The reason why the Sonabir "friendship" broke is because of Sonam and Ranbir. They've had all this time post the R-RK-DP breakup to patch up and they haven't.

Sonam and Ranveer clearly have not been particularly close even before Ranveer started dating DP

Sonam-Ranbir's so-called friendship broke, when Sonam started harboring feelings for RK and he didnt reciprocate. Its obvious Sonam must have done something very nasty, else why would RK (who is friends with his ex) stay away from Sonam. She does look like a bratty girl.

as for Ranveer not being pally with her, no surprises, After all who can tolerate such an obnoxious girl.

So ranveer comes from film industry too but he always says like he comes from a simple family background.
