After the Fame Jodi of Qazi and Ruprekha was announced last night, Fame Gurukul will start its all new celebrity show today. Celebrities like Ajay Gehi, Tisca Chopra, Bobby Darling, Amit Sareen, Tanaaz Currim etc have been invited to participate in the show. The judges, faculty and presenters will remain the same.
It has been alleged that Celebrity Fame Gurukul has been launched to combat Star One's flagship show Nach Baliye. Commenting on this, Nina Jaipuria, VP, Marketing and Communications, Sony says, "The celebrity concept has been there at the back of our minds. We were waiting for things to fall in place to make a formal announcement." Apparently, the participating actors came to know of the show only a week ago.
Most of these names are not well-known names, a situation that does not bother the channel. "We did not want to target particular actors for the show. It was open for all those who wished to be a part of it," says Jaipuria.
Actors, on their behalf, unanimously admitted to not being proficient at singing, but were eager to learn from the faculty and judges at the Fame Gurukul. Celebrity Fame Gurukul also marks a comeback of child-actor Hansika Motwani (Hum 2 Hai Na), who had not so long ago announced her sabbatical from the glam world to concentrate on her academics.
On the inclusion of Bobby Darling, head mistress of Fame Gurukul, Ila Arun commented, "If Bobby darling turns out be a good singer, she will be the Fame Jodi in herself."
