Its rare to see this obese a person in India, quite common here in US.

I don't condone fat shaming but the fad of "loving your body no matter what your size is" on social media is a sham. Its just plain unhealthy.

its not a sham. see the thing is that say if a person is obese, (and let's say it is not bec of medical reasons but bad habits .. let's say) ... even if it supremely unhealthy , how is it the business of anyone else? is the person harming your life ? is the person doing anything wrong to you? does that justify the hate that people get for being fat?

there are worse things ppl can be, there are worse unhealthy habits (say drugs) ... but fat gets attention bec it is visible.

the loving your body movement is not to enable someone to put on weight. it helps ppl to come to terms the cruelty ppl face for being fat. otherwise most won't be able to get out of home or have friends or a career.

if it was possible to shame ppl into losing weight, no one would ever be overweight. given how much hate ppl get sometimes outright sometimes in the guise of health advise.

I am not saying that obese ppl should be shamed. I am saying that lying and sugar coating by ppl with regards to obesity is just going to increase the problem. Many ppl casually say "oh honey you aren't fat, you are just curvy" even though they are morbidly obese. Ppl have no qualms in ridiculing skinny person by asking them to eat more but the minute an obese person is asked to lose weight ,it becomes an issue.

As a society, importance should be given in achieving a healthy body and weight (unless they have a medical condition). Being morbidly obese is as dangerous as having eating disorders,so when we can condemn EOs, why should we sugar coat and tiptoe around obesity.

@Bold red: Neither is an Anorexic person doing anything to you.But still we get them treated. No?So I guess if you are friends/family of a person dealing with EOs, or who is obese, its should be fine to talk to them about their health, and help them deal with it rather than faking it by saying its ok to love oneself even if it means that they are on an unhealthy path.

Maybe he suffers from a medical condition like thyroid which is making him rapidly gain weight? Although he may not be happy with how he looks it is possible that this is something beyond his control.
