Little do you know,
How I'm breaking while you fall asleep
Little do you know
I'm still haunted by the memories
Little do you know
I'm trying to pick myself up piece by piece
Little do you know
I need a little more time
"Are you really going to do this?" She whispered softly, her voice breaking every second.
"Yes." He mustered up all courage he had. He didn't want to but he had to do this. For her good, for his own good. He knew he was being selfish, but he did it anyways, his heart breaking into a million pieces by just saying that one word.
She stood there silently, tears rolling down her cheeks. She took a step forward to him, cupping his cheek with her hand. She stared in his eyes and said, "Look at me."
He tried to tear his gaze away from hers but couldn't. Staring back into her deep brown eyes, he asked, "What do you want now?"
She closed her eyes for a moment, her soft breath fanning his face. Opening her eyes again, she asked in a soft voice, "Do you really not love me? Look in my eyes and answer. I need to hear it from you. Tell me. Was it all a lie?"
Underneath it all I'm held captive by the hole inside
I've been holding back for the fear that you might change your mind
I'm ready to forgive you but forgetting is a harder fight
No voice came out of his mouth. He wanted to yell, he wanted to scream and tell her how much he loved her and how much he cared for her. He wanted to show her the world. He wanted to fulfill each and every promise he made to her. He wanted to give her everything.
But he knew he couldn't.
He knew he was no good. He knew he would bring her nothing but heartbreak, sooner or later. He couldn't see her suffering, he just knew he couldn't.
Collecting his words carefully, he exhaled. He had to do this. He keep reminding himself that he was doing this for her. Finally he said it. "Yes, it was all a lie. And yes, I don't love you. I never did."
That one sentence was enough to make her world crash and crumple down.
Little do you know
I need a little more time
I'll wait, I'll wait
I love you like you've never felt the pain
I'll wait I promise you don't have to be afraid
I'll wait
The love is here and here to stay
So lay your head on me
She was walking towards her locker. Her face didn't fail to give out her grim expression. It's been a week since that night. She had hardly got any sleep and neither had she eaten anything since then.
She couldn't get him out of her mind. She couldn't help replaying their days they spent together. All those thought came rushing into her mind, crashing her down.
And then she saw that person who was the reason for that condition of hers.
That person whom she had successfully avoided for the past one week.
But it seems like fate had its own plans.
There came he, another girl in a short skirt and blouse besides him, casually clinging to his arm. The place where she used to be till a few days back.
She tried looking away, but found herself staring at him. At them.
He felt someone's gaze upon him as he turned to find her. His one true love. The person that mattered the most to him. He saw it. He saw the change in her. He felt it. He saw how pale and weak she looked. He knew he was the reason for this. She failed to hide her wrists though, the sight of the faint red marks on her wrists made his heart ache. He wanted to punish himself for being the reason she had to go through this.
Their eyes locked for a moment.
And then she turned away.
Little do you know
I know you're hurting while I'm sound asleep
Little do you know
All my mistakes are slowly drowning me
Little do you know I'm trying to make it better piece by piece
Little do you know I, I love you 'til the sun dies
Two weeks passed. It was Valentine's day. The day when he had asked her out. Exactly one year ago. The day he had promised her they are forever. The day he had said she was his world. The day he had said that he'd show her the world. Anything she wished for.
Seeing the date on the calendar, her heart shattered.
She walked out of her house. She had no reason to live now. None at all. She lived for him. He was her world. And she was his' .. or at least that's what she thought. She was going to end it. All.
Climbing up the stairs to the roof, she stood at the edge of it. The cool, soft breeze fanned her face and her hair blew up at her face.
Oh wait, just wait I love you like I've never felt the pain
Just wait I love you like I've never been afraid
Just wait
Our love is here and here to stay
So lay your head on me
I'll wait (I'll wait), I'll wait (I'll wait)
He had made up his mind. He was going to do this. Finally. He was going to go up to her and tell her everything. He was going to get her back at any cost. He couldn't handle it anymore. He wanted her. He needed her. He knew he would fought till hell and back for her.
He drove to her house and rang the bell. There was a sad smile on his face until he saw a figure at the edge of her apartment's roof. He knew it was her. He could make it out by that small figure.
He ran. He ran until he reached the terrace. He ran like he had never ran before. He ran for her.
There she was. Her eyes were closed.
His words came rushing back to her mind.
I never did. I never did. I never did.
The words repeating themselves again and again in her mind. Until a soft whisper took her out of her trance. "No." He knew it was him. She could recognize his voice in a million people. She opened her eyes to see his beautiful face in front of her.
He took a few steps until he was in front of her. She took a step towards him. Their eyes glistened with tears and raw emotions.
Staring deep in her eyes, he whispered.
"I'm sorry."
I love you like you've never felt the pain
I'll wait (I'll wait) I promise you don't have to be afraid
I'll wait
The love is here and here to stay
So lay your head on me
Lay your head on me
So lay your head on me
"For what?" She asked him.
"Everything." He answered. "I'm sorry for everything. For breaking your heart. For hurting you. For being the reason of the cuts on your wrists. For being an asshole. For pretending that I don't care. For making you suffer so much. For m..making you want to kill yourself." His voice faltered.
She smiled sadly and listened him continue.
"I'm really sorry. I know what I did is unforgivable. But still, please forgive more. Please take me back. Please give me one more chance. Give us one more chance. Please. I need you. I don't know what I'd do without you." He said, breaking down into tears as he closed his eyes.
When she leaned towards him and brushed her lips across his', he reached for her as if he would otherwise drown. He kissed her and the world fell away. It was slow and soft, comforting in ways that words would never be. His hand rested below her ear, his thumb caressing her cheek as their breaths mingled. She ran her fingers down his spine, pulling him closer until there was no space left between them and she could feel the beating of his heart against her chest.
He was cold. He was shivering. She felt it and whispered, "I forgive you. About everything. Because I love you. I always have. I always will."
She stepped back, her hands still tightly looped into his'. The warmth within her and the coldness within his body, collided into each other.
She pulled away from him, no contact existing between the two now. The warmth of her hands disappeared, his hands suddenly running cold. His eyes remained closed.
"I love you." She said, taking a step backwards.
"I love you too." He replied, opening his eyes.
But she was already falling into the deep pits of oblivion.
For ever.
'Cause little do you know I,
I love you 'til the sun dies
