Shraman Ts: Amidst the wedding!
(Suman's POV)
The house is a chaotic mess, filled with guests and squealing kids. It is Pushkar and Preeti's wedding day. I can't explain how happy I am for my little sister and my friend. I'm sure they're the happiest people on earth today. I guess this is how you feel when you get to spend your whole life with the person you love. What am I thinking? I should focus on making this day special for Preeti. I poured some tea into a cup and something to eat before heading toward Nanu's room. On my way out, I instructed Preeta to take care of everyone's breakfast. How would I do this without Preeta? She is always there for me. I entered Nanu's room to see his eyes closed. He had his back against the headrest.
"Nanu!" His eyes opened and he smiled at me. "Tu aaj ke din bhi poore time pe nashta le kar aayi hai" he was impressed.
"Aur nahi to kya nanu. Mujhe jitne bhi kaam hon, mere liye to aap sabse pehle" Nanu just laughed shaking his head.
"Acha ab yeh nashta karke, apni medicines lena mat bhooliyega" I said in a stern voice "Aur main aapke kapde nikal deti hoon" I took out an off white colored Kurta Pyjama for Nanu and headed downstairs to check on all the arrangements. Oh god! I have so much to do. But first of all, I should go the hotel to see if everything is getting ready. I informed mamiji and left for the hotel or should I say 5-star hotel as per chachiji's demands? I hope she doesn't find something to whin about in this hotel also. But I'm pretty confident she will be left speechless seeing everything. I checked everything, from the decorations, to food, to DJ to all the minor details. It was perfect! I sighed contently! No one can dare complain today. I am actually kind of proud of myself! I chuckled.
I head back home, picking some things that Preeti needed, from a nearby store. Upon reaching home, I march straight to Preeti's room. It's time for her to start getting ready. The girls from salon are here to get her ready.
"Preeti! My darling!" She was talking on phone. Ughh!! These two!! They can't even wait for a couple hours more. I grab the phone from her hand and threaten my to-be Jiju not to call before the wedding anymore. He sulked and then hung up. It made me smile. These two are the cutest. "Chalo ab ready ho jao"..."Ok di! Waise bhi mujhe boht time chahiye ready hone ke liye" she stated as a matter of fact. I just shook my head and left her with the ladies.
In between all the chaos, my phone rings adding some more noise to the already bustling house. All my stress fades away when I look at the name flashing on the screen. Shravan! Only name that could make my heart flutter. I pick up the phone to be greeted by his sexy voice. Sexy? Where did that come from Sumo? I scolded myself.
"Hello Sumo! Kya kar rahi ho?" His question annoyed me.
"Main TV dekh rahi hoon! Dekhoge mere saath." I could hear him chuckle on the other end.
"Isme funny kya hai. Ofcourse, mai shaadi ki preparations me busy hoon." I huffed
"Arrey maine to vaise hi poocha tha. I knew tumne ek minute bhi rest nahi ki hogi, isliye maine socha call karleta hoon. Kuch der ke liye hi sahi, tum relax to ho jaogi" Oh he knows me so well! He's the only person who can take my mind away from work. Only if I could have him forever. I have stopped avoiding him. That night made me realize that I can't stay away from him. My heart had stopped beating when he didn't respond to all the knocking on his car window. I had thought something happened to him...but that irresponsible idiot was sleeping like a log in the middle of the road. When he opened the door, I had yelled at him for being so careless and stubborn to make me sleep. I couldn't stop myself from hugging him even though I had a promise to keep. To hell with the promise when my Shravan was in trouble! Shravan had hugged me back and Ramnath had reached there at the exact moment. Pushkar had followed him. Ramnath uncle had reminded me of his promise and I had told him that I have no control over my feelings. I had said that I won't tell Shravan about my feelings but no one can stop us from being best friends. I break out of my train of thoughts when I hear him calling out my name. I shake my head to come back to the present.
"Haan Shravan! Acha hua tumne call kar liya. I was actually looking for someone to entertain me." I teased
"Acha to, what kind of entertainment would you like?" I knew from his tone that he was smirking. Oh so you want to flirt Mr. Malhotra!
"Kuch aisa jo meri ek tension door karde."
"Kiss..." I heard him say. What?? What is he saying? Ab kya kahoon? Kya kahoon? My heart picked up double pace when his next words made me want to punch him in the face.
"tension me ho tum? Kis tension me ho tum Sumo?" I could hear him stifle his laugh. Ugh! This flirt!
"Kuch nahi! Mujhe koi bhi tension ho tumhe kya?" I don't know why I was this mad? Maybe I had wanted that kiss for real! Noo! Sumo kya soch rahi hai??
"Don't worry Sumo! Sab ache se ho jayega. Mujhe tumpar poora bharosa hai" this made me smile and all my worries vanished in an instant. How did he do this? Make me feel better every time.
"Hmm! I hope so!" is all I could say.
"Acha tum yeh batao tum kya pehn rahi ho?"
"Yeh to surprise hai. Main nahi bataungi!" I answered mischievously.
"This is not fair Sumo!"
"Everything is fair in love and war!" I heard myself saying. Oh no! Why do I never have control over what I say when I'm talking to him.
"What are we in?"
"Huh?"
"What are we in? Love or war?" I'm speechless. I don't know what to say. I ignore his question.
"uhh..Shravan mujhe mamiji bula rahi hain. Hum shaadi mein milenge. Bye!" I made an excuse after getting trapped in my own words. This happens quite often these days. We have started flirting, I always get conscious when he's around me, we still fight like idiots but I often find him staring at me and then looking away at being caught. I can feel the temperature rising when he's close to me. He starts to take over my senses and I always find myself forget about Ramnath uncle's promise. I always have to remind myself. Mamiji's voice brings me back to the present. This also happens a lot these days. I laugh at myself and leave to help mamiji.
I went to check on Preeti if she needs anything. I find her ordering the girls to do everything perfectly. Her life is so fascinating. I wish I could also fly like a free bird. Why is my life so complicated? Why can't it be simple like my sister's? I keep my thoughts aside for the moment and be happy in Preeti's happiness. When everything was ready for the evening, I decide to get ready myself. Everyone was ready to go. I go with mamaji, mamiji, and Preeti in my car and rest everyone leaves in the rented cars.
