I think Shravan was hurt by Sumo's gesture as he thought Sumo's so disgusted by his interference, that she had to give up her most precious belonging to emphasize her point. His tears showed that he understood how much he hurt Sumo by doing what be did that she had to go to these extremes to get over any of his debt. Perhaps he is also pained by the realization that the bestfriend who so heavily relied on him is now so much averse to his any help. He looked so shell-shocked!/And then,while leaving the place, his last glance had this-is-what-mean-to-you look... the guy's still got it very, very bad.
