Another day another report, Peehu sighed as she completed the report for the nth time. Why did I listen to Caleb, should have listened to Shelby and completed the task, Peehu regretted. As Peehu turned off her computer, Alex barged into the room. "You need to go to Deputy Director's office right now."
Peehu sighed thinking it was another lecture with a punishment. Not wanting to get in trouble she quickly made her way towards the Deputy Director's office. She knocked on the door and entered, the Deputy Director motioned her to take a seat. As she sat down, the Deputy Director spoke, "Look Peehu, I know you're training has just completed and you wanted to show you fit in, but what you did was not the way to go. However, we have more pressing manners and it looks like you'll be working on your first case," she said causing Peehu to be elated.
"However, you will be assisting Captain Beckett and I want you to be on your best behaviour. Am I understood?"
"Yes, Deputy," Peehu replied.
Peehu followed the Deputy Director to conference room 3, where she noticed her team - Alex, Ryan, Caleb, Nimah, and Shelby - and two new faces. "Peehu, meet Captain Beckett and Richard Castle." Captain Beckett nodded while Richard shook her hand.
"Let's get started with the investigation, we don't have time to waste," Captain Beckett spoke.
"We received a tip that a scientist named Archie Johnson, who worked for the CDC, stole a deadly virus," Beckett explained.
"Do we know why he stole the virus?" Peehu asked.
"I have a theory that he stole the virus to solve the overpopulation problem'," Castle explained.
"We've raided his office and home and brought all his notes, we're going to need you to try and decipher them." Beckett continued, "Don't worry Nimah and Shelby will help, while the rest of us are going to look for Johnson."
"When Deputy Director said I would be assisting I kind of thought I would be out on the field, not stuck in here going through notes filled with gibberish," Peehu complained as she finished reviewing the report in front of her.
"Quit complaining and more reviewing. This is too time-sensitive for us to lazy about," Shelby said. Peehu decided to keep her thoughts to herself as she started reviewing a different report.
She casually skimmed through a blue folder filled with reports when she noticed something unusual. She reviewed it again, and again, and again making sure she read it right.
"I think I found something," she exclaimed. Shelby and Nimah left their files and walked towards her.
"See these reports, they're results of the virus on some small town and these names here," she pointed to on a different, "these look like a list of places they plan to spread the virus. It looks like they're starting off with small towns or villages in remote areas where people won't be able to tell what's going on. And, they're making sure not to spread across the globe, so it'll be harder to figure out. It looks like their next target is Loja, Ecuador and they're leaving by boat in an hour. We need to call the team."
"Good job, Peehu," Nimah complimented, "Get ready, we need to get to the port. Shelby call the team."
Peehu hid in the shadows as she walked closer to what looked like the only boat travelling. She noticed a dark hair man come out of a room screaming at a blonde haired woman. She thanked their distraction making it easier for her to sneak into the side of the boat. She noticed Alex at the corner and knew that they would be able to stop this. In a blink of an eye the man, who she know recognised as Archie Johnson, pulled a gun out and pointed it towards the woman. Alex jumped from her position and pointed the gun at Archie.
"Put the gun down, Archie." Alex commanded.
"Not happening, darling," Archie quickly used the girl as a shield as he faced Alex.
Alex and Archie, both patiently waited for the other to lower their gun, but no one budged. Alex tried talking him out of it, but Archie was in over his head and was above reason. Peehu quickly and efficiently walked behind Archie and disarmed him while Alex took a hold of the girl and took her from harm's way.
"You have shown some tremendous qualities in the last 48 hours and I am immensely proud of you," the Deputy Director complimented Peehu causing her to slightly blush.
"And due to your outstanding work, you will be pardoned from your reporting punishment," she continued. Peehu thanked her lucky stars.
"Before you go, I need you to clear out conference room 3." Peehu sighed, she knew there was a catch, but at least there will be no more reports...at least not for a while.
Peehu turned the light on conference room 3 and jumped back as everyone yelled "SURPRISE!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PEEHU!" She found herself engulfed in hugs from everyone, including Captain Beckett and Richard Castle.
"I know we're a bit late, but nothing happens on time in the CIA and we wanted you to know we appreciate and love you," Alex whispered in her ear as she hugged her.
