an ode to love ... the love which is almost pure in its portrayal ...he articulated the word ... LOVEYes it was love ... love when the meaning of the word was not clear .. love when the deep emotion behind those words were not understood ... love when the commitment of those words was not deciphered... love when the feeling of peace behind the word was not felt ... love when the feeling of belonging was not held ... love when the power behind those words was not witnessed ...but it was love ... because he could not help love ...he could not help love her ... cause simply she was the other half of his whole ... she was his soulmate .. the one who destiny had fated to be HIS ...Beautifully encapsulated the teenage love of Shravan...👏👏Usually it is difficult for me to be drawn to teenage love stories..(no nothing wrong in them at all😉 just that I like this genre to be heavy on emotion and this age is not meant for taking life so seriously...but l maintain any love reel or real, that is able to stand the test of time irrespective of its origins on time deserves attention. This story had that going for it. An angst which when reflected upon seemed silly almost had my complete attention simply becos of its treatment. It seemed right for Shravan to carry that hurt in his heart as right as it seemed that Sumo was just a well-meaning bully(if there is one😆)A few tumbles & rocky journeys passed ... with the new word in his heart ... MOVED ON ...a mask he wore ... to quiet the war between the heart & mind .. he had thought he had succeeded ...he had thought he had conquered the weak debilating emotion .. an emotion which had the power to hurt ... an emotion which had the power to change the course of his destiny ... an emotion which made him WANT & NEED ...But, All it took was a glimpse of her back in a dark evening ... a small trinklet of hers in his palm ... & the emotion which was like a volcano bubbling just below the surface of his heart ... came gushing out ... but he fought .. like a drowning man clings to a meagre lifeline he clung to MOVED ON ... a litany he kept repeating to himself ... to her ... so that he could believe in it ... he fought himself .. he fought her ... he fought destiny ... but he failed ... he failed to the small word he had written on a sheet of paper a decade ago ... LOVE ...Oh Red...what a beauty you have penned above...this is verse in prose...I remember my own feeling when I watched that scene you desribed above...I have said this in one of my posts earlier.. Shravan u had me at "Kaun Sumo"...I had no idea about this serial except the promos which frankly did not look promising to me...(a lesson learnt not to judge a book by its cover) and my first episode was the party one...and the first scene that has my attention really is when Shrav has a convo with Pushkar.,.where Pushkar gives up on a counterpoint and Shrav launches into a friendly bro advice mode talking of Perspectives and viewpoints and how the process of convincing the other of our viewpoint and being convinced is a process of life...I was drawn in...and the next few scenes had his "Kaun Sumo" and I was hooked...and then him watching her go away without meeting him in the next epi and I told myself we have a winner on hand..😊Your lines above just made all that feeling come alive for me again on why I chose to watch this serial...👏👏Then one day tired of fighting this huge tsunami of emotions he gave in ... he saw her trust .. he saw her belief .. he saw her absolute faith in him ... & he crumbled ...the mask lay on the middle of the road abandoned ... like he had obliterated the feelings of love from his mind & heart ..this time he obliterated the fear ... the fear of indifference from his mind ... he let go of MOVED ON .. & peeped out ... with the letter in his hand ... and a rose in his palm .. he carried the feelings of pure innocent unfettered unadulterated INNOCENT love .. he came to her as a teenager ... obliterating the 10 years between them ...he was back to the boy wearing his heart on his sleeve ... wanting to ask a very simple question ... IS THIS LOVE??????But there was a lesson waiting for him ... one could not turn back time ... he could not go back & rewind ... because the past was not ready to be faced ... the past was not ready to be laid to rest .. the past carried the weight of destroying love ... the past had the power to SEPARATE ... & it did that ... it broke the fragile hope ... it devastated the sliver of emotion ... it killed the innocent rose ...Once again he stood alone on the middle of the road .. while she looked on ... once again he turned the car around & drove away ... the letter forgotten between pages of a long forgotten book ... a book of crosswords ... ironic .. a jumble of letters which one had to bring together to form a word ... just like his life .. it was a jumble of emotions which the mind had squandered & the heart would need to put them in an order & make the one word stand ... LOVE ...Then destiny played a sleight of hand ...& his love lay on the road .. a road on which he had left her abandoned ...he ran back to her ... to claim her .. to shelter her .. to hold her ...only to see.her face bore the colour of his innocent love ... rose ... his heart tore out of his chest just like the paper on which he had once written that letter tore from the book ... just like the letter which never met its destiny ... his love lay there bleeding ... far far away from destiny ...He nurtured his love back to health ... obliterating every voice which shouted him to abandon ... he fought her .. he fought him .. he fought nature .. he fought destiny ... he changed the course of life ... he changed the course of nature .. he changed ... He had able help ... he had able guidance ... he had someone holding his hand guiding him through this arduous journey ... DESTINY ... the destiny of that letter .. which was not yet fulfilled ...But even as he nurtured his love ... he held on to a sliver of his mask ... his safe place ... MOVED ON ... this time he did move on .. he left her once again .. but this time in a safe cocoon ... thinking this was destiny ... this was fate ... his destiny was to worship from afar ... cause his love his heart was making him choose ... the battle he waged with her sickness .. was also a battle he waged internally ... a battle of choice ... the choice only showed a dark tunnel ... one which travelling alone seemed nigh impossible ... so he walked away ... he walked towards the periphery .. peeping in .. happy to be able to glimpse his love occasionally ... he thought that was the fate of his LOVE ... always to be hidden between pages of jumbled letters ... never to be deciphered.Then out of the darkness a voice called out to him ... amidst a downpour of jumbled thots came out one word CARE ... she cared ... it was the meagre lifeline his heart wanted to grab & come on board ...He saw her sitting there ... a sweet smile gracing her face ... honesty shining out of her eyes ... words of a deep emotion pouring out of her mouth ... & destiny once again threw a lifeline... she threw a rope at him ... his love asked him not to choose but to accept ... accept that as he would do all in his power to nurture the love ... she would do all in her power to nurture him ... the heart which was gasping for that one drop of emotion .. was swamped wit the storm it was dealt wit ... out of the storm came the understanding ... came the courage .. came the belief .. came the certainness .. came the LOVE ...He walked in the dead of night in the path of darkness to the one who helped frame his destiny ... he sat on the feet of the one who made him ...he thanked him for all that it had given him ... and said he would always nurture it & let it flourish ... but for him to flourish ... he needed the manna of LOVE ... He needed to embrace love ... he needed to fulfil his DESTINY ... destiny which was LOVE ... a destiny which was SUMAN TEWARI ... the woman he loved since when he was but a boy...Each of your para above is a masterpiece in how you relate and understand the story of a character...Shravan in this case. If someone watches the serial and reads the para after the various tracks it describes...they would not have a single doubt about the character Shravan through this journey. The etching of the character by the writer, the direction of the various tracks and last but not the least the portrayal of this character by the actor has all been top-notch!!I faltered at one stage in reading the character Shravan and Your post and the keyword obliteration helped me...to get me on track on reading a most interesting male character on Indian tele...In a story which is a Female lead centric on content, to be able to etch out such a character for a male protagonist is great and kudos to the writer for this sublime writing. I have watched this story from his eyes so far and wait for the other half to unfold...This forum had abounded with questions on Shravan's behaviour from time to time but despite the lack of any real pointers (read monologues...which I really hate in any case😆) the scenes have been always self-explanatory if you have faith in one aspect of the story...that it is a love story...of two individuals who have sought their other half in each other..I had written once...that Shravan never visited PCT but the narrative has shown why it was never necessary for him to visit the place to know what it has meant for Sumo...Red...in one of our private conversations you had beautifully explained what Shravan did for Sumo in the post accident track while nursing her back to health was a repetition of the Khosla 6 crore episode...of Shravan through his actions making right a wrong, giving her something more precious than land...land which was anyways on a weak ground..Iraade and nateeje all over again...I wish you had done a wineshot on that day too..but today with this piece you penned a beautiful journey of Shravan upto his highest point, his outpouring of his emotion in front of the man who has stood by him through thick and thin.As J said, he was not going to walk over one relation to make another important one..While I have said this to you all before, I write it again for others to read. Honestly did not expect that Shravan would go and tell his dad about his love but then again...Shrav is just like that...so I am not at all surprised that he did. come to think of it..he hasn't ever wilfully ever chosen Sumo over his father...his subconscious has tho... He told the one guy he has shared his whole life with. He has lain a lot of value to that..the loyalty that he values over all else..When Sumo tells him, irrespective of how I may be or have been...do you conceive that I would ever have anything other than your best interests at heart...it struck a deep cord within him...something akin to the terrace moment all over again...his moment of truth that they have a bond unerasable by time, circumstances...I fell for Shravan the character on the first day I saw him engaging with Pushkar on viewpoints day.even tho I knew so little about the story and the character..Today that scene came almost full circle. I have seen that scene play out the journey of Shravan the character.on several occasions..today again his convo with his dad was a milestone of that when he told his father that perhaps Sumo had a certain opinion of Nirmala which we may not share but doesn't mean that she is out to destroy my happiness. This ability to reason out has stood out in the mature adult Shravan despite his insecurities.His entreaty to his father was very moving...like saying I know why you can't trust Sumo but my heart can't listen to that reason anymore. He has hidden that love to an extent that it cannot remain hidden anymore. He almost said that he wished to say it irrespective of what Sumo's feelings were...I always wanted this progression for Shravan's character...to be able to love becos there is no other way in love, to own up despite the fear in your heart..for Love is not a zero sum game...Today I saw that in Shravan...so irrespective of where it goes from here...this was a lovely high point in the journey.This is a a humble ode to the brilliance of the writer ... & a dedication to them ... take a bow guys .. But i would be remiss in not mentioning the one who took this tale & brought it to life .. the male lead .. Shravan Malhotra .. the war of heart & mind he mouthed many episodes back .. he showed it to us clearly thru is very expressive eyes ... take a bow Boy ...well Said Red...and well written...Your wineshots and our convos have been a beautiful aspect of this journey, not to forget my other friends on this journey...esp Indrani who leaves you gobsmacked with her interpretations...(loved your ref to the rain and new beginnings...that scene was absolutely surreal and your description even more so😊) and J...whose pithy observations leave you wondering why did I waste all those words to say what has been said in such few and such beautiful words..in a more impactful way 😆The appreciation that you have all received in this thread is a testimony to your wonderful skills. Glad to have found you all and more glad that i could join in

-------Well, yesterday's ambience, atmosphere was another key persona to this love drama being enacted by these characters. Rain, the sign of romance, of spring, of a time when the earth is reborn again and life is rejuvenated to its pristine glory was beautifully enacted in the first scene with Sumo and Shravan. Over a cup of coffee.. she told of her initial misgivings and her final realization that Shravan cant mete out a wrong to her. In saying so, she opened up her own case that if he cant do a wrong to her ..why does he believe she can do so? Sumo's dialogues could be far more understood in the reactions which were being etched on Shravan... his feelings of helplessness, sense of wonder and finally, bright smile figured forth in a quiet question so is the coffee session and your talk over? I found that beautiful... he letting himself to be the bystander (and yet wanting more😉) and follow Sumo's narrative... letting her pay the bill. Not because he couldn't do so but today was her day to make it count, her honesty shone through as light...And he soaked in her honesty and her love. And, when she said that she would wait for the day when he tells his narrative over a cup of coffee ...that was sublime. ❤️Love is not a matter of upmanship as to who controls the narrative but is a text which offers multifarious possibilities, a fact which was conveniently forgotten by Ram and also Niru. Ram accepted her money till the time he was not earning... there was question of a choice... but, the day his coffers started filling... he asked his wife to back off. And the chance of an option being postulated as itself erased. Here, Shravan and Sumo learns to value each other's narrative...because... love like rain washes off ill-feelings and clears misunderstandings. Rain leads to rebirth after waste and destruction... And options are offered... friendship or rishta both offered... the choices plenty.. ..Her trust, her love, her feelings as omnipresent but never forced... like his love, which has transcended time and difficult circumstances...not imposed...but, offered as a possibility...One can draw again.. eyes closed, with entwined hands
Ambience in love...Hmmm...Indrani...even as I soaked in the scene...this wonderful description of the ambience eluded me...👏 When we watch a love story unfold...and by that I mean a true love story (not driven by TRP concerns 😉) it is important to look for all these nuances..these nuances shout romance in its purest form...If we miss these...we will be left wondering where did the romance go? As I watched the two lovers basking in the first rains of the season...the realisation came about on the love to be found in the simple moments of life.
As much as the lead characters soaked in the beauty and delight of the downpour... and enjoyed the scene without any dialogues ... eagerly waiting to create new patterns in their lives... Shravan decided to reveal the truth to his father. That the scene was immensely powerful is an understatement... what it did was bring out a quality as to what is so special about SM, the man Sumo loves😃
The man who had once stated as a gawky, scrawny teenager... Is this love? A question which could be attributed to his age, lack of knowledge and also to his lack of belief in himself... went on to express his love to his father...As if it could not be restrained or locked up any further. If a Jairaaj was required to let him pose the question "Why Is It Still There?" yesterday... it was WHY IT HAD TO BE THERE...❤️
His love... which he explained with a quiver, evocative of a raging storm outside, crashed against the exteriors of his personality. The die was cast and the mask was peeled off and he sitting humbly before his father... confessed that he has lost a battle to his heart... and that too a long time back. The honesty, the sincerity of this scene just blew me away... he knew his love will not abandon him.. so much so, that he was willing to negate the presence of Nirmala Ahuja as a mere opinion. 😳I had mentioned few days back that this show is unique in presenting many truths, perspectives where all have a say and do matter in their little ways. One can go back to Shravan and Pushkar's scene during the Chachi -London drama. Pushkar upheld one essential truth while Shravan was willing to pay cognizance to several possibilities... as the opposite of Truth is not often the untruth...
Yet, as always there is a Truth we all aspire, we all reach out to, we potentially want to recreate in our world. And Shravan in exercising his choice to uphold truth as represented by Sumo and Ram.. still ...caught hold of an essential, Absolute Truth... Love.🤗
Sweetheart...I can't agree more or say this any better...It is the matter of perspectives presented that pulled me to the show...(Yes having good looking leads does not hurt tho😆😆) and these perspectives have been on display with every character...be it a Shravan or a Sumo, or mami, or Ram or Pushkar or even Preeti...Even Mausi's quiet assertation to mami that Sumo will operate from home paying the rent due...😉
@bold...Absolute truth and clear as light...as you have described love later here...In giving into a perspective of why Sumo can never think ill of me, Shravan showed the maturity to deal with the perceptions. The quick response from Shravan to Ram..that she could have an opinion giving glimpse to a man who makes his own decisions even while respecting that others can have a perspective different from his. The subtext of that convo on Nirmala Ahuja was Shravan has not changed his position on her but he is willing to accept that Sumo may have a different position on it and just by having that she has not jeopardised his happiness...The essential point being intention that he makes out in both positions. Both Ram and Sumo have his best interest at heart.
Love, as Sumo explained in her ramble, means to care, to cherish every moment, to luxuriate in the presence of the other... love which means the other shall not fail and in so doing.. he/she will not fail. It was as if Shravan Malhotra was again standing on the ledge with Sumo tightly held in his arms... Love meant hope which flutters and continues to do so, Love meant belief in the other which invariably spelled as a belief in oneself, Love meant trust where even before the question is posed.. the answer is known merely over a cup of coffee, Love meant trust ...to follow the tight course...
Love "tis true as light"...that this scene expressed... one which had the capability to not to negate or erase out previous relationship as signifying them as lesser truth or a lie. But, love as light, as a truth leads to the drawing of a new pattern (as of now on the window sill). But, a pattern which is not entirely new but, one which makes both the past and the present come together...make the mind and the heart to sync together. Love which like the rain soothes, comforts and brings forth new saplings was mirrored in both Shravan and Sumo. Both had healed and stood coloured in golden hues... luminiscient...
Ram had said to Chachi, his son will not renege on his promise... he didn't...and neither did Sumo...
He might have been sitting at his father's feet... yet he stood tall. 🤗Chachi thought her game would lead to SS coming together and Ram offended... little did she knew that where there is Love, there is light and one which pierces the darkness...it illuminates. Likewise, Shravan punctured the darkness of Ram and Chachi...to posit a beauty of light ... of a truth that creates new configurations amidst the certainties of old. Rains for few people is also, however, the season when the dust and the grime bother like hell, when floods could torment, when the raging thunderstorms lead to more darkness.. one which was pictured in the conundrum of a la Ram and Chachi shall face its potency today...😆😉
Poetic Indrani...can't really add anything to what you wrote above...👏👏
Henry David Thoreau wrote:
A man may love the truth and practise it,
Beauty he may admire,
And goodness not omit,
As much as may befit
To reverence.
But only when these three together meet,As they always incline,
And make one soul the seat,
And favorite retreat,
Of loveliness;
When under kindred shape, like loves and hates
And a kindred nature,
Proclaim us to be mates,
Exposed to equal fates
Eternally;
. . .
In such case only doth man fully prove
Fully as man can do,
What power there is in Love
His inmost soul to move
Resistlessly.
Today all beauty, goodness and truth in the form of light shone in the persona of Shravan Malhotra, who emerged as the man...the queen bee of the school once fell in love with and continues to do so
Red... your post was a masterpiece🤗
So also, of someone called J 😃😉
Rekha was poetic...❤️
