Why is the Human Rights group for the disabled angry with Om Shanti Om?

AS THE world observed the United Nations day for the Disabled on December 3, a human rights group for the disabled based in Mumbai came out and demanded an unconditional apology from Shahrukh khan and Farah Khan for some insensitive scenes in the movie Om Shanti Om, which have hurt the sentiments of disabled people.

It seems that after veteran actor Manoj Kumar had demanded an apology from the makers of Om Shanti Om for making fun of the legendary actor and also playing with the sentiments of his fans, the movie has run into deeper trouble as the human rights group for the disabled has shown their displeasure over the a particular scene.

The scene in contention is from the second half of the movie where the protagonist Om Kapoor is depicting the role of a physically handicapped character. The actor in the film questions how he can do a Dard-E-Disco without having any limbs. And then goes on to perform the song with a bare chest, flashing his six-pack abs as a part of a dream sequence. The scene wherein he mocks the physically handicapped people has not gone too well with this human rights group. In a letter addressed to Shahrukh Khan - the lead actor and producer of the film and the director Farah Khan, the group has demanded an unconditional apology and also that the scene in contention be deleted from the movie.

The movie Om Shanti Om, one of the biggest grosser of the year at the box office had opened to packed theatres even as Saawariya was released on the same day. The Shahrukh khan - Deepika starrer has been both critically acclaimed and commercially successful. A spoof on the Bollywood industry itself, the film had earlier earned the ire of Manoj Kumar for showing scenes that ridiculed him. But after a visit and a personal apology from Shahrukh, Farah and Gauri Khan, all seems to be well with Manoj Kumar. But this recent controversy might not be so easy to sort out.

what i dont get is this films been out weeks why now..i didnt think it was that offensive in context of the whole scene

I THINK the first word farah's kids will say is "sorrY" cause that is all they heard in the last trimester. 😆 😆 😆 or rather they will ask farah to apologize to them for running around too much when she was pregnant 😆 😆 😆

I think the point is that it may have offended handicapped people and may seemed to have made a mockery out of their position.

But a movie is a movie. Although I do think that they should have consulted Manoj Kumar before making a mockery out of him.
