It was no secret that he loved his siblings to bits. He liked being a lone ranger where their safety was concerned.
Someone's evil eyes had turned towards his brother Om aiming to tarnish the pure souls reputation. Shivaay had pulled on his lone ranger mask and removed the thorn from his brothers path.
His refusal to answer his family as to why he left for an important work on his little sister's day had resulted in him earning his family member's ire.
Om has been ignoring him for two days now and Rudra spoke to him in the manner of a miffed child. Daadi tone was disappointed and Priyanka had asked him if he was fed up of celebrations like Rakhshabandhan.
Shivaay Singh Oberoi was truly drained. He had pulled a recliner to the poolside and was lying on it trying to not feel too depressed.
The sound of something clattering made him look up. His lips pulled into a thin line.
This is the last straw he muttered to himself.
"What is it Anika?" Shivaay asked
In answer she offered him a mug. As the aroma of espresso wafted out of it, he felt himself relaxing a little
" Here is your kaali coffee" Anika said with a smile "I got some help from Internet to make it"
Shivaay reluctantly took the cup. Even though almost all from his family praised her cooking, he was still vary. The taste of burned pasta was still lingering in his mouth.
" Don't worry, I haven't spoiled it this time" Anika offered.
As he took the first sip, a little more of the knots in his body loosened.
" How is it? " came a nervous query.
"Surprisingly well made" Shivaay replied.
"You do know I am a caterer right?" Anika was miffed.
"Yeah and served me burned pasta" scoffed Shivaay
" Well then have some fresh unburned scones"
A plate with three delicious smelling scones were placed before him.
Shivaay raised a brow. The person he was sure was going to lecture him until his ear falls off, was offering him scones?
" You are feeling okay right? Do you not want to lecture me? Say to me that I don't value my family "
"Though I do enjoy lecturing you, this time you are not wrong. There is something more important than your family's happiness" Anika answered
Unable to find an answer, Shivaay stared at his troublemaker wedding planner.
" Their safety. Recently yourfamily has had quiet a few run ins with accidents. I have seen how concerned you were and I don't think that concern was a farce" Anika explained.
" I am miffed at you for making Priyanka cry. But I believe you went out that day because maybe something was threatening your family's security"
A few more parts of his tension went off. It was surprising how life extended comfort from strange corners.
"I know you have had two very bad days and I thought you could use some cheering up. What better way than food to cheer up"
A hint of smile appeared on Shivaay Singh Oberoi's regal face.
"Thank you" he said, still not quiet believing his ears.
As she turned to go back Anika added
"We both agree on one fact Mr Oberoi - Family is life and we will do anything to protect that life"
Shivaay gave a silent nod in agreement.
