The Left Right Left (SAB TV) hunk Gaurav Chopra unveils his fitness mantra
Fitness for me: Is not just going to the gym and having a flat stomach; fitness is about being healthy physically with a healthy state of mind. Fitness is a way of life. It's not a hobby for me but part of who I am. I first wore a size 30 pair of jeans 15 years ago and today I am 30 years old and still wear the same size.
My fitness regime: I manage to hit the gym only three-four times a week because of the hectic schedules. I carry some weights with me to the shoot and work out whenever I get time. I also like to play music and dance. It works for me not just because it burns the fat but also because I enjoy doing it. It gives you a kick that a boring exercise routine may not give.
My diet: I have five meals a day. I have fruits and a dairy product along with something filling for breakfast. I have a bowl full of sprouts or salad between breakfast and lunch. My lunch is quite normal. But I forget dieting when I see Indian sweets, cakes, pastries and muffins. I do have a sweet tooth but I have controlled it completely.
The Bollywood body I envy the most: I don't think anyone has a perfect kind of physique. I like the way Rahul Bose maintains himself. He is not a tall or a broad person. He has made sure that his muscle size is proportionate to his height, otherwise he would look stumpy.
The body that I would like to have: When I was a kid I wanted to be Sylvester Stallone.
The Bollywood/TV actress with the fittest body: Is there any? Let's change that to Bollywood actress with the sexiest body. I think Bipasha (Basu) looks really sexy, although she doesn't look that fit to me. Narayani (Shastri) has lost a lot of weight. She better give credit to me because I was the one to introduce her to a gym (laughs) but she has followed it quite religiously.
The body part I love training: My shoulders.
The body part I hate training: My abs.
My best body feature: My shoulders.
My worst body feature: My wrists. I damaged my wrists and that's because of being silly with workouts at a young age… now I wear wristbands when I workout.
Who motivated me to exercise: In school my idol was Sylvester Stallone, who looked sexy.
The best compliment I've got for my body: Before I started off with television I had come to Bombay and was doing a lot of fashion. I was dancing and this girl said: "Guys who dance this well and use their body this well are great in bed as well." I did not say anything for about 55 seconds. I just didn't know what to say.
The gym I workout in: The People's, which is open till 2.30 at night, which is brilliant. It is in Malad, where I stay. Your gym should be very conveniently located because otherwise you will not go after a tiring day.
The relationship between fitness and good looks: I feel if you are fit you look good, so I would say fitness = health = looking good.
When I don't workout I feel: Guilty.
Advice for aspiring fitness freaks: Follow a proper diet. The main secret is — don't follow instructions, don't follow a trainer's advice blindly, don't follow any manuals, discover your body.
