IMO, I always knew it wasn't her bop to the top, 'cause Neerja was lauded as a whole. Everything came together to make a good film- direction, scripting, actors' performances etc.
It was not gonna be attributed to Sonam alone. It was Neerja the FILM that mostly won hearts. Not taking away from Sonam's performance, but I think the director used her very intelligently. Allowed her to play to her strengths and did not overexpose her.
In fact, if anyone's career was impacted by Neerja, I would say that person was Jim Sarbh. He got a lot of exposure and was universally appreciated for his performance. He will most probably get more films due to Neerja.
A lot of people predicted it would be a game changer for her, but has it done that?
If you think yes, explain why. If no, then explain it too.
