Changing Bajirao Mastani story

Was thinking earlier that if the story was different maybe I would have liked the film.
I know most historical films are never accurate so why not have fun then, right?

Anyway I would have made Mastani just a courtesan and not some princess warrior. She would go through struggles in life and somehow her and Bajirao meet and fall in love. While PC is the villain and evil wife. Different twist to the film...

I would call it Wah Ji wow Mastani. Movie will open on nanga chichora dance duel and it turns out Kashi bai is a house maid at his house. One day she meets Shiney Ahuja and fall in love and runs off with him. Bhaji Rao goes after her and declares war and is seriously injured and treated by mastani who is an undercover FBI agent.

First off, insert some soul into Bajirao-Mastani's 'love story' which failed to move me in the least.

Not glorify their 'love' so much when they were just infatuated with each other.

isn't the movie narrating the actual story of the real Bajirao ?

The real Bajirao was married to Kashi, then met a Muslim princess( Mastani ) when he was helping her father defend his kingdum,

The real Bajirao fell in love with Mastani and took her as second wife, his family and Kashi were not too happy about that 😆 the end.

how can you change historical facts.

Oh Gosh! Having fun with historical figures would demean their sacrifice and goodwill.

SLB tried to make the love story of Bajirao and Mastani and ended up turning Mastani into a vamp who wrecked PC's world...in the end the people felt nothing for Baji and Mastani and PC walked away with all the sympathy...saari story ka satyanaas kar maara..

Oh man. I could rant on and on about how bad the characterisation completely ruined this movie for me.

IMO, Bajirao came off as a douche-nozzle with no genuine remorse in his eyes for Kashi's plight. I saw only infatuation in his eyes for Mastani even when he was supposed to feel guilt whilst talking to Kashibai. And, then during the climax scene in the tent he asks for Mastani with Kashi sitting next to him. Man... If i were Kashibai, I'd have killed him right then and ended his 'Mohabbat'.

I always kept waiting and saying to himself " now he'll care for Kashi..now he'll care for Kashi" but nope.

For all that SLB tried to tell us about Bajirao's history, I knew he was a great warrior and enjoyed Ranveer's portrayal of his warrior in the battlefield. As for the lover, it only made me think between then and now, no matter how great a man is..he will drop the home girl and run for the exotic meat faster than he can "ji re ji re Baji ji ri"

And, it din't help with them dying in slow-mo death whilst bechara Irfaan Khan is re-iterating in the bg that love has no religion. Sorry Bhansali, I was too busy caught up in Kashi's pain to care about two "tharki" lover warriors.

SLB is over rated and he did not do justice to story of anyone except Kaashi.
