After the lead character of Mihir, played by Amar Upadhyay was replaced by Ronit Roy, now it's time for Tulsi to be substituted. Gautami Kapoor will be replacing Smriti Irani and she seemed to be mighty pleased with the role she got hold of.
The favourite daughter-in-law of the small screen, Smriti Irani has finally decided to end her rendezvous with the serial. But obviously, the producer and director can not end the show just because their actor needs a break. So what do they do? Nothing out of the ordinary…at least not when compared to the trend followed by most of the serials. The character of Tulsi meets with an accident and she needs to undergo a plastic surgery. So convenient! The new face of Tulsi will be that of Gautami Kapoor.
Gautami says, "I'm quite happy as this is the biggest break of my career. Of course there is a lot of pressure as Smriti has been playing this character since the past seven years and it's a very long time. But I will manage."
So doesn't she mind playing a character double her age? She retorts, "For an actor, it's a challenge to accept any sort of role and I have no issues with applying whitener and playing the role of a grandmother."
There have been rumours that depending on the audience response, Gautami might have to make way for Smriti. However, the former is unaware of any such plans. She humbly says, "Smriti and Tulsi are synonymous with one another. So the day Smriti decides to make a comeback, I will step down."
Well, going by the way Smriti Irani's career graph is going, it's doubtful that she will make a comeback. Question is if she does, will Gautami remember to be as humble then?
