We danced together on the song Tere sang yaara' and were applauded with a clap after the end of the take. We were then handed our scripts in advance although the shooting would start tomorrow and end too tomorrow itself.
I bid bye to the unit and reached hotel. I called my mom and dad and talked with them a lot, telling them everything in detail. They too responded merrily and wished me luck for the next day. I took one of the scripts to read but I was dead tired so, I dozed off as soon as closed my eyes for a nap.
The next morning again I was piled with makeup and I reached the set at 9AM. Shooting was to start at noon and I was told to practise the dialogues with my co-actor. Kindly mark my words, I said my co-actor, not my heroine. Your minds seriously...
I was already in practice room and was reading scene 1, when she greeted me, "Good morning Kabir"
I looked at her and smiled back, "Good morning erm" and I made an awkward face as I seriously didn't know her name until then.
She chuckled and forwarded her hand, "Nisha"
I shook hands with her , "Sorry I..."
She cut me off, "It's okay Kabir, small things happen in big cities"
I chuckled, "English DDLJ"
She grinned and nodded.
We started practicing our scenes one by one. Well, yeah, it was just an episode so it majorly concentrated on hero-heroine's part and our scenes were 90% of the whole episode.
We practiced all of the scenes and only last one was left, so we decided to take a break and then continue. We ordered for a pizza and were gorging it.
"So, Kabir, I was told you're new here, how this city feels?" she asked.
"Amazing" I said
"Great, so what next?"
"Next I would go back to my native place and continue as a theatre artist there" I said
"What?" she looked at me dazed.
"Yeah" I chuckled.
"But people come here to establish their career and you will go back?" she raised her brow.
"Yeah I told you" I said coolly taking another bite.
"Strange!" she exclaimed.
I just passed a smile.
"Can I ask you something?" she asked
"Yup" I said chirpily drinking water.
She smiled, "Are you okay with the kiss?"
And I coughed hard as what I heard was seriously out of my wits.
I asked in between my coughs as she patted my back, "w..wh..wat?"
"Yeah, kissing scene I meant. It's the last scene. You must have browsed through the scripts yesterday" she said in a go.
No! I didn't! Why didn't I? I just wanted to slap myself.
As I made a weird face plus I was shooting for the first time, she might have guessed that I got to know about the kissing scene right then.
She sighed, "Well I think you must meet the director"
I nodded and went straight to the director. I returned to her in few minutes.
"So?" she smiled.
"So nothing" I smiled meekly.
She chuckled, "Director didn't get convince?"
I answered sadly, "What would have I said to the director? I have signed the contract and already they paid me half the amount yesterday"
"Hmmm... so do you want me to talk to the director?" she asked.
"Will he delete the scene if you say?"I inquired.
"Nope" she shook her head .
"Then?"I flared my nose.
She chortled, "It's just that he would ask us to practise that too" and she began laughing out loud.
I slammed my fist at my forehead thinking what a mess!
"I shouldn't have come here... I should have agreed to my parents rather than convincing them" I said with a frown and a creased forehead.
She ceased her laughter after she heard me. She then placed her hand on my shoulder, "Relax Kabir, it's just a kiss"
I glared at her.
She sighed, "okay look we are actors right?"
I nodded.
"So it is also acting Kabir" she said.
I sighed.
"Fine you are new, so do you need practise?" she lifted her brows.
I gave a nervous look to her and it was clearly visible on her face that she was suppressing her laughter.
"Arey yaar" I banged my palm at my eyes shutting them, feeling totally irritated.
And in the spur of the moment, she kissed me.
"Look it's over" she said with a bright smile.
My hands were still over my shut eyes and I sat immobilized not able to understand what just happened.
"Kabiiir" she gave a blow at my hand which covered my eyes and I dropped it facing her.
She smiled, "Now is it okay? Feeling better?"
I wagged my head weirdly, "I can do the scene"
She grinned, "Good"
And finally the episode shoot was over. Thank God! I merrily took the cheque of the half amount I was to be paid. All the unit people were packing up.
I knew I would never land here again so, my eyes glistened as I suspired slowly. These days will always be memorable to me.
I turned at last without looking back again. I packed my things at my hotel and dozed off as I had to wake up early next day.
I woke up at 4 AM and reached the station in an hour. My train was an hour late I got to know once I reached. I sat sipping coffee as it was dawn. I knew I would be sleeping all through my journey as my eyes were fluttering now.
I heard some noisy exhales behind my back so I turned to find the source. There was Nisha panting heavily with her hands on her knees and smiled wide as she looked at me.
"You here? Why are you panting so much?" I asked standing up with a jolt.
"Youh...th..that" she tried speaking but was short of breaths.
"Wait, sit here" I said taking her by her shoulders and making her sit where I was sitting.
I smiled at her as she had gone pink sweating badly.
As she got back her breaths she asked, "When is your train?"
"It's an hour late why?"
She grinned and I gave a puzzled look.
She jumped out of her seat and hugged me tightly blurting, "Yay!"
God! Why this girl always lands me in shock?
"What happened Nisha?" I asked in amazement.
She broke the hug and started excitedly, "My parents have already talked with your parents. They said it is totally fine with them until it's totally fine with you. They are even ready to let you work here!"
She said the last sentence opening her arms and I reached ecstasy so I hugged her tight and swirled her in my embrace.
I dropped her back on her feet and asked in euphoria, "Is this a dream?"
She replied in a no equally matching my joy and I started dancing my own weird dance. She laughed loud and even others present at the station did the same but I was least bothered. I had just got the permission to live my dreams! I love this city! God I love you! You took me to my love!
And I froze all of a sudden as I said the last sentence to myself. My lips straightened and my eyes went devoid of its shine. And I got a tap on my shoulder.
"What happened? Why did you stop so suddenly?" she asked in worry.
I ceased because that's when I realized that, earlier, I wasn't just going away from this city my love but also I was going away from my love, my heroine... Yeah you heard it right this time. No slip of tongue...
She clicked her fingers as I stood blank drifted away in deep thoughts. I sighed, "nothing"
"You okay?" she sounded tensed.
"Yeah" I smiled digging my hands in pocket.
"So... err... is it fine with you?" she asked with hopeful eyes.
"I'm totally fine now I told you" I said casually
"No Kabir, I'm talking about what I say to my parents?" she asked
I gave a puzzled look.
Then I saw tears brimming in her eyes and she started striding out wiping them.
I told you that this girl gives me shocks. Here's another one. What happened to her now? And what did she say about parents and all?
I pondered over what she had said starting from the point we met here. And I flared my eyes as I got another shock. Well yeah, I was so absorbed with I getting permission to work here, I didn't pay attention to her previous sentences. Though I shouldn't call it a shock as my parents had said they are totally fine with it if I'm. So it can be called erm... I don't know. But what's wrong with me? I also have started giving shocks to myself. I just let my love go crying. She had reached here panting so heavily to stop her love and I , idiot, is still standing here talking to self. Run Kabir!
I ran hastily out of the station searching for her. I never knew I had so much stamina. Leave boasting yourself Kabir! Find her!
And I kept my hands on my knees panting as I found her weeping at a bench. I knew I must have gone pink just like her. I somehow dragged my legs towards the bench and dropped my body on the bench. All energy and stamina gone!
She looked at me as she felt some presence and stood up still sobbing only to start her stride again. I admit she has more stamina than mine. So, I jerkily stood up and tightly held her by her hand as I knew I couldn't even walk then. She fidgeted my hold but I pulled her with all the might left in me and she crashed on my chest.
"I..Ih.. l..love.. youh... Nishaah" I spoke still panting.
She looked up in my eyes, "Are you sure?"
Now what's need of surety for it? This girl really! But may be because what happened at the station so she asked.
I nodded smilingly and spoke gaining my breaths, "Will you marry me?"
She wiped her face and smiled, "That's what I was talking about idiot!"
I made a face and she chuckled.
"Yeah" she said and drove herself in my embrace.
"What about kiss?" she spoke in my embrace.
I chuckled," We already did that Nisha. And I think then only you realized you love me just like I had realized then... I know it wasn't acting"
She smiled and then broke the hug pouting, "But next time onwards act professionally okay"
Well it was a warning from her and I pouted, "You too"
We both giggled and hugged again...
