Without any suffixes attached to the name...just Omkara. An individual. A being. Someone desperately trying to run away and yet being rooted. His very own name is a burden to him. Unlike his brother Shivaay who wears that name as a medal of honor. Unlike his brother Rudra who has gotten used to living the luxurious life which the name carries with itself. Omkara is just...Omkara.
"Naam aur khaandaan mere liye matter nahin karta."
Because he knows the more weight the name holds in the society, the darker the reality behind it. And Omkara has been bitten by the poison of that name. I used to wonder...how did Om manage to be so successful on his own? But it's only today that it was revealed that he has been down to the deepest of pits before reaching the glorious height he is at now.
A recovered addict. He has taken the use of the most harmful things just to get escape from the clutches of reality he has to live with everyday. Someone so sensitive and idealistic like him...how much hell must've he endured all his life? And then to know that he owes his new life to Shivaay...it just puts their relationship in a whole new light. It's not just familial life binding these two, he literally owes his life to Shivaay.
"Main race mein bhagunga tou sirf apne Bhai ko jitane ke liye."
They aren't just empty words. He means them all. Of course we knew that. But to know the reason behind it...
And maybe, just maybe, his love for art stemmed from when he was building his new life. Or maybe it was always there but that rehab became that place where it became more than just a hobby and turned into a reason for living. And then he used it all to make an identity out of himself.
Think about it. How could Omkara be allowed to so openly disown the names attached to his' and go out and make a mark for himself so completely distant from what his family's image is? It's because that was his way of survival. The Oberoi household is a twisted place. It takes a certain mindset to survive there. Omkara wasn't born with that mindset that's why he broke. But when he got his life back, he molded himself to be as separate as he could from his family.
But the very same family which haunts him..there lies his happiness as well. His brothers. These three brothers are so differently wired from each other and yet, the dependence they have upon each other is astounding. When the youngest screws up, the elders step in and save his skin. When the middle one virtually destroyed his life, it was the eldest who shook senses in him. And the eldest..he faces the big, bad, fake world out there all on his own and only finds genuine love and peace with his siblings.
Omkara can try and block away the family's issues from his head but the very fact that he's always physically present there when all the poison is being spewed..that matters. Like it was shown today, Omkara snaps. He breaks. He has done so before. He very well so could do it again. Escape is what he needs and he tries to escape to the very best of his ability. Despite being a part of the Oberois, this man is a very separate person. Out of all the people..he is the one who is most in touch with his individuality. There's so much lying underneath his exterior that makes him the most fascinating character out of everything the show has offered. The more we get to know about him, the fascination increases. And I can't wait to know every single thing about this man.
