I have heard of a clan of Rajputs known as Suryavanshi Rajputs........

This whole concept does not make sense to me........

A rajput is a Kshatriya who descends from fire..........Kshtriyas descended from the sun have their own subdivision.......known as Suryavanshis (my subdivision)...

If this is true.........how can suryavanshi also be a rajput subdivision.......How can someone descend from both fire and the sun???

Interesting topic..As far as I understand about Rajputs, they belong to three lineages: the Suryavanshi (Solar Race), the Chandravanshi (Lunar Race), and the Agni vanshi (Fire Born). So Agni Vanshi is a lineage or a clan of Rajputs. Also there is a myth that Rajput clans had descended from fire, as per the myth after Parshuram exterminated all the kshatriyas from the earth, Guru Vashishtha undertook a yagya to create warriors who can protect the ordinary people from cruel demons... During this yagya four warriors originated from yagya kund(sacred fire)..The names of four warriors were Agnikul, Yadaukul, Suryakul and Odak.. This is called a myth as it states that only Rajputs are real kshatriyas and this myth is said to have originated from Rajput history only..

I have a limited knowledge on this, but have a lot of rajput friends. So came to know about this from them..Interesting thing is some of them say its a Agnivanshi myth that they descended from Fire and some say its true.. Since I have also stayed in south india, so I know even they have kshatriya among them..Nairs,Rajus and many more are known to be Kshatriyas from south india.. History is always interesting to discuss.. 😊 Though I hated this in my school days when learning the historical events and that too in chronological order😕 was a pain...

Yes I agree casteism is certainly a bane to hindu society and its high time the caste system is removed from our society for good....But I think we can be still proud about our legacy at least the legacies that does not differentiate between two human being.. My mom is also a proud brahmin lady, she made sure that we all learn all mantras and pooja vidhi along with the convent education that we got..
