Pregnancy requires you to take a break.. Actually not require but it is something that one feels like doing following having a baby.. the baby is dependent on you and you need to take care of the baby at all times. obviously working simultaneously is not an ideal situation which is why mothers tend to take breaks.. this break might turn detrimental for you in some cases, not so much in others.. Like Kajol does not have dearth of options.. She chooses to work less because she prefers to be a mother first.. So I think Pregnancy affects your career when your priority changes

Its true that marriage does affect the actresses career, she becomes less desirable to the male audience. After kids lot of things change. Most importantly marriage and child changes the type of roles the actress can do. It did affect Aish but to a lesser extent Kajol too. They dont get the masses heroine roles which are most abundant. The actors stop working with them, producers and directors stop casting them. Suddenly from top rung they fall down to middle or lower rung. At the end of the day its their call and its better to take it at the right time.

Media said Kareena told producer to complete the shooting by Aug/Sept so that the baby bump isnt much visible.

Kareena made the right decision to marry Saif, who is at a stage in life where he would want to be settled down peacefully and Kareena gets the security and luxurious life. As such she is 35/36 so having a baby is fine.

I think what worked in Kajols favor was keeping her kids away from the limelight. It was very hard to think of her as a mother when she rarely spoke about them or showed them off. She was always more Ajays wife than the mother of the kids, in terms of media representation.

It's such an unfair world. Married and preggers women get raw deal. It's more hypocritical when Male stars have 18+ yrs kids and they are still " youth icons"

Would like to add that marriage didn't affect Kateena's career at all. She may begin a new trend by becoming first mother who has good career as well.
Ash tried hardest but failed post pregnancy.
