Tulsi goes silent

Gautami Gadgil aka Tulsi of Kyunki… has lost her voice. Naturally, there's chaos at the shooting of the crucial Kyunki Kahaani cross-over episodes

Gautami Gadgil, who took over Tulsi's role after Smriti Irani's exit from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, has recently lost her voice. She is suffering from severe throat infection and has been advised by her doctors not to exert her vocal chords for a few days. Balaji Telefilms and Star TV is in a fix as they are about to shoot for a special Kyunk-Kahaani… cross-over episode.

Says a source from the channel, "Gautami has a throat infection and will not be able to speak at all for a couple of days. Incidentally, we are shooting back-to-back for the Kyunki-Kahaani… cross-over episode and cannot do without her at this juncture. There is no way we can shoot it later, as the promos are already on air. "

He adds, "There was huge chaos when we came to know that Gautami can't talk at all. While shooting for the promos, she was feeling extremely ill and had to leave the sets. "

However, a possible remedy has been worked out to salvage the situation. "We are canning all the master shots and reaction shots right now. Gautami doesn't need to speak in these shots. The main scene is saved for the last day of our shoot," he says.

Says Nivedita Basu, creative director of Balaji, "Gautami came back from Dubai and called up soon after saying she has a throat infection and cannot shoot for the combo-episode. However, she came for the shooting but announced that she cannot speak her dialogues. At the moment, we are using close-up shots and dubbing the dialogues. We will keep some scenes on hold assuming that she will be fine by then."
