Exclusive: Deepika and Ranveer have broken up. We tell you why
Buzz has it that Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone have broken up. And in his latest exclusive interview to India Today Television, Ranveer did not admit that he was in a committed relationship either.
Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have been THE power couple Bollywood fans have loved emulating and admiring for several years now. Ever since news broke that Ranveer and Deepika were dating, back during the shoot of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Ram-Leela, people have kept their eyes open for every bit of information about the two coming their way. However, seems like all that is in the past now. Ranveer and Deepika, if reports are to be believed, have broken up.
He's Bollywood's wild-child, the outspoken, flashy new-age superstar but does Ranveer Singh's flamboyant demeanour serve as a veil to his vulnerable sensitive side?
In the prime of his career, Ranveer wants to settle down and start a family. In a no-holds-barred interview with India Today Television, Ranveer spoke at length about his wedding plans.
Ranveer: I think about these things (getting married)... you know you think about the future, it's only natural, you think about things like being a family man, and stuff like what do the next five years hold for me, these thoughts... I mean I'm 31 now, it's only natural that these thoughts are occurring to me!
Sushant: So are we gonna see that in the near future?
Ranveer: Kya pata yaar, I'm still contemplating.
Sushant: Have you thought about how you would propose?
Ranveer: I have, yeah, it's true I have very elaborate plans.
While Ranveer is ready to tie the knot, his rumoured girlfriend Deepika has gone on record to state that she does not want to get married any time soon.
Only last month, Deepika said in an interview, "I am not pregnant, I am not engaged, I am not married. I am not planning to get married any time soon."
And in his latest exclusive interview to India Today Television, Ranveer did not admit that he was in a committed relationship either.
Ranveer: Yaar, I've had many girlfriends and back in the day, like a decade ago, I used to be in a lot of insubstantial relationships, so to speak. But of late, I'm a changed man.
Sushant: So you're a changed man, committed guy...?
Ranveer: Well, my outlook on romantic relationships has evolved - let's just put it that way.
Sushant: Is it difficult to maintain your relationship when you are a public figure, is there any trouble in paradise?
Ranveer: Not at all really, if you have the maturity, if you're mature enough to not let external things influence your relationship, then I think you're good.
A week ago, at the Paris trailer launch of Befikre, Ranveer shared his experience of a romantic holiday in Paris with his 'lover'. When an audience member probed him about his vacation with Deepika, Ranveer said that he was referring to his ex, a Parisian girlfriend, and that the audience was wrong to assume that he was dating anyone at the moment.
Ranveer said, "Sir, you have assumed that I have a girlfriend. I had come many years ago with my girlfriend. I have also had a Parisian girlfriend by the way. A beautiful Moroccan girl."
Meanwhile, the most followed Asian woman on Twitter, Deepika Padukone, has not shared her rumoured boyfriend's film Befikre's trailer on social media and surprisingly Ranveer too, hasn't yet shared Deepika's xXx Return of Xander Cage trailer on social media.
So, is there trouble in Paradise for Deepika and Ranveer? The Tinsel Town grapevine suggests that the honeymoon period in Ranveer-Deepika's relationship is over and these B-Towners are going through a rough patch in their relationship.
When we asked Ranveer if he would pop the question to Deepika in Paris...
Sushant: Kya aap Paris mein propose karna chahenge Deepika ko? (Would you want to propose to Deepika in Paris?)
Ranveer: Ye sawal aap national television pe na karein... (Please don't ask this question on national television...)
Bollywood's 'IT' couple will now start shooting for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Padmavati. The film has been mired in controversy for quite some time, including reports of a tiff between Ranveer and director Sanjay Leela Bhansali over the actor hiking his fee after the super success of Bajirao Mastani and Shahid Kapoor landing a meatier role in the film. Moreover, sources hint at Deepika being behind Shahid's inclusion in the film.
While we are yet to receive an official confirmation from the horses' mouth, we hope Ranveer and Deepika sort out their differences soon.
