Annu to judge Asian Idol

Malik heads to Jakarta where winners from several countries will participate

After three seasons of Indian Idol, Annu Malik heads to Jakarta to judge the Asian Idol. Next month, Idol winners from many Asian countries will compete against each other for the title.

The composer considers it a huge honour, "There will be judges from other countries and I will also get the oportunity to know different cultures." Apart from India; Philippines, Vietnam and Indonesia are scheduled to participate.

Annu says people keep quizzing him about the next season of Indian Idol wherever he goes. "I think I've made my mark as a judge on the show with my individual style. I've been criticised for being rude, but that's how I would like to judge a singer. I cannot be sweet to a not-so-good singer."

The composer adds he will take his caustic style to Asian Idol as well. "I won't change my style. It will be interesting to look out for the best voice among those who have won the titles in their countries. The show will be conducted in English but contestants will sing in their local dialects."

Sound of emotion

He points out, "Language is not a barrier to judge a singer. For me, the key is very important and the expressions. I will also be looking at the presentation, confidence and attitude."

It is believed that Abhijeet Sawant will be representing India at the contest. "I think Abhijeet would be a unanimous choice. I will be hearing all the singers. Who knows... maybe I will find a good singer for my next project."
