After days of heady excitement, nervous tension, and edge-of-the-seat moments, the day of reckoning is finally here. Tonight, as the Fame Jodi aspirants sing their way into television history, there will be some who will have more at stake in the proceedings, involved as they were in honing the contestants' personalities and polishing their rough edges.
One of Bollywood's most respected voices, Mahesh Bhatt, who has helped the contenders handle their jitters when dealing with the media, feels that all the three Jodis — Qazi-Ruprekha,
Rex-Ruprekha, Rex-Qazi — have what it takes to become the winning Jodi, but he's putting his money on Qazi and Ruprekha. Never one to shy away from giving his pearls of wisdom, Bhatt feels that "Ruprekha should bring a courtesan kind of flourish to her act if she's to get the voters' approval." Qazi, Bhatt says, has a "charisma that lingers like perfume long after the source has gone, and an audacity that makes him unafraid to lose — both unmistakable traits of a winner." As for Rex, "he's street-smart and a natural, but a dash of Ruprekha and Qazi in his personality won't hurt," Bhatt opines.
Bharat and Dorris Godambe have helped the three performers with grooming tips on how to appear savvy, sophisticated and sensible while singer Sonu Nigam has shared with the candidates the all-important mantra of taking the audience along with them. Fashion designer Neeta Lulla has worked on their dress sense and advised them on what looks best on each. "Ruprekha has lost a lot of weight so I have opted for an ultra glam look for her, there isn't much room for Rex so he's been given a formal look, while Qazi has his very own distinct leather jacket kind of persona," says Lulla.
Now that the D-day is upon us, dear voters, one prays that it all comes together for the Fame Jodi hopefuls on Sony Entertainment Television's Fame Gurukul.
