For him to put Raja down is more important than any exam. I don't think he will be positive suddenly out of air. Especially on TV serials, in reality might be, but not on TV serials, as such things attract viewers.

But how would Jeevan know that Raja would reveal this to rani that he told him about the promise? If he would have himself revealed it to rani that he was behind raja's show up in exam then may what u r saying would have been believable. Raja would feel let down even when Jeevan gets the project, so why would Jeevan give up an exam?

Jeevan is very smart and intelligent though in evil way, he knows well Raja will tell its him, coz Raja no matter being in revenge mood, but still he blabber the truth, even in childhood he fell many times into Jeevan's trap, remember when he burned the file in childhood and then blame was on Raja, it was in such way that it seems Raja who did it. Jeevan is not foolish to go directly to Rani and tells her that he himself is behind all this, he doesn't want to show to Rani that he is doing ehsaan on Raja, but he wants to show that he is clean at heart and always wants the good for Raja. He knows well that Rani will question who told you to Raja, so surely Raja will say it's Jeevan in such emotional moment, Jeevan knows well that Raja is emotional.

Yup may be you are right. As of now I am loving this track, zaan is acting superbly as Jeevan. Esha too is a gr8 actress. I liked Jeevan as a negative character too, his bg is scary 😆. I wouldn't mind Jeevan being negative. But as of now he seems much more likeable than Raja.
