that wants to punish Dev. From the beginning she knew the life she wanted. She wanted luxury, wealth, pampering and no responsibilities. From the start she knew she was not going to get all this if she married Ranveer. But her inner conscious made her gravitate towards Ranveer and his poverty so that she could punish Dev by keeping demand after demand in front of him, For money and luxuries of life. She chose Ranveer so that she could emotionally blackmail Dev all her life punishing him for the bad time she went through in her childhood. It can be argued that Neha could have lead a luxurious life living unmarried. But this wouldn't have been much of a torture to Ishwari and Dev. Her constant bickering about Ranveers family, demand for money and blaming Dev and Ishwari for her plight is a better revenge.

But little did she know that the husband she chose for herself had a spine. Ranveer refused any kind of help from Dev and warned Neha against asking for help from her brother. Neha was not expecting this and returned back to Dev's house because her plan of revenge was not working. (Note: by plan of revenge I do not mean a deliberate plan by her but her sub conscious want to cause Dev and Ishwari some discomfort)

Neha is not a bad person. It's just that her experiences in her childhood had a negative impact on her. Her childhood taught her that love is conditional. She always saw Ishwari Equating love with Usefulness. The day Neha realises her self worth she will change as a person. This will happen gradually..

Try and remember an event (positive or negative) that occurred in your childhood that deeply impacted you... it could be anything. Ponder over it and think how that event affects your behaviour either positively or negatively as an adult... you will be surprised how much that childhood episode colours your behaviour as an adult.

Because so much is left unsaid it's up to us to interpret.

In my opinion Neha didn't understand Ranvir enough. She didn't know that he won't take help from Dev. That's where her superficial issues started

Yes its her bitter childhood which neha has still not been able to over come ..She did have a love marraige with Ranveer .knew his conditones before too .but yes she dint understand him fully ..she still compares him with her bro knowing veey well how much self respect means for him ..

A thought provoking post. Neha is one of my favourite characters in this show. Even when they were showing the depth of Ishwari- Dev bond they used Neha to show us the mirror. The reality of the mother Ishwari. It was a fascinating watch. A daughter who was so scarred for life that she never wanted to be a mother, who doesn't allow her own mother to show affection saying she is not used to it!!!

I won't say she wanted to take revenge from Dev when she agreed for the marriage because she was clear on her expectations from him and her character even if very well hold grudges never plots. She doesn't have a proper guide and lacks emotional maturity another Dixit trait. All her life she was overlooked and under appreciated. She wanted to be the priority for someone once in her life. When Ranveer gave priority to his family keeping Neha's wishes aside when he clearly knew what she wanted caused her to react. She didn't want to live her child hood again her wishes trampled again n again and without the luxury she worked all her life for. This girl just needs a friend to guide her to realise her self worth to stand on her own and not to depend on either Dev or Ranveer for her needs. She will come around but with help.

Thanks for the reply..😊 I have tried to explain Neha from the point of view of her sub conscious in relation to Dev and Ishwari. By revenge I do not mean she would out right plan and plot to hurt Dev or Ishwari. For that we have Gareeb ki beti. 😆 But Because of her sub conscious 'anger' towards Dev and Ishwari she twists the scenarios to induce pity for herself and guilt for Dev and Ishwari.

Yes she wanted her to be Ranveers first priority as you have correctly mentioned, though she knew from the start Ranveer could never make her his first priority. For once she wanted the world to revolve around her. What she is after is Self Importance rather than Self Worth. This is a side which you have mentioned is about Neha in relation to Ranveer.

Thanks for the reply 😊 as you said it is for us to interpret.. there are so many facades to Neha.. the sub conscious reaction towards Dev Ishwari, Comparison to Dev, Wanted to be someone's top priority.. All these are her way of self preservation. Her reaction to the childhood that is the main cause for all the problems now.

Agree wid u to some extent ...

I dont think neha married ranveer for revenge ...but i guess she misunderstood him ...she knew ranveer wont take anything as gift frm dev but it got more complicated wen she realised ranveer wont take even help also ...

Because of lack of education she doesn't have the confidence that she is of any good. She admires Sona for her independence. If she is able to support herself and work to achieve her dreams she will also start loving her life and turn less bitter.
