Eid-al-Adha also known as Bakr-Eid is the second of the two Muslim festivals celebrated each year. It falls on 10th day of Dhu-al-Hajj, last for three days and ends after sunset of 13th day of Dhu-al-Hajj.

Eid is celebrated to honor the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail on Allah's command. He was all ready to sacrifice but Allah intervened sending his angel Jibra'iil and letting him know that his sacrifice was already accepted and his son was replaced by a lamb and that''s what he sacrificed. Every year Muslims sacrifice a lamb, goat, camels or any other animal during any three days of Eid in remembrance of this day.

Eid celebration starts with Eid prayer held in Masjid after sun fully rises but before Zuhr prayer. Men, women and children are supposed to dress in their finest clothes to perform Eid prayer. After that Muslim who can afford it sacrifice their best halal animal. The meat of sacrificed animal is divided into three parts. One part is retained by the family, the other one is given to relatives and neighbors and the third one is distributed amongst the poor and needy.

The Crazy Creatives wish you all a very Happy and safe Eid.

This Eid is going to be an extra busy one because after five days from it my brother is getting married and I have no idea how I have managed to get the preparations done for both. But this Eid will be immensely especial because we'll be welcoming a new member into our choti si family . We'll first do the usual at our residential place, eat and eat till our stomachs burst and immediately leave for the family home to get it ready for the wedding .

More so and most importantly I'm going to extremely miss this year's Bakra after his qurbani because if not for that one sheep's sacrifice in place of Hazrat Ismail, today I don't think my eldest brother would have been there to be married. Allah's mercy is far reaching. This is something only those would understand who know and understand the worth of the act that Hazrat Ibrahim had been asked to do.

The celebrations for Eid ul Adha are not very different from how we celebrate Eid ul Fitr in our family. The same routine to wake up early, offer Eid namaz and prepare food for our friends and family - all thats the same. But there are aspects of this eid we don't experience here in UK. i.e. the qurbani bit. Since we live in UK, we tend to follow the practice of sending money for our qurbani back home where our relatives perform the qurbani of the animal and distribute a portion of it to the poor and needy as per the traditions of this Eid.

Similar to Eid ul Fitr, we dress up, make lots of delicious food and greet family and friends at our own house as well as visiting theirs too. Last year I was in Pakistan for eid ul adha, and helped my cousins distribute the qurbani meat to nearby poor and needy families which was so rewarding in itself since the poor were ever so grateful and showered us with so many blessings.
