PREFACE

When I wrote my first story about guardian angels, it was on a whim. The second one was out of frustration. This tale, the third one, is the result of trying to fathom what exactly Sanskaar must have been thinking in that fraction of a second, between him catching her and letting her fall.

Here are the caps: holds her, thinks, makes up his mind and then...lets her fall!

****Sigh**** he is too good is he not?

Anyway, back to this tale, I also wrote this also because I could not resist when Viji wanted to know if there would be a sequel to Kosmos & Swara encounter, a confrontation between Vilasini and Sanskaar. I had replied that given my state of mind at that time, it would be more of Vilasini egging Sanskaar on and would be titled "Rage of the Angels".😉

I could not, however, get rid of that idea and finally wrote this story, after all I could not refuse Viji.🤗🤗

It does not have Vilasini encouraging Sanskaar per se, but lets him know where he was wrong. Swara is wrong, I still stick to that stand, but Sanskaar was not very right either, was he? Before you start taking sides, do read.😊

Further, it is also an attempt to make up, sort of, for the extremely melancholy OS - Metanoia, which most of the readers have said, 'induced them to tears.' (though for a me, as a writer, it is the greatest compliment, I could receive)

And as is my wont, I have completely ignored what they spoke at that point and the subsequent Nikhil scenes (he irritates me as much as Deadwood did, I am christening him as... Pus Pod and he makes me sick😡😡)

But this story is the last in this series, for a multiple reasons:

First, it was a good idea when I started off but one which would be stretching the idea to the point of beating it to death, if I wrote one more tale.

Second, this tale itself has turned out to be a little preachy (the spelling is correct, it is not a peachy tale😆)

Third, the most practical one, I have exhausted most of the names of colours and hues and had to resort to "The Phrontistery" where new and/or made-up words for colours are listed. I have given the Chromatic index in the footnotes and references post.

Last, with the ending that I have written, there is no meaningful fun in the Guardian Angels appearing again.

I have posted the story in the post below. It can be read as a standalone piece, but for those readers wishing to catch up with the earlier ones, the links are as below:

Vilasini Visits - Guardian Angel I

Kosmos Connection - Guardian Angel II

And as usual, all feedback is welcome: Good (😳), Bad (😭) and Ugly().

To all my Readers: May you find happiness.

And wishing you a very happy Diwali. May the light always lead your way.

Notes and References:

Note 1:

Zooterkins - A 17th century variant of "zounds!"- Which was an expression of surprise or indignation.

Note 2: The Chromatic Index (in the order they appear in the story):

Atrous jet black

Aurulent gold-coloured

Flammeous flame-coloured

Chartreuse yellow-green colour

Smalt deep blue

Chrysochlorous greenish-gold

Albicant whitish

Coquelicot brilliant red; poppy red

Azuline blue

Note 3:

The quote: "In every demon..." has been credited to too many people, hence I am unable to let you know who is the author of the same. But it is a lovely quote, nonetheless.

So very beautiful Nynu...I just LOVED it. The conversation between Vilasini and Sanskaar was top notch, an amazing insight as you what makes him tick, what his deepest, most dearly held, unvocalized desires and expectations are.

All he ever wanted, was an equivalent faith and adoration which he poured with so much verve, with every fiber of his being. He never demanded that reciprocation, but quietly waited in the hope that his immensely potent affections would not go unrequited.

Swara never learned not to take him for granted. And one of the reasons is definitely this, which Vilasini gently reminds him of...that Sanskaar always indulged Swara's hare brained interventions and obsessively compulsive interference in matters which most of the time were not her business, or at best, concerned her only tangentially.

Sanskaar's unconditional love and support became so customary for her, it was no longer regarded as a sine qua non. To a certain degree, Swara is so completely certain that Sanskaar would forgive her, understand her, adjust to her whims and desires and place her interests above all else; she has begun to take him for granted.

A relationship cannot truly flower on such a basis. Ultimately, the partner getting away with negligent or callous behavior, becomes more and more careless of the others' emotions. And the partner doing the indulging, slowly starts accumulating the sense of betrayal, hurt and resentment.

Vilasini's advice is perfect...he really needs to let Swara earn her forgiveness this time. He should soothe her wounds, kiss her scrapes and keep an eye out to make sure she isn't too badly lacerated. But promptly welcoming her back with open arms, will actually harm Swara as a person in the long run. For what would she have learned from this bitter episode?

I have never agreed with the half baked analysis some people trot out, that Swara is the perfect, immaculate character. No person is that untainted and lacking in negatives!! All of us are human, all of us have flaws, all of us have gray shades.

Sanskaar does. Lakshya does. Ragini does. And so does Swara. It's high time Sanskaar realized that, and let Swara realize that, too.

A big round of 👏👏 to you for finding and including that quote "In every angel and demon hides, in every demon an angel strides " . So very superbly profound. I hadn't heard of it before, I just loved it and have filed it away in my list of favorites.

Loved this 3rd installment of the Guardian Angel series. And I am so glad you acceded to my request, that you think of a repeat meeting between Sanskaar and Vilasini. I just loved how perceptive and insightful Vilasini is here----a fitting guardian angel to the Sanskaar indeed 😉, and I dare say, to the creator of this remarkable series, too. 😉 😊 One thing I absolutely adored here Nynu----your explanation as to why Vilasini appears the way she does (to Sanskaar), and why Kosmos appears the way he does (to Swara). That articulation, that personification of their deepest held desires, their poignant yearning for something intangible and precious...So moving. 👏 👏

While I am very sad to see this series end, and a part of me wishes for another chapter; I understand what you mean. The right time to close a series is when you feel the plot flow has come to a logical close. It's better to have readers ask you 'why stop now', in a sense...since it means the plot has been taut and gripping.

But...here is me nursing a small hope for the future 😳😳...its also possible that after a span of time, the part which didn't seem possible to write earlier, may suddenly seem relevant. Something may come by, to fire your imagination for a repeat excursion. 😉

It happened to me for the Elements series...where I was sure I would not be able to write 'Air', since I was too bugged at that point with Lakshya. But a few months later, I could add Air to the company of Water, Fire, Earth and Space. 😊

So I am perhaps still not quite ready to say bye to Vilasini and Kosmos yet. ☺️🤗 Just saying. 😉

I loved this. Made my day extra special. 🤗

Lots of Love

Viji
