didnt understand .. if there relaly were a haunting ghost or not.. plzz clear my doubt.-. i knwo ti was Vidya Balan who were there but how coem.. when the pandit and etc.. were there and the door oen by it self and they sees soemone why dint they se its their daugtehr in law.

There was no ghost. There was an incident years ago where the raja(Shiney's ancestor) beheads a poet. The poet was in love with the courtesan Raja wanted to marry. People say the courtesan's curse was on the family. Some unnatural deaths spread rumors about the mahal being haunted.

Vidya grew up with ghost stories where the good always wins over the evil. She developed schizophrenia over the years. When she moved in the Mahal with Shiney, she heard story. She could not digest it. She thinks herself as Manjulika and takes an oath for justice.

She opened third floor and the key maker died. Hurriedly Shiney's family closed it, but fear and shadows in the dark made them belief they saw Manjulika.

Akshay sees Vidya's excitement and anger whenever they bring up Manjulika's story. She can kill Shiney any time caz she thinks Shiney is the king. She is manjulika and Shiney's brother in law is the poet. Akshay plans a fake puja and Vidya is cured.

A person can act normal once and then act like another person if something triggers that personality. When she was in her Manjulika personality, she saw as you said Shiney as the evil king and the brother-in-law as her lover. So whenever she was in her Manjulika personality, usually at night, people in the household thought that Manjulika was back again, but coincedentially some incidents would occur where the members of the household feel a ghostly presence.

If you see the beginning of the movie...Paresh Rawal goes in to talk to the constructor workers and when he goes in his arm touches a chair. When he sees that on his way out he thinks it was a ghost.

Similar thing may have happened with the girl. She was little and maybe the story, tiredness from playing and some weird co incidence shocked her.
