Although the discussion on the forums or any other social platform is typically restricted to the leads and the general story line...I decided to write this post about two of the most under-rated and neglected gems of the show Gangaa- Sushmita Mukherjee playing Ammaji and Gungun Uprari...as Madhavi.
Whatever lows this show has seen, the fact remains that I never had any complaints with respect to three departments of this show: - 1.) The Casting department (people actually look their parts) 2.) The Music department (the overall music is just perfect... for me, it triggers the exact emotion that it is intended to evoke) and and and 3.) Most importantly, the Acting department...the show is just resting on the skillful shoulders of its actors. I am most grateful to the actors for keeping the show bearable even when the writing has several times perplexed my core values.
Now coming to the reason for this post...since from tomorrow, the show will again become gripping with Sagar saving Krishna and the gradual realisation etc...the focus will again shift on the undoubted rock-stars Vishal and Aditi...(they are surely mind-blowing ).
So, before all of that, I would want to voice my genuine appreciation for the powerhouse and legendary performer Sushmita Mukherjee. Though, I am no one to say anything about her talent...but just as an ordinary viewer, I feel it is my solemn duty to acknowledge how much I am loving the way she is playing this exceedingly complex part...it has so many layers and she is just decoding it with elan. Sign of a true and experienced performer, especially this post leap, I find her just A++ in each episode, be it her phone conversations with her London based grand-son or her surrender to her Lord Shaligramjee...she is just so damn good to say the least. Ma'am...I genuinely appreciate your talent. You have breathed life to Ammaji.
Secondly, Gungun Uprari: I don't know how many people will agree but I have always felt that choosing Gungun was the most under-noticed yet a very interesting casting decision of the team. As Madhavi...her grace, elegance, Madhubala-ish beauty, lends so much of gravitas to the character. Madhavi has a certain believable averageness to her character, which I feel requires a very restrained performance and Gungun does have that towering yet subtle presence on screen. Her quiet stares, her dialogue delivery, her assured presence need not be a scene stealer...but she is just what u call a perfect supporting actor...who never tries to take away the lime-light nor is in-secured. Thank you Gungun ji...you have left an indelible mark as Madhavi. Even when she played games with Gangaa she was never disgraceful or undignified...her body language exudes...a certain Class (certain aristocracy, which is very refreshing).
If Vishal is Virat Kohli, I certainly would call Ammaji as the evergreen Kris Shrikant and Madhavi as Anil Kumble...the team would be incomplete without you guys. Good job...well done!!šŸ‘

I second your comment thumbs upšŸ‘šŸ¼ to all the actors even the Antagonist played their parts flawlessly but i am finding Krishna's voice is getting on my nerves.

U r so right. Sushmita is the perfect multi-shaded Ammaji whereas Gungun exudes the ideal amount of decency which her soft-spoken docile character demands. šŸ‘šŸ¼Casting and Acting are the two areas of this show where I find nothing to complain about. Though I find great difficulty accepting Aditi opposite to Vishal look wise as well as age wise for which their romantic scenes don't seem convincing to mešŸ˜•, but her acting prowess compensates the shortcomingsšŸ‘. I would only like to advice the makers to make the senior cast look their age now. Specially considering Ammaji's age, she should be made to stoop a bit more and find difficulty in walking etc. etc..
