I am a huge fan of this show. Mainly because it portrayed real emotions, real turmoil and real people. Relatable people.

I had a friend who fell in love with a guy. Her dad disapproved and he got her married off to another guy he did approve of. Arranged marriage y'know. They have a kid now..and they seem quite happy to me. She was angry maybe at first...but the guy she married is great. So all for the best. The boyfriend she dumped against her will..because of her dad"he got settled as well..and they are still on speaking terms.

Normal lives, normal people. But I saw it first hand, the hurt, the wounds. And the healing as well.

The dad was no villain. Parents rarely are. They want the best for us. They think they can buy us toys and clothes according to their specifications..and it has so far in our lives, satisfied us. So then the bride or groom they choose...should be good for us as well. Love marriages scare parents. For the first time ever- their kid might choose wrong...and end up in a bad state. No, no baba...marry whoever we filter and choose for you.😲

In this situation...ishwari is not a villain either. She is sick. She is super possessive. Its a medical condition called Jocasta complex i believe. This term is used to cover different degrees of attachment, including domineering but asexual mother love - something perhaps particularly prevalent with an intelligent son and an absent/weak father figure. The 'Jocasta mother', with an unfulfilled adult relationship of their own and over-concern for their child instead, as a prime source of neurosis. For her, her son was the only thing she lived for. She has, in her race, to provide for her son(and for her girls)...repressed memories of all her life before him.In her mind, it begins and ends with him. She lights up at the mere thought of having a day out with her son. All moms do. But they know, when its time for their children to go out with their significant other..and when its time for them to take time out for their parents. That comes from a balanced mindset..which sadly, Ishwari lacks.

There is a very true quote by Tagore.."When something new arrives, the old has to exit." That's the way of the world. In verity, no mother likes being replaced by a new shiny model, in the form of her son's wife or hand over the supreme control she had in every decision as the Lady of the House. No dad likes becoming the second most important man in his daughter's life. They hate to think that their kid would not, now run to them ,when they are hurt or hug them first when they are happy. But yes, most parents know, that their child needs someone to be with all their lives.

Parents sadly, do not live forever. Cruel, but true.

My dad often tells me, he would like to shoot the as yet non-existent guy who might take me away(I am his only child to boot)😳. But he would love to see me settled because he cannot bear to leave me without someone to take care of me. No matter how big I grow..or what money I earn..or how matured I am...I am his little girl, who needs a bodyguard. Preferably with a few grandkids to complete the picture.😆

Anyway..so we saw exactly what Ishwari did. She is in denial...she stopped seeing how hurt and pathetic Dev is right now. She is there for him. Why does he need anyone else? Her daughters understand her. They saw it, felt it first hand..that their mother cannot stand any girl within three finger breadths of their brother. Ria, Nikki substituted Neha as their Mom...Neha got angrier everyday as she grew up without a mom and Dad.

However,Dev never felt that. His Mom was always his. Totally his and he knew it. Their fathers death had somehow replaced him as the man of the house..and of course his mom was the lady of the house. The son adores his mom...and he should..Ishwari has given her life for his sake...there is no denying the greatness of that single mother. If she was Dev's mom..she was his mom with a grace second to none.

But today, Dev cannot share everything with his mom. If they were more best friends, than mother son..he might have. But he would rather not burden her anymore with his worries, his troubles. Ishwari always pesters him to tell her his problems at work and he never does. Of course not.

He never told her about the love of his life either. In his subconscious he is aware of his mother's possessiveness regarding him. He feels suffocated by it somewhere. He wanted to protect Sonakshi from that influence his mother has...like a weed strangling the flowers. For the only time ever..he had a precious gem..and like a child he jealously guarded it...maybe because he knew already, his mother will not allow him to keep it.

"I need you for myself"

When Sonakshi came into his life..she became everything to him. A best friend, a lover..a support system, a valve to outpour all his woes and he trusts that she will solve everything. Remember how he asked her to talk to Neha about her lehenga?...and somehow, sonakshi always seemed to mother him a bit, pulling rabbits out of her hat to solve his complicated life.

Its not about losing the love of his life. its about losing the only friend he has as well.

Emotionally Dev is impulsive. He is obstinate..wants what he wants at any cost..and never cares what the other person might feel. In his mind, he is damn ruthless. Its a price to pay for growing up too fast and having too many responsibilities and too little outlets. He has money for the best, he will pay and it has to be his. He realises that money cannot buy everything. But he never realised one thing. Some things are just not for sale. Like Ranveer and Sonakshi.

I don't know what he would have done that day, when he proposed Sonakshi...if she had told him she already had a boyfriend or something. It never crossed his mind. Sonakshi backtracked because of Natasha. But Dev just reached out and took Sonakshi.

He hated Neel and Kushal, and they were not even anything to Sona. Imagine his ire on Ritwik. Dev screamed with frustation when Sona called him her Fiance.

Dev had no intention of spoiling her date with Ritwik. He only went there to observe their equation. He was super satisfied with what he saw. No chemistry whatsoever.Dev knew Sona had not moved on. But their fights had upset him a bit.Yesterday confirmed it. He mocked Ritwik yesterday with the title Mr. Fiance..because he saw tht Ritwik was nothing but a friend. "ye tumse pyar ki koi ummeed nahi rakh sakta..."

Dev loves Sonakshi. He cannot exist in a world where she is not his. He would never find any need to look at any other woman. She is THE ONE. For the same reason, he sees an invisible stamp on Sona. A stamp of Devrath Dixit. He kept doing it..tatooing her with their names and being very pleased with it.He said it yesterday...YOU ARE MINE.

Its starnge how alike the mother and son are. Putting aside the obvious insanity quotient of Ishwari...both are stubborn, and even if they are wrong, they are unrepentant. Both are ultra possessive..and unfeeling about what the object of their love might be feeling. Sonakshi knows Dev only too well. She knew it but she accepted him unconditionally.

No matter how much she may have been hurt by his solo decision to stay away..she loves him. She hates seeing the iron man crumble. She knows what it took to build Dev Dixit...and she hates seeing him reduced to devdas.

Humpty Dumpty sat on a wall..humpty Dumpty had a great fall

All the Kings horses and all the kings men could not put humpty dumpty together again.

No woman who ever loved him as deeply as she did could have seen it. You know the story where two women fight over a baby..and when the judge orders the baby to be halved and distributed among them...the real mother is willing to give up, just to save her baby? Sadly, in this case, the real mother, Ishwari cannot see it.

Sonakshi cannot refuse him anything. Yes, he has just to call her name..and she will run to him.

In the immortal words of Juliet to Romeo,

"I'll lay my fortunes at Thy feet and follow Thee my Lord, throughout the world"

Of course, Ritwik is nothing but what he so aptly put to Bijoy Bose "Itne saare log, chhupne ki acchi jagah hai na". An escape.to keep the marionette standing even when her strings are cut.

Yesterday's conversation altered nothing in Dev's mind. He has never meant to mend his pathetic ways of tying Sona to him. If anything it just made him realise again that Sona was his.He tried bravado mirroring hers, when he asked her to invite him. But its not to see and move on. Its to see her going away...and die inside.

Temporarily he might stop..but Ishwari's betrayal would shove him in that arena again. He may have meant yesterday's promise, just to stop hurting Sonakshi. But his anger with his mother will bubble up and explode, even if he hugs her after knowing what she did😕.He is weak...and he was never good with promises anyway.

Ritwik knew everything yesterday. One glance at the both of them together. He knew. It was glaringly obvious, Dev and Sonakshi have their rights stamped on each other. So like the gentleman he seems to be...he showed Dev and Sona the mirror. Believe it or not, he has wisely, already given up on Sona...and packed his bags.

He knows Dev won't give up.
