So the creative team pulls up their socks to redeem themselves to certain degrees. No idea how much they've achieved what they wanted to but yes, I kind of enjoyed the episodic narration barring a few misses along the way.
To begin with the entire Anika drama could have been avoided. The way story is rushing itself out on that front makes me want to ship them to Timbuktu and never have them back together in a single frame. Their story is taking shittier turns with every waking hour and no I don't buy the manhandling-waala-pyaar under any circumstances! I don't know in what world a woman would willingly fall in love with a guy who abuses her at every moment possible. Shivaay in front of Anika's turns into a dreaded monster no one wants to be associated with. I hitting at the possibility that the guy's got a Dissociative Identity Disorder.
Anyways let us skip over that one bit of the episode and get to Svetlana and Co. who have really taken me by surprise more so because their presence revealed a completely different side to Tej. So Tej like a man zeroing down on all possibilities comes to threaten Svetlana over the leaked video clip. He is sharp to narrow down her as a possible suspect for the video clearly showed her boudoir where the two lovers had been having a great escape. But I believe the wrong kind of genes run in the Oberoi family when it comes to women. They choose the sinister ones over the real genuine girls who care. Svetlana spins a sob story and makes an escape with Tej's warning that he will destroy her if she indeed is the turncoat. Tej might want to divorce Jhanvi but he cares for his son. In whatever twisted manner he might harbor that love, thing is does. Maybe that was the repenting of year long tortures or a genuine affection that every parent have for their child...Tej cares. I'd like to see more of him and Om. If he had cared about his sons what went so wrong that he turned into the quintessential cold man that he is now. And if there had been no warmth whatsoever previously whatever happened that Tej now feels guilty that he could never be the father that Om had needed. Clearly that role was played by Shivaay for both Om and Rudra. Tej doesn't seem to be the proverbial snake in the garden as he had been projected so far. It gets me to my next question is he the king in this game or a simple pawn who thinks it is elevated to that one status. Shakti is certainly creepier than what he seems to be but what about Tej exactly? Is he with all his fiber the bad man or he has just taken to the mask of the same?
So our Roop Bua makes it clear that she has been the one conspiring with Svetlana all the while to scrape the bottom of the Oberois and bring them down to their knees. Why is another question we need an answer to? So far the clear indication is that Svetlana wants the coveted position of Mrs. Oberoi and Roop is playing along for something more sinister. All the loopholes in security left by Svetlana had been used by Roop to the best of her abilities and she managed to do a Trojan horse after all. Roop seems to be holding on her own but Svetlana hints that she might have much more to do with this family than she shows. When Tej said he loves Om she immediately jumps the gun saying she loves him too. I don't know but this one statement gave a violent shove to my theories, into a serious direction. What if Svetlana and Om have shared a common past with Svetlana choosing his father over him? We all know to what extent the woman can stoop to, she has nothing to lose and nothing to fear...so could it be that she had been toying with both father and son? Om's hatred doesn't seem to stem from his mother's misfortunes alone. He has an added edge while dealing with Svetlana, so are we to believe that they indeed have a mutual history that no one as yet knows of.
If that indeed were true then we can rest assure that Roop will use it to her advantage at one point or the other. She seems to be clawing for all petty details that she can get her hands on. These details individually might not be able to give her what she wants but together it will be a lethal weapon to wield no doubt. I like both Vishwapreet and Reyma as Roop and Svetlana. They certainly add the zing factor that is there.
And now the best part of the episode. Shivaay after rattling Anika to his heart's content is back to his home worrying over Om and his stupid stunt that he pulled previously. You can see he is both disappointed and anxious over the present condition of his brother. He has had to play a multiple role for all his siblings. He played their brother, father, mother, best friend and guide all this while having no one to take up a similar role for him. He seems to be the person who has completely by passed his childhood to grow into a man before it was required of him. This character has so much potential but the CV's have an unhealthy fixation over making him a typical MCP. Seems like I will soon have to bid adieu, to the hopes of seeing his potential growth.
Shivaay rushed off to Om's room after assuring his Dadi. He sees that Om is an much better condition than what he had left him at. Wordlessly as he came, he moves out only to have Om call him out from behind. He chooses to ignore him and passes a passive message through Rudra that he is not interested in listening to any explanations from a man that selfish. He rushes off to the kitchen with Om following him like a puppy begging for his owners love. You could see that Om was guilty of all that he did, of the situation that he put his brother whom he hero worships despite all his faults. But then again it was Shivaay who needs a bit of work to be done before one can reach his heart. So as expected Shivaay is shaking with suppressed anger refusing to take help from Om into making his coffee/tea/beverage! Om all the while is like that young child who knows he did wrong but is unable to pin point the method in which he can beg for his share of forgiveness. When all else fails Om hugs his brother making him listen to his plea. He lets it out that he didn't want to die at all; all he wanted was an escape...yes he took an overdose but he didn't want to leave him and hut his eyes forever. This is when the dam breaks and Shivaay hits out to him physically and speaks out that he has never stopped him from doing anything, the only thing he has never allowed him to do is leave him or Rudra as his life belongs to him.
That was one beautiful and serene scene to put it mildly. The brothers have the best chemistry with each other than they'll ever have with their sets of love interest. This oozing out of love from all direction is the reason I am here. I don't want to see love stories as of yet, let that wait. It is the love between the brothers that makes me go on a high. This is the reason behind me buying a ticket for this particular series, your loves stories and comic elements can have a background element...I hardly care on that part. And by god Kunal and Nakul are back to delivering their characters in ways that they can. Previous episodes had been so disappointing on that front, I can now inhale with prolonged peace that they are back and how.
So Rudra jumps in to hug then and again the moment passes and it turns awkward. Seriously what is wrong with boys to go moment nikal gaya'??
Okay one glaring question that found me is that why was Rudra not taken care of? Obviously he being the youngest one has been constantly shielded from the harsher gash of reality by both Shivaay and Omkara. Today he is exposed to his father's blatant affair and his brother's near escape from death how can Shivaay overlook his share of pain? Rudra gets panic attacks, we saw that when Shivaay had been admitted in the hospital and had been lying there like a fresh cadaver. So how is it that they are skimming over him at moment? He has never really seen the true daylights of pain all thanks to Shivaay and Om keeping him under a constant watch. Today when he was exposed to the same, how is it that they don't rush to guard him the way they always do. He craves attention as that was the precise thing he was denied as a child. His instinctive craving for a perfect family is still not over so why not give him something on this front? Leenesh was good with his scenes but he had a tiny fragment of the story to hold and deliver. Distribute your scenes well writers, it leaves scope for loopholes...something that none of us are ready to watch at all.
Precap: The shitty drama continues with Shivaay going all out to irritate Anika. I had no idea tha ta Richie Rich such as him had time to plan such petty revenge.
P.S. I miss Soumya so much! She clearly is my favorite female protagonist, cute, bubbly and a foodie!
So I guess this is a wrap.
