- Shravan's first scene in his bedroom where he says he does not remember sumo: but right after that we see the guy noticing the odd book and remembering sumo's behavior just before he left for london. He has not seen her in 10years, has not spoken a word.. Yet feels and is aware of that girl's presence even in a crowd of 100... Did you think Shravan was not aware of Sumo's presence in the room? Did he not say that intentionally to hurt her.. to make her feel his pain when she would disregard their friendship in public?
- Shravan's memories of events from his past life specially his parent's separation: Every kid holds his parents in highest regard. I doubt any of us would tolerate the fact that someone is disrespecting or badmouthing our parents, nomatter even the slightest amount of truth to the conent. Shravan was only a teen when his parent separated. An age when every hurt is pronounced, every joy is double and every incident is marked in our memory. He remembers clearly his father and mother arguing. He remembers incidents when his father was a hands-on parent and his mom was an absentee one. The reasons, we understand as audience but to a kid, what has been a constant is his father. Was Nirmala not selfish to leave Shravan? No matter how difficult it was to stay with Ramnath but didnt she have any responsibility towards shravan and owe her son even the briefest/tiniest possible explanation. I get Ramnath blocked her attempts, threatened her but still the fact remains that she abandoned her son and that gave Ramnath opportunity to feed lies to his son. He had his own insecurities and fear. He didnt want his son to leave him and go with a mother who he thought and she actually did move in with a successful mentor/boss. So I dont blame Ramnath or Shravan.. The kid got abandoned in teenage in india, a place where its taboo.. Imagine a teenager's hurt/pain/angst for being left behind...isnt it natural in such a case to put blind trust in your parent, your only support system? So dont you feel that its right for shravan to go ahead with this marriage just to keep his father's word to his teacher/mentor, inspite of his reasons to steer clear of suman and her mess?
- Shravan's words to sumo even on the day she came to talk to him after nanu's idea of getting them married: ofcourse he used rude words..he was mean, condescending and downright cheap. But one thing we got to remember is the kind of hurt/rejection he has faced all his life and why he is says what he says. He has a whole lot of baggage...He had fighting parents, he had a friend who would not acknowledge him in public.. Would even humiliate him.. Then he had his mother leave and he "saw" her with a rich man and Sumo continued in her teenage rash/uncaring behavior... He has faced rejection time and time again from sumo in his teenage life.. So much so that he left the country.. He comes back, tries avoiding her, situations put them together and she follows him... Implores him to trust her time and again... When he starts doing that..she again breaks it by bringing Nirmala...(even if by mistake, but Sumo WAS wrong in deciding for shravan).. she does apologise and shravan softens... By now the teenage love is back and possibly doubled in intensity.. And for whatever reasons, sumo again starts her rash/uncaring/blow-hot-blow-cold behavior... That is again a rejection for shravan... call it bad luck for these two or whatever that shravan's unfounded jealousy for sumo-adi relationship becomes a reality.. The boy had dropped enough hints to sumo.. Yes, sumo was bound by her promise to ramnath and later to her nanu.. But that is not known to him... He saw his girl getting "almost" married... And yet she didnt show any remorse for the pain that shravan was feeling.. Dont you think Suman should have been humane enough to spare Shravan of such heartache specially when she knew of his love and why he had called her to that cafe that day? Yes, ramnath asked for a promise but didnt her friendship deserve any importance/respect for her to try and lessen shravan's hurt? He sees rejection, he sees hurt and pain each time he associates with sumo... And she went on to marry a practical stranger and for whatever shravan knows she accepted monetary help from adi in form of pct while rejecting him...so why should shravan want to invite pain to his life... Dont you think he might feel that this girl's first choice was aditya.. She didnt come to me herself or out of love... Her family *thinks* we're in love but she denies it... And she has given me enough heartbreak for this lifetime.. So why should I soften towards her or marry her?... Not like she loves me or I can trust her, coz she gives me hope and then makes me hopeless.. So why go through that pain again. He only verbalizes the interpretation of the picture that sumo and ramnath have painted infront of her... Just coz she didnt marry doesnt mean she chose shravan over aditya.. Aditya luckily happened to misbehave with her before wedding or else she would have been married to that douchebag...in distress she ran to him but dont you think for shravan he is still feels only rejection by sumo? Its like if you are explicitly rejected by a partner and then later that partner wants to marry you or be in a relationship with you, you wont want to be with them coz you dont want to be their second choice or you somehow cannot trust this person's ulterior motives.
- Shravan's drinking scenes: each time he drinks we get a glimpse of the amount of hurt he carries... he speaks his heart then... He feels his dream of a life with sumo is no more his dream... His only anchor is his father.. And he feels his father has been manipulated... So even though he feels he is putting himself up for a bigger heartbreak and bigger sacrifice by marrying suman who didnt choose him in the first place, he agrees to it... He says he can never trust any woman.. And it is kind of true from his view point.. Women in his life have not really cared for his pain/hurt.. Have never kept him as their prime.. All along he has been used and thrown... So dont you think his drunken outbursts are still true to the character? What has sumo done so far since the cafe incident to make him change his view on women?
- Suman's optimism about this marriage: suman's dream has been to have shravan as life partner. Of all her reasons to say yes, the reason that she trully loves shravan has been the prime-most. After having lost all hopes of being with shravan, things have magically aligned for her to get her the love of her life - shravan. The only person who she truly thinks is hers and the person with whom she might have thought of an ideal life with. Its almost like when we get whatever has been our biggest wish, even though we get it partially, we do become happy.. In our euphoria we forget to see the hurdles or not-so-perfectness of the situation... We try to make do the best with whatever is available... Dont you feel Sumo is in that phase as well...? Shravan has been mad at her in past too... But in past she had succeeded in bringing him back so dont you think thats her reason for her hope/hapiness? Also, so far, Shravan has been rude to her many times and his reasons have been very apparent to her...even this time..she knows it was her fault that shravan was having a hertbreak during the aditya phase and that he misunderstood the whole pct fiasco with aditya.. She is hopeful she'll be able to clear up these "little" issues( she terms it little but for shravan they are Mt. Everest sized issues) and hence happy.
- Sumo's decision to sacrifice for preeti and then nanu and now mami : she always sacrifices shravan and his happiness for her people... Not sure how and why but her decisions have always had big impacts on shravan's life... in all her niceness, she has always kept shravan as the last one in her priority list...she has always been a bit selfish to keep her people above shravan, for whatever reasons... So wasnt it wrong on sumo's part to decide for both of them all by herself all this while? She made a decision that shravan should meet nirmala, she made a decision that distance from shravan would be good for shravan and she made the decision that marrying aditya will not hurt shravan...was she not wrong?
- Shravan's non-realization of his fault in adi-sumo fallout: the guy has been operating on jealousy, heartache, alcohol and hatred since almost a month... He is like this freight train hurtling down the hill having lost its control on breaks...why would he stop to think? Things have happened without a day's respite... Not like there has been any cooling off in between to gather thought, introspect etc etc... People blinded by jealousy, heartache and hatred seldom stop to think or introspect until again at peace...so not sure why people exepect shravan to even remember what he has done with aditya.. Ofcourse he will repent... But they say the greater the fall, the bigger the remorse... And Sumo has always been his anchor, he has been rudderless for quite sometime to even figure where he was heading, maybe the wedding will bring that anchor back... I doubt anyone has talked much about the aditya incident as such. Do you think shravan in is dispair, hopelessness, dejection and hatred has even had a time to think? Also, what would be the trigger to his realization?
