Everyone is allowed an off episode and seemed like yesterday was one of those for the KRPKAB team...
Irritating everyone in the house is one thing but checking someone's phone... Picking the call and asking the person to answer!!!! Impropriety is not something I expect RR to understand but as she keeps reminding everyone - Sona is not family! She has her own family, hospital, life (hopefully!) and anyone can call...

It's a beautiful show and does not need such cheap thrills... Obviously it was for the nail biting effect... Will they be caught... Will they... Won't they...!
But the point is they are not hiding a crime, they are just not yet sharing their most beautiful truth.
If it was about the thrills... Then when Sona said hello, let it be Dev's call she picked.
If you start something then finish it ...
It would have been worth seeing if it was actually Dev's voice on the other side, RR's reaction, Ishwari's reaction and Dev's!

Dev can easily cover up saying 'calling to talk about mom's health as her knee problem is getting worse' and asking RR why she is picking up the Doc's phone. He has stressed the 'she is a Doc' point before clearly to RR...
The reaction here would have been worth seeing...
(But of course, the big reveal is scheduled for later...)

I also liked what someone said in another post that it would have been better if Sona had picked up the phone with soiled hands and just cut the call.

The whole Sona-Dev scenes later played as husband-wife...
She doesn't share the RR episode as he has just come back from work, tired and no need to pull him in kitchen politics...
Her coming with nimbu paani, the brief massage, the words every husband wants to hear 'you are doing everything right'...

But through the day, Sona didn't get a chance to call him back or message him? Just to say, 'sorry missed your call and maybe talk later'... ??
We normally do that with our boyfriends... Or husbands... Or friends for that matter...

This is not an Ekta Kapoor show and we have built expectations and very honestly, such cheap thrills are not needed ... in fact it was not thrilling at all...

The only thing that stood out in the episode (other than Sona-Ishwari's) conversation... was Dev saying, "I don't just want to talk about things with you but I want to... Forget it'
He does not consider Sona as an outsider but his mom's words are subconsciously playing in his head and bringing a brief check to his openness with her. - A minor version of what the story really is... 'A brief check in the natural flow of a relationship as mother's words or actions hold you back a little'...
A bit of mind influencing where it was all heart... Kya paate hain, kya khote hain, jab dillon ke rishte dimag se hote hai...

Thanks for making this post. My sentiments exactly.

Some additional thoughts--

The Ishwari/Sona conversation was quite ok except that I liked Sona's earlier more practical style of conversing with her. I used to like how earlier Ishwari would open up and Sona would listen and speak less. In fact that was her styel earlier. I suppose she converses with greater familiarity now because she feels closer to Dev's family.

About the scene with RR - less said the better. Lazy writing by creatives. There are better ways to show interactions with a difficult family member with whom confrontation is difficult but need to be handled with tact..

Sona/Dev scene - I suppose the creatives wanted to bring in the aspect of Sona being there for Dev for not just his emotional/family related issues but even to help him feel better after a hard day's work. Again here I fell the writing could have been more subtle. It is not necessary for her to alleviate his day's stress by providing an opinion on his work related situation, not very credible.

Visually the episodes do not paint a picture of an educated, sensible, hard working professional girl which was expected to be one of the differentiating factors of this show.

I like your summary of yesterday's episode, made me feel better:). However, to a new viewer unfamiliar with the story till date, this is how the episode comes across -

- girl comes to future MIL and listens to her issues
- girl cooking lunch for her employers
- girl acts foolish when she receives a phone call as though it is a rare occurrence
- girl has nothing to say (not even a light hearted sarcastic comment) when faced with a crass RR
- girl waits for bf, sends him to his room in his own house and offers refreshments in his own house
- super girl cures him of his headache and swiftly makes him feel better about a complex business decision that was written about in the media
- super girl is not done. since she has no life of her own these days or anything to share about her own life, she proceeds to try and fix yet another knotty problem faced by the hapless Dixits

I was just reflecting that in real life relationships, it is actually the woman who shares more about her day and life and seeks opinions/reassurances. The situation here is so reversed that she has no emotional needs from this relationship. I think the creatives need to put on their creative caps to restore depth to her character...

I agree that this is still a daily soap and very tough to check all the boxes. The show has been so good in so many ways that expectations are more :) in fact I would not bother to critique the kind of junk we have on Indian TV at the moment but this show has been so wonderful that it is tough to hold back and not have expectations.

I think just about everyone agrees that this wasn't their best episode. This is one ailment most TV shows suffer from, more so for daily shows.
They started with a bang, great premise, excellent characterization but after a while in the process of ensuring daily dose of intrigue and drama it's as if they are running out of ideas and resorting to cheap tactics. Situations that are not character/plot driven but contrived and forced just for the sake of it.

Hopefully they get their mojo back and give us more of the quality episodes they are capable of.

WORD !!

Sometimes it's like a charity case for Sona the saint where its all about Sona giving all the emotional relief happiness to the Dixits but getting nothing in return and as if she is dealing with lesser mortals and above all human weaknesses. This way they would just be making Sona more boring than interesting.

Thank you for the feedback...

So true. This is a daily soap (wish it was a book though. It has all the potentials of being a good one)...
it's tough to maintain the same level of sanity in all episodes...

Since the 100th episode, Felt they are trying to pack a lot in one episode... The 100th episode covered a lot and even yesterday, they were glazing over many things...

You are so right in how a newcomer would see the episode... :)

I kind of felt the same way.

Sona was trying extra hard with Ishwari - maybe because she got a bit of scolding a day earlier!
The trying extra hard went a step further in the kitchen - didn't know she could knead dough!
RR - Ignore. (But I am so fierce about my personal space that it was so difficult to ignore :) )
Dev - Sona - just felt like she had a whole day of kitchen politics and didn't find time to do anything else. Then when he returns, she turns into the perfect daily soap bahu.

The way they are currently treating Sona's characterisation, she is at a risk of turning into the daily soap perfection of a bahu. Someone who needs nothing, bears everything, is there for everyone and solves everyone's issues...
Hope the makers not cross that line... :)

The exact representation of all bahus on TV today. Sona, the human is what we want to see. Bahu, the Saint are everywhere :)

Absolutely agree with you. RR, Sona n Ishwari scene - absolute cringeworthy 😡 there were several ways Sona cud hav handled the situation smartly, but the writers wanted to show her as meek and bechari, pleading GKB. 😡 I agree they should have shown it as Dev's call to make it realistic. But Sona allowing RR to pick her call n then even agreeing to say Hello was plain disturbing. About Ishwari, the less is said, the better. She just waits for the insult to get over to say, pls dnt do this to bechari Sona. 😡

Even I want Dr. Bose to get serious about her career asap. We have waited for it long enough. There is no tampering with Dev's career, so why there is no focus at all on Sona's career. She is reading articles, taking interests about Dev's business, why can't she take some time for her own professional aspirations or is getting married to Dev her only aspiration now.
In yest. episode when Dev asked her 'what did u do all day?' N her response was 'aapko yaad kiya'. Leave aside the romantic part, she actually has no work to do. Dr. Bose...where is the strong independent middle class girl, jiske liye uska profession and self respect hi sab kuch hota hai. All of us could relate so much to the original Dr. Bose but not now. Sincerely hoping our views reaches to the writers.

This was my exact complaint regarding Dev's love sick puppy phase. No concern or regard for business related issues.

Romance is tasteful when it's subtle. It loses its charm when all the lead pair does is whisper sweet nothings to each other all day and put everything else on the back burner.
