Everytime he finds himself in an emotional situation that he dreads to face, the only solution he knows is shut the doors of his heart, push the emotion away, act as if it doesn't matter and harbour anger. In a situation of Fight or Flight, Shravan always chooses FLIGHT. Or in other words, kill the softer emotional self, and emerge as tougher stone heart. He knows no other way, he has been trained to do so by his own father, who believes in an outward approach when it comes to problems. Ramanath, always feels the problem is others. Its never him. His wife leaves him, its her fault. Never ever, for a moment does he think it could be his actions that made her to do so. He taught the same to his son, problem lies OUTSIDE. Push the problem away and you are the strongest. After all its his father who said that; and his father is always RIGHT.!!!
But is that TRUE for Shravan? Certainly not. For Shravan, his problem lies within him. His own emotions are his enemy.! His BLIND faith in his father and is absolute MISTRUST in everyone else is the PROBLEM. If the problem is outside you, you can be helped. But when it lies within, its YOU and ONLY YOU that can solve it. Shravan needs to look within himself to sort out his issues with love and emotions. BUT..!!! Looking within your heart for solutions demands certain kind of courage, it breaks myths harboured about oneself. It changes opinions; not only about others, but about oneself too. Sharavn has never had that courage.
This time around, he is in a situation where he can not push the problem SUMO away. She is here to STAY with him. She is optimistic about sorting out things. So she will definitely confront him. He can not escape her presence, nor her words. Nor can he run away, as it would bring out their fight in open. He has no other way than to CONFRONT.
Shravans marriage to Sumo will be Shravans encounter with himself. It will be a path that he has always dreaded to take. There are demons hidden. A lot of skeletons will come out of the closet. His strongest beliefs will be shattered. Ironically, he wont be able to run away this time, because its his father thats involved. His only anchor. He has nowhere to go except to face.
I believe this will be a rebirth for Shravan. Life is moving full circle for him. This is his journey to being THE Shravan he was, when his mother was around. Compassionate, lively, loving, giving and FULL of LIFE.
PS : I am kind of obsessed with the layers of Shravans character. He is an enigma..!! I am sorry if the post doesnt make sense. I am as confused as Shravan.
