I grew up in a film loving family. Like most families, watching films in a theatre was a family outing on the weekends. We watched most movies. There are a very few movies which I can remember that I never was tagged along when I was young.
As I grew up (in teens), I would start recommending which movies to see. Going movies all alone for some reason wasn't allowed 🤔 back then.
I'm sure, like me, you have wtinessed many instances where the family watching experience got suddenly impacted by the movie's proceedings. Especially during the times when not a lot was known about the movie post release (pre social media era).
Here are some of my noteworthy cringe worthy watching experience:
1. Aitraaz - PC & Akki's "love me like an animal scene"... I was sitting next to my dad... and I didn't know where to look. At the screen or on the ground. 😆
2. Damini - Court interrogation scene ... "Haath Kahaan Pe the"... 😕 This movie/theme was certainly not PG. And I was too young to understand the nuances of such questions.
3. Rangeela - Everything was fine, until Jackie Shroff came on screen and Urmila turned into a Kamasutra teacher. 😆 I remember being reprimanded by my Mom. with a "Khabardaar warning" "Besharam Bacche" 😉
4. Satya - The flowery language by the underworld gang. Tauba! It was a big step in 1998.
5. Govinda/ Karisma songs - Aaa Eee Uuu Uu... Sarkailo Khattiya,, Meri Pant Bhi Sexy...
