IKRS Tuesday 21stJune 2016 ep 284 My Take~ Emotional crutch..
Humans are fallible .. that is their composition they are far from perfect. Yet they also possess certain qualities, of perseverance ,fortitude , and iron will, that enable them to raise them beyond them selves . many normal humans go through coping with bereavement , face and figh life threatening illness , go through divorce or separation. How they cope depends on individual choice. Many people look to faith as a support that help them to overcome trauma. Others seek medical intervention, family or friends support. But there is no two ways about it that they need some form of emotional support or crutch to face a painful situation. Looking at the episode we can see Dhani still struggles to fight off the debris of her and Vidha coming face to face with Viplav. Questions like how long will Dhani keep her daughter away from her father? raise moral issues. Will Viplav's apparent support of Dhani at the station melt her heart into perhaps confirming him as Vidha s father?
The rage of an insecure mother.. The fact that he is better off than her in every way, financially secure ,has a wife and child and has moved on.. Are poignant feelings she has. Plus the fact that she now has the fear of Viplav demanding his right as the father. These sentiments cloud Dhani's judgement. She tends to forget it was her who made the informed choice to move out of his life. Her sojourn from Banaras to Mumbai. Every move Viplav makes , like gifting toys to the child Dhani now sees as some conniving plot to take her child from her. Dhani sees Vidha as the only reason for her survival . She needs support , but not without Dulari's harsh words that speak the truth! The girl craves for her demon uncle! and Dhani denies both father and daughter the relationship that exists between the two. Dulari sorts Dhani out! that despite knowing Viplav so well she misunderstands him grossly! The reason for his pampering the child with gifts is because he loves her.. and not to take her away! Dulari reiterates the last thing that Viplav wants is to let his daughter grow up feeling deprived.. But life is not about fulfilling wants, its fine for the rich and the well to do but not so, for the ones who have to makes choices between wants and needs! Parsiya plays devil's advocate! Viplav has a wife and a child ,then why does he come moping for Vidha and cause trouble for Dhani? Dulari rightfully serves a reminder , the facts do not alter anything! Vidha is Viplav's daughter and he has every right over her! This which makes Dhani more insecure she will not give her daughter up ! To me this is a common reaction from a mother under duress. The hidden fact that fans Dhani's emotions is that she has a residue of Ishq still buried in the inner recesses of her heart. Of being a woman cheated by her a husband who loves her even now! makes all too hot for her to handle!
The boys in blue turn up at Dhani's home to round up Dhani and Parsiya for questioning at the station in connection with Atharva s disappearance! No surprise the charges are pressed by Mr.and Mrs .tirpathai.. Parsiya is no gent and the feds can see it, he's known as a lay about throwing his weight around inthe area. But he's man enough to say Dhani wouldn't be going to the station for questioning only him! but Dhani being a good soul genuinely at first can't see the point but then decides to go to help in search of missing boy in blue. Vidha is clearly concerned about the boy going missing.. and adds in her sweet manner ,he may be naughty but he does share his toys with her..
At the station routine systems put in place in case of the kidnapping , ransom are explained to Viplav and his wife Kamini and they are asked to leave after that. Parsiya and Dhani are brought in and parisya has a gibe at Viplav..he may be a low life but not so low to kidnap his child! this gives Viplav an opportunity to verbally show support for both parsiya and Dhani. In fact this whole scene of Dhani and Parsiya questioned at the station , to me is a blessing in disguise .. gives Dhani and Viplav a chance to slowly uncover the complicated layers of their messed up once happy married life!they may not be able to sort it rightaway .but at least they now skirt about their past..their marriage. Slowly and gradually Kamini is being exposed very subtly before Viplav's eyes. Who knows it can be seen what manner of a mother she is, one who puts her own child at risk physically and emotionally, getting him kidnapped? The complete station experience is a centre stage for bringing about Viplav and Dhani together under however warped the situation may appear.Viplav is clearly concerned about how much pressure is applied upon both Dhani and Parsiya.. It's like he can feel someone's nasty hand in this..right from the start when the officer orders the two suspects to be taken to the interrogation cell.. Viplav indicates his preference he wants it done before them.. but then realizes being a lawyer that police has routines to follow onCe first information report is filed. Again Viplav lurks about to ensure the two are questioned appropriately and when questions about Dhani's past are churned up ..along side her present, Viplav intervenes objectively .. and tells it as it was after the bomb in the ashram! What is tragic though is to note the pathos in Viplav objective statements like..Dhani moving to Mumbai , and lived with Parsiya...this is a cry, a question from him to Dhani.. are you married? is Parsiya your husband? In the interrogation room the final question that is raised is about Vidha's father's identity. Viplav craves for the answer that he is the father. Dhani continues to see this as pointless, disclosing him to be the father. However Parsiya whether to find a place in Dhani's heart, or to save her honour does verbally confirm Vidha being his daughter. In spite of all this Viplav and Dhani continue to share a relationship of unspoken pain. The interrogation scenario shows Kamini that Viplav still veers towards Dhani and he towards him. Kamini lurks in the shadows as expected from far.. whether we like it or not! evil does exist. But that does not mean that we give up on virtue. So the interrogation room may not give us answers but it shows a Viplav who still looks out for Dhani. To me he seems, even more preoccupied by Dhani. muses ,as the officer there points out there may be a connection between Atharva going missing and the ashram bomb..is there one person involved?#Out of the interrogation room, Kamini seems to have won by the back breaking gruelling experience she ensured Dhani and Parsiya are subjected to. But she sees Dhani seems to emerge out of it unscathed. Kamini's showdown before Dhani , of begging her to hand over her child and not hold Viplav marrying her against her, back fires on her face! Viplav again clearly supports Dhani and rejects Kamini's histrionics before him andDhani! Kamini finds it increasingly difficult to crack Viplav s and Dhani's oneness. Even though separated so to speak they seem united in sipirt. While she being Viplav's wife still stands spurned by him as the other woman ,the home wrecker! #Kamini has set this up in my opinion. She has clearly bribed the police officer ,primed him into ripping both Dhani and Parsiya in the cells. Her ultimate aim to me ,is to pin the kidnapping on Parsiya on the behest of Dhani of course. The plot thickens , the notion is keep Dhani away from Viplav.. how successful will she be? or is she in a way inadvertently bringing Viplav and Dhani together?..
Overall to me it is a positive episode , negative as it may seem but Viplav and Dhani yet again have the opportunity to be beside each other. Viplav once again shows Kamini what she loathes most! to see that he supports Dhani, believes in her inherent goodness , her integrity and above ll her virtue! Hamlet 53, 22.6.12
