Alia Bhatt has had two releases this year in Kapoor & Sons and now udta Punjab. Both movies have done well and her acting has been appreciated by every critic and fan.

I feel she will be a front ranker to collect all the major awards for 2016 ..even the National Award.

What do you all feel ?

Her role in K&S was meh tbh.

But Udta Punjab, she was ace. Awesome.

Till now, yup she did great. While Sonam in Neerja was good, but it was like Sonam's best.

Radhika Apte in Phobia was brilliant too, but movie flopped and no one will sadly care about it.

So till now, it is Alia. But who knows Sonakshi with Akira/that another movie or Vidya with kahani two might be back with bang.

National award? Not sure as their are many regional movies we have not seen
for example Rinku Rajguru have an outstanding performance in Sairat.

You are right of course . May be I am jumping the gun midway through the year. must wait for the films you mention ...though I feel alia has performed better than sonam in Neerja.

For the National award regional cinema makes great contribution...no doubt about that.

Vidya at her worst will be far better than alia/sonam so lets wait for kahani2 nd then thr is sonakshi who knws she can once again surprise us jst like lootera... But honestly i want my katty to win all the awards but as every1 knw this is nxt to impossible :-(

The way things are movies apart from Vidya there is no other competitor for her this year..

Alia and Sonam will collectively win TRP trophies. Multiple categories to please everyone. 😉 Sonam is the popular choice. Case closed!

The question is can any of them bag a NA?

Difficult to say until a regional or Vidya performance steal the show.

there is kangana too with Rangoon.

as for vidya, absolutely love , BUT, i am not going to take anything from alia, she aced all in UP.

never expected, but absolute TOP!

i have a feeling she is even gonna run over viday mann...the speed this girl is running. and i am talking about acting, not some first place trophy.

ppl always say, oh the olden days actresses were gem , blah blah...i gotta give it to some of todays actors...they are freaking mindblowing in acting department. and YES, they do match with yesterdays actors.

With Kangu/Deepu/Priyanku taking a chutti this year, it looked liked it was an open playing field for the others.

Sonam was the front-runner with Neerja receiving unanimous praise. This will be the first time she has deserved her Best Actress nomination though.

But Alia has taken over. She was outstanding. Alia could have done Neerja very well. I cannot imagine Sonam doing Udta Punjab (not saying that's how it should be worked out, but it's an observation).

Sonam was second to Shabana in Neerja, whereas Alia stole the show over the likes of much established stars Shahid/Kareena.

Alloo still has Gauri Shinde's film. Which will add to the momentum. Sonakshi has lost a lot of steam. She needs a few performances to get back into contention, one Akira won't do it alone.

Vidya too, she's lost a lot of momentum. Kahaani 2 doesn't have the suspense/wow factor. Hard to see it having the same impact.

Anushka is still right up there, but she needs a strong lead role - will Ae Dil Hai Mushkil be that for her?
