BM winning over the likes of Talvaar, Masaan, Piku, Dhrisham(yes it was a remake but still), Dum Laga Ke Haisha and especially Bajrangi Bhaijaan for the best popular film was weird.

Although technically I think Dhrisham was the best movie from A-lister last year(saw it thrice and felt damn damn f**k) and Titli was the best movie of 2015, but I choose Bajrangi Bhaijaan because it was just beautiful classical mainstream cinema which will be remembered for years to come. As neither of Dhrisham or Titli was nominated, BB was an ultimate feel good and family entertainer which everyone can enjoy without finding it too preachy or cringeworthy.

BM on the other hand was just meh. While it got overhyped as its competition was Dilwale which was just crap. So BM looked great in comparison to it, but if we look, last year there were many movies which were much better than BM.

What are your thoughts?

Bajrangi Bhaijaan was my favourite film and it certainly deserved all the awards over SLB and his melodrama
Badlapur was second best followed by Talvaar & Masaan (both were too unpopular for Best Film popular awards though)

I liked Dil Dhadkne Do more than Dhrishyam (I found it allright but it was just like an episode of Crime Patrol).

I dunno but Dhrisham for me was class, especially the acting everyone. Plus I find Shriya Saran so so gorgeous 😆. Agree Badlapur was so gruesome and hard hitting. Piku was another excellent movie, although it won critics award, so kind of balance, still miles ahead of BM. Talvaar was grea. DDD was meh, disappointed. You should have watched Titli though that movie is as hard hitting as anything, just pure brilliance.

Bm was good but definitely not the best... Bajrangi had all the qualities to be the best film of the year but i just dont bother about these awards anymore... They are biased anyways!

I too feel Bajrangi Bhaijaan deserved to win the award.

I don't understand what was so great about bajirao mastani.Actually because of the clash with Dilwale,BM benefitted a lot because people preferred to watch this movie rather than dilwale. But otherwise the movie would have definitely flopped if there was no clash. The direction and the story were bad.SLB didn't deserve the Best Director award too.

Bajrangi Bhaijaan is a better movie than Bajirao Mastani.Regarding other movies,we all know mostly commercial movies are awarded in most of the award shows.Drishyam was a good movie but it was not award worthy.

Have not seen BM but BB I thought could have been better. It was too melodramatic with Salman hamming his way right through the movie.

Piku was a lot better as was Masan .

But I believe in terms of grandeur BM was a true blue BW production with RS/PC/ DP giving fine performances.
