Drabble#1
"I am sorry!"
Pragya spoke those words with her palms held together making Tanu glow in celebration but she wasn't going to settle for this .She had another trick up her sleeve.
"Only on one condition will I accept this apology. You will have to accept my marriage to Abhi!"
She gloated as she spoke those words making Pragya squirm mentally in disgust. She wanted to slap Tanu and throw her out of their lives. Yet fate had its own way of making things work. Here she was in a helpless position virtually without a second option but to accept her condition, for Purab and Akash were at stake. How unfair was that!
With a sharp intake of breath she went ahead to do the most disgusting and difficult task of her life.
"Tanu, I will..."
Pragya's voice drowned as Purab lunged forward screaming "Never, you Filthy Bitch."Akash held Purab back strongly and Pragya tried to calm Purab down. Tanu flared up and slapped Purab across the face leaving everyone shocked.
"What the hell is going on here?"
Abhi screeched throwing everyone off the guard. Soon realization dawned that no one would be able to move out of the mess without Abhi knowing the truth. Abhi pulled Tanu roughly and pushed her to the centre of the room looking at her menacingly."How dare you slap, Purab?"He roared. No one could control his seething rage.
"Abhi,I was just trying to defend..."
"Defend what?"Abhi looked at her furiously.
"Purab was trying to misbehave with me."
"Rubbish! He would never do that to anyone let alone you."
"Leave and Never step into the Mehra Mansion."
"Abhi..."
"Leave I said. Rachna, take Akash to the room."Abhi spoke in a much calmer voice but with definite authority. Pragya stood stiff as a lamp post in a trance. She had a lot of things to take in for the day.
"Purab" Abhi gently called out to Purab placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Abhi,I .."
"You don't need to explain .Go and sleep now .We will talk in the morning."
Before Purab could protest, Abhi forced him to retire to bed. He didn't want to face a vulnerable Purab. The Purab who was and has been his support system throughout. Pragya stood awestruck with the way her Suniye had handled the things. Had she underestimated him? Was she wrong for not trusting him enough? She felt at a loss of words. What was she going to explain him and how? She felt overwhelmed with her thoughts and questions coming up in her mind.
He could see admiration, confusion, indecisiveness and a lot more in her eyes -all at once. They had to end this cat and mouse chase which was complicating matters and putting other family members through a lot of distress and difficulties. As much as he wanted to speak to her right now, he knew that they needed rest right now as tomorrow was going to be a long day. They had to save and muster up all the energy and courage for tomorrow. Without wasting any further moment, he lifted her and moved towards the room. Before Pragya could utter a word, he silenced her with simple but confident words.
"Not now Fuggy, save it for tomorrow. For now, just sleep peacefully."
She knew the darker days were going to end and it was the beginning of a new phase. For him, the darkness had vanished and a ray of hope of the name TOMORROW flickered brightly .
