Aman is a really nice guy and an amazing brother. Gives her space but there for her when she needs him. The kind I like 😉
Sunheri is more like Bindi she lacks the sense of caution that Paro is born with.
More on Paro, coming up!

I'm good 😃 How are you?
Thank you. Glad you found time to read this update.
Naivety is one of Sunheri's faults as well as what makes her adorable.
Presence of mind or self-preservation ? 😆 Rudra and Aman will not spare him.
Posting the next part now.

CHAPTER 67

"No saab, she is with me only. I haven't lost sight of her," Natwarlal spoke into the phone. Sunheri saw him sweat and wondered what might be the cause. She got in the back quietly. The car started with a jerk. "She is inside. I will get her," he said racing back to the tutor's house. The car screeched to a halt and Sunheri almost fell off her seat.

He knocked on the door. Nobody opened. "Parvati madam," he shouted as he banged the doo. Panic set in. Sunheri joined him and called out to her bhabhisa. No response. They pushed hard against the wood and broke in. The room was empty. He looked around. She screamed in terror. What happened to Parvati bhabhisa?

"Shhh! There is no time to panic. I'm calling headquarters," he said and dialed Aman's number. He started to sweat and dug his pocket. "Sorry sir. I didn't want to end the call but there is a problem," he started bravely. Sunheri saw his face turn white as he explained their predicament. She heard the sirens as new jeeps joined them.

Aman's men moved swiftly. Talking to neighbors, finger prints and looking for clues. Sunheri was so scared all she wanted to do was find her sister-in-law and go home. She approached the BSD officer slowly, "Bhaisa it is all my fault." The minute he looked at her she broke into tears. He lead her to a chair and produced a bottle of water from somewhere. "Think carefully and tell me what happened. No detail however small is insignificant," he told her calmly.

Midway through her account, his phone rang. "Almost all the soldiers are out looking for her sir. We will not let him get away," he assured. She could hear her cousin cursing at the other end. He was furious that someone dared to kidnap his wife. He wanted answers when he lands. No, he didn't need a constable waiting for him. He would get a cab. "What about VK Sir? Do we tell him?" Aman asked. There was silence. Then he frowned. He was supposed to do that once Rudra got there.

"Did he say anything about me?" Sunheri asked petrified. She already knew that Natwarsa looking at an early retirement. Aman felt bad. It wasn't entirely her fault that she was fooled so easily. "Why don't you call your Sumer bhaisa to pick come and you up? You will be more comfortable with him than these BSD men" he suggested.

When Rudra joined them an hour later, the air was tense with the anger that rolled off him. Sunheri shivered as she saw her bhabhisa's jallad. He didn't seem to notice her, his every sense focused on Aman's verbal report. She shuddered in fright as the duo walked past her to meet the jawans outside.

Rudra knew he had to talk to her. Tell her it will be okay. But he couldn't. She put Paro in this state. Kind solace wasn't hers to have. He shook himself distancing himself from the situation. This called for the ruthless officer not the gentle husband. Aman had done the right thing so far. He had moved in swiftly and dispatched search parties. The constables however were very dejected. They had looked everywhere within a kilometer radius. It wasn't possible for him to have slipped through their nets.

"What are you doing here?" he asked walking up to a car which joined them. Sumer replied that he was called to pick up his sister. "I'm talking to her," he pointed to the woman who got down. Shatabdi frowned. If Paro wasn't his wife, she wouldn't have bothered. A shadow of guilt appeared momentarily on his face. "Paro was starting to feel bad that she couldn't wear her hip chains anymore. So I gave her one of my Saree key chains," she explained pulling out the one she was wearing.

He turned around and walked away. He didn't time to listen to how good a friend she was. "Banna, wait. She has a point. She is worried that's why she is talking in circles," Sumer assured. They walked back to the disgruntled woman. "Fine, get to your point faster, goods train," he told her. She was getting angry but the worried look on Aman's face melted her temper. "There is a GPS tracker in it," she told them abruptly. He was confused. He asked to explain slowly. To his surprise she actually did.

Since her kidnap, her father was worried about her safety. His former rank didn't provide for security once she moved in with her husband. So he got a GPS tracker system set up which can be followed remotely. The micro tracker units were embedded into five Saree key chains like the one she gave Paro. He smiled gratefully as she handed a CD with the necessary software.

Aman grabbed the laptop and got to work. "I... "Rudra started. She held her hand to stop him. He didn't have to say anything. She wanted Paro's back too. She walked in to Sunheri who was watching from the door. "Let's go home," she told the girl who jumped into her arms sobbing profusely. Sumer decided to stay back and help.

"How is this possible Sir?"

"This doesn't make sense. Our men have looked everywhere but it is showing this house only," commented a very frustrated Aman. Sumer wondered aloud if the jewel might have a fallen off. Rudra glared at him. Unless there was a struggle it would be on his wife's person. His Paro wasn't careless about these things. "This is the only lead we have so far. There must something that we have missed," he said dismissing their doubts.

As Rudra walked in he observed the entire room closely. The single light bulb, the absence of windows and the thick walls of the warehouse made it am ideal place to hold someone hostage. He won't have to move Paro away. This place after nightfall was enough to scare her. He noticed an amber glow behind a curtain. "What's that?" he asked moving closer to it. "It's a picture of another man. Maybe his brother or friend. We are running it through the system," Aman replied.

The wind got knocked out of his chest when he recognised the face. Varun! Paro's namesake husband. "I know who he is. He was the groom in the baraat that Tejawat had organised," he told the others. They both exchanged looks. He wasn't even able to say Paro's former husband. "Tejawat will know more," Aman suggested moving closer. The floor creaked. The two officers just stopped. They squatted low and pulled back a mat. There was a door.

"Why don't I wait here while you go in?" suggested Sumer heart pounding in his ear. The other two agreed with a nod. Aman's phone rang. He silenced it and saw General Singh displayed on screen. Rudra jerked his head making his colleage step away with the phone.

"Yes, Sir... No Sir. Everything is fine. Just a routine drill... Sorry sir, should have informed you before relieving everyone from their posts...Yes Sir...Okay Sir... Sorry once again," he said accepting the blame for breach of conduct. They had to get his sister back first then they would explain everything. He dismissed most of the BSD personnel as Paro was found with strict instructions not to say a word. Both he and Rudra would face severe backlash. A first time for him but there was no time for explanations now. He went back in and saw Sumer waiting by an open hatch. "He will signal when it is time for you to go in," he passed on his cousin's message. Aman nodded.

Rudra walked down the wooden ladder slowly. It made his blood boil to even think of his wife in this place. She hated the dark. His plan was simple. He would get Paro to Aman and then pound the daylights out of Varun's brother, Shantanu.

Meanwhile Shatanu who had heard the phone ring upstairs got busy. He gently sprinkled water on her face waking her up. "Forgive me bhabhisa, this was not the way I ever expected to see you. But you left me no choice when you ditched my brother and married his killer," he said. Paro was confused. She instinctively tried to reach her rudraksh but her hands were tied. Her face turned pale. "Don't worry I may not hurt you. You are the reason Varun bhaisa is dead but yours isn't the hand that is soaked in his blood," he assured her. He meant it. He just wanted to understand what happened in the desert for now. Justice will follow truth.

Varun. That name brought back the day her life changed forever. So Shantanu bhaisa was his brother. That's why she was here. He wanted to avenge his brother's death. That meant he would go after her Rudra. "You're right. It is my fault that your brother died. If I hadn't waited for my friend when we left maybe we might have crossed the border. Or if the BSD hadn't approached my luggage, he would have gotten out of the caravan" she replied.

Rudra saw him sitting down casually in front of his wife. What was he upto? Why was Paro even talking to him? She knew how to keep mum. Why was he calling her bhabhisa with so much respect and binding her hands at the same time?

Shantanu didn't realise they had an audience. "Why don't you tell me from the beginning" She told him what she saw. The BSD approaching on camels and stopping them. The men in the baraat stopping them. Then the guns being fired in all directions. Then she fainted when she was face to face with Rudra brandishing his pistol. She woke up later when she heard a gunshot. She saw his brother fall down a bullet in his head.

"And yet you didn't hesitate to marry Rudra? Or was it your plan to poison him in his sleep once you had gotten close to him" he asked starting to get angry. She was taken captive and questioned. But she didn't want to share her experience with the very people who had ruined her life. She was hidden away in his home. Then one thing led to another and she was forced to play his fiancee. Forced by society who wouldn't accept a nameless relationship between a man and woman, forced by a father who was desperate to protect the professional obligations of his son and the dignity of the woman he protected, forced by the monster who was ready to tear her principles apart to honor his own.

"If you hated your situation so much bhabhisa why didn't you run away bhabhisa? Why are is his offspring growing inside you?" Rudra heard him taunt. He knew these things even without Paro saying it. She had put it all behind them. But to hear this from her hurt. He hoped desperately that all his actions since their wedding made up in restoring the woman he torn down mercilessly.

"I got my chance to escape when Thakursa arrived at the Mela we were supposed to get married in. That was when I heard the truth from the person I looked up to. Rudra was right. My wedding was a farce. The people who came weren't baraatis who were looking for a bride but smugglers who were getting weapons in exchange for money," she said. He shook his head. His brother would never be involved in something dangerous. He was working hard to build a life from them. A life where she had a place too. A small but happy household. The kind they had before their parents died.

Paro remembered her conversation with Varun with a soft smile. He did have a small house and wanted to start a family of his own as he had no one else. "He did seem to want some of those things or atleast that's what he told me. But there was no place for me in it. Thakursa revealed how he already had found a buyer for me. My life would have been like Nandu jeeja's or like the girls in the NGO," she told him softy.

"No!" he shouted. "Mu brother is an honorable man. He wouldn't do something to hurt a woman especially the one he marries. Our parents raised us with good values," he yelled getting up. Paro was started see the violence break through his calm voice. She looked about hoping Rudra would get to her soon.

He chucked the glass on the wall, "How dare you stay such things about him? I should you cut off your tongue for saying such things. But I haven't. You know why? Because he will be disappointed in me." Rudra crept closer. Paro apologised for hurting his feelings but he deserved to know the truth. "That isn't the truth. It is something you and that husband of yours made up," he mumbled fury dancing in his eyes. His fingers twitched.

"Paro is telling the truth. She can't lie. Not even to save herself," Rudra said stepping out of the shadows. She smiled at him grateful that she didn't have to pretend to be brave anymore. He put the gun back in its holster trying to get his trust. If needed he could choke the idiot to death with his bare hands. "She didn't even try when I held her hostage trying to break the trust she had on your brother and Tejawat. I had to wait till she figured it on her own," he explained.

Shantanu didn't want to accept it. He accused Rudra of tainting his brother's name just to steal his bride. "She is a nice girl but for my mission I needed your brother more. He would have known more about the operation. The men he came with would have shared some details with him. He would have had to be tortured but he would have revealed much more. I could have easily traced all the people involved with him as my witness. I almost wished I didn't have to kill him," he confessed.

Hey Rithu 😃

Coming here after long time..! and sorry about late comment.. Got busy..!
but I did read chapters 😛.
Its an interesting take on Shantanu's and Varun's story.. there background story.
Shantanu doesn't look like Villain here..! and he certainly don't want to hurt Paro..
Till now!! So he kidnapped Paro.. but unfortunately for him as his plan did not work
and BSD men reached to his place and now He confronted Paro.. heard her side
of story but did not trust it..! humm..
Now time to see his and Rudra's confrontation.. Lets see how will Shantanu react
infront of Rudra.. killer of his brother..!

We are reaching to climax in this story..?! now I am suspicious about this
Shantanu.. 🤓

So Rudra did find Paro, thanks to key chain. Shantanu gets to know the truth from Paro but he is not ready to accept that his brother could do anything wrong. It's now upto Rudra to convince him.
