yes! please do that.. because I watched this drama online.. and couldn't find any BTS or OLVs.. Given the track and pace of this show they would have edited lots of Daejung and Imja scenes.. I would love to know if there were any...

There was a lot of CY and ES scenes that the director removed because he thought CY was a warrior and couldn't show romantic emotion that much. 🥱 I don't want to speak ill of the dead so I won't say anything more about his decision.

BTW I dunno if you guys are aware but other than LMH and the heroine who are big names, none of the crew or actors got paid for the show. That is why the doctor guy opted out and he was shown "killed" by the villains. The director thought the show would be a huge hit and so he used budget of 5-6 episodes in just one episode and then he got in a huge trouble. The crew and actors sued him and he unfortunately committed suicide after a year or so.

Script Tidbids collection ep 8-24

Spoiler:

episode 8, after CY saves ES from falling in the woods at GC's house, ES put her hands to her waist even though what aired showed CY holding her shoulders? Well in the script, he actually stops her from falling twice; the first is what we all saw; the second is when she struggles away, thinking its GC holding her, and she almost slips/falls again, which is when he grabs her by the waist.

Omitted Script Tidbits from EP9 through the explanation of the Poster who shares it...
Episode 9:
The scene where Choi Young out of the blue mentioned to Dae-man he can no longer remember Mae Hee's face.
According to the poster, netizens commented that how can daejang easily forget his 7 years first love (Did anyone in here thought that?)

However according to the script and dialogues, it was more comprehensive. Daejang treats Daeman like a child/family of his own, he still lament over MH and Joekwoldae's past, he has new realisation in regards to the young king's death and Eunsoo's future. The content of the script was rather complicated, but because PDnim thought confiding to a subordinate is not manly so it became what it was broadcast.

Episode 10: A monologue omitted in the conversation between ES and CY
The content of the monologue is about "If she relies on CY to return to the future, he will have to confront KC. ES doesn't want CY to get hurt or sacrifice himself because of her and she does not want to change history". The poster explains that ES was in a dilemma, she can't differentiate her feelings towards CY. She doesn't want CY to die because she thought that would change the history. However, she has forgotten that she has asked CY to return to the future with her in EP7 to treat the young king. ES wants to deny her feelings towards CY, so when it comes to "changing history", she makes her judgment with how she feels.

ES was confused. Her feelings towards CY has already surpassed "getting protected" and "being protected" at the time. When CY told her to shut up (she was going to blabber about saving first emperor of Josean and the future of CY), CY did not reciprocate her confused feelings, hence she lost control and had an emotional outbreak. PDnim has completely ignored what the script wanted to present to the audience i.e. "the stander-by sees more than he who plays", hence when this was broadcast the viewers thought ES was being selfish and unreasonable.

Episode 10: Eun Soo talking about Joseon Dynasty in front of Gongmin and Noguk
The omitted bit was when CY entered the room, they were supposed to engage in a show of "couple's argument" before he dragged her out. Everyone who was in the room saw through their ambiguous relationship, they even looked at each other and smile with understanding. There are also deleted scenes and dialogues by the Woodalchi that implied the ambiguos relationship between CY/ES.

During this early episodes, ES and CY were both in denial. So SJN wanted to rely on the third parties in the palace to describe their true feelings towards each other and demonstrate that they were both "saying what they do not mean" (not being honest with their hearts). However PD nim omitted the view from the third party and hence omitted it from the audience's point of viewing the imja's relationships.

Episode 10: Choi Young chasing after Eum Ja in the palace
Originally CY was supposed to chase and meet up with 2 female guards. However in the middle of the chase, CY senses EJ's exact location and he separates from the female guards. However when he nearly caught up to EJ, he bumped into that female spy and because of this, EJ got away. The script was supposed to show CY's extraordinary mind/intelligence, although he was hindered by the spy, at the same time that is how he became aware of her true identity.

episode 11: regarding the smile, the script doesn't describe how CY feels when he asked ES about her lack of smile; it just says that he asked her the question seriously. and ES felt it in her heart when he did. in terms of ending the promise, it says that CY initially feels frustrated, then hurt by ES's words.

episode 12: he pulled his hand away initially as a reflex, so it wasn't on purpose. CY isn't used to soft touches, so I guess it makes sense his initial response is to back away. when he brushes her hair back from her face, he did it without thinking, too. (he's learning...)

the general sense from the script of episode 12 is that CY is feeling awkward, trying to reconcile his growing feelings for ES with, i suppose, his own reserve and his lingering feelings of guilt for bringing her into this world. As to the dress twirling, no explanation to how he feels, just that he takes a quick peek before saying, "let's go inside". when he clears his throat during the bickering scene in front of the King, its because he forgot himself - he got pissed at ES for talking about the future and was about to get into with her when he took a look and saw GM, NG, and his Aunt staring at them.

The throat clearing is actually something Lee MinHo added to the mix; his own take on the character's reactions. bravo to him. the scene where he grabs ES's hand to get her to stop tattling on him was also NOT in the script - in the script he just kinda stood closely to her to get her to stop talking. i MUCH prefer what was actually aired. also, i loved the look on his face after ES smacked his shoulder in their "partner place," - the script says that he sighs - he's become used to getting hit.

when CY looks back at ES after she waves and says, "Come back," he smiles a bit and then kinda chokes it off. Well according to the script, CY recognizes that he is starting to feel something for ES but can't bring himself to show it because he feels guilty/like he owes a debt to her. those feelings prevent him from expressing himself. and also in episode 12, at the end, ES is actually waiting for CY at their meeting place (while she is practicing her ghetto sword play), and when she hears footsteps, she turns around with a welcoming smile on her face, excited to see CY - only to see the Evil Uncle there. smile fades.

as for the Suribang scene, all its says is that he laughs because he is amused at the bickering between the Manbo couple. at the end, his smile fades out as he enters into "warrior" mode to prep for the coming fight.

--------------

I liked this article because it talks about CY's "romantic points": 1) CY can't bring himself to throw out anything that ES gives him. Namely the aspirin bottle, the flower, and the bandage that ES used to wrap his hand after his fight with GC (which i totally didn't notice, but apparently he had placed in a corner of his room?). He treasures everything she gave him; 2) CY remembers everything that ES says. Namely, his remembrance of her not liking the smell of blood (from the night he slept on her shoulder) - which led to him trying to make sure he did not smell of blood after his fight with the assassins; 3) CY doesn't miss any of her actions/reactions. Namely, when he caught on to the fact that she was walking funny from the weight of the dagger he gave her and after he saw her reaction to seeing HwaSooIn, he confronted HSI and told her not to come near ES again.

----------------------------

knife practice in ep 13: according to the script, CY takes the sword lesson pretty seriously, and gets frustrated when ES is so bad at it. THe part where he teaches her by holding her from behind - at first it's ES who gets uncomfortable. CY picks up on ES's feelings and then he starts to feel uncomfortable. which is when he pulls away and a general state of awkwardness settles on the two of them. It says that CY goes into defensive mode and adopts the attitude he takes when he teaches his underlings. when she laughs, he starts to laugh without realizing it.

darkened room scene in ep 14: in the script it says that he was very nervous at seeing ES upclose with wet hair . it says that CY is distracted by her wet hair, dampened clothing, and showing nape of her neck. other than that, when the two of them meet eyes, both freeze but its CY who moves away first towards the door. that's it.

so when CY leans against the wall outside, his shoulders release their tension. when they start talking, both of their smiles vanish. and when CY starts tracing ES's shadow outline, he stops abruptly when she says "but when the day breaks, don't dreams fade away?". and when ES shifts her body, her shadow fades along w/her.

Ep 15 tidbits

did you know JangBin had to gesture towards CY's sword to pick it up before he left to go see DHG? Otherwise, CY was so frantic, he would've forgotten it. So he is completely surprised by himself. (I totally didn't pick up on that while watching).

During the beating up scene, DHG is actually quite scared of CY, but he swallows his fear because he poisoned ES, prepared to die. (bold...bold move, bad guy).

During the medicine scene, ES asks him to feed her medicine because she can't move her hands. She is hiding them under the blanket so CY can't see. And she is only able to show that she can't breathe properly after he leaves the room.

swordplay: it just says awkward. so i'm going with just really aware of physical proximity - which of course is tied into mutual attraction.

darkened room: it says that CY is distracted by her wet hair, dampened clothing, and showing nape of her neck. other than that, when the two of them meet eyes, both freeze but its CY who moves away first towards the door. that's it.

--------------------------

ES: This sort of talk is supposed to happen before you get drunk, (she is already slightly drunk), but I don't have a "that person". (? ??). Really.

JB: Drink slowly.

ES: Meeting men. Trying to like them. But always, my heart never opened to them.

[CY is at the front door to the pharmacy and can hear something from within]

ES: My heart goes closer, then stops. and stops again. And then grows cold. Its so annoying. Then I close the door, and hide once more.

[CY walks closer and sees ES talking]

ES: That feeling has always been first. This person isn't it. This isn't it. Even after meeting CY, it was like that.

[CY startles when he hears his name, thinks to leave, but stays to listen].

ES: Always establishing boundaries. Don't come in. Don't come in.

[CY can't help but feel hurt]

ES: It wasn't because I knew I was going to leave someday. Jang Sung seng.

JB: Yes.

[CY turns to look at her]

ES: It was just that my heart wouldn't be like that [like how it used to be]. When we were together, at times it was so familiar. I yearned so much it was hard to bear. I felt those feelings, but that person- it just couldn't be this person (CY).

[CY quietly leaves without a word. ES keeps talking]

ES: But whenever I turned around, he was there. Looking at me. Even when I couldn't see him, if I asked if he was there, he always replied "i'm here". (ES wipes her tears). I must be drunk. I better go to sleep. (She looks at the diary pages next to her). I don't know who you [the person who wrote them] are, why you wrote this letter to me, and i really don't know who "that person" is, you write of.

when ES is talking to JB about her heart, CY is actually standing outside, listening. Unfortunately he leaves before she talks and cries about her feelings for him - he only hears that she tried to push him out of her heart.

which is why he says, as he walks in the night with DaeMan, "she has no thoughts... that person has no heart [for me]".

Ep 17 script tidbits:

it describes the kiss like this: [CY] grabs ES and puts his lips to hers. At first with urgency, and as it continues, with impatience. (probably because he wants to get to the next stage! rowr~~ )
when he hugs her, it says that CY can't bring himself to let her go, so he hugs her more deeply. ES rests her head on him. For the two of them, the past few days have been filled with heartsickness and longing.
when they are in the small room talking, after her fumbled spy efforts, and after she tells him that she wants to know that he is somewhere alive and well, he unconsciously finds himself moving toward her before he gets interrupted by sounds from the guards outside (eeesh!~ damn redhats)

Script tidbits for episode 18:

Post-kiss: CY finds himself taking a step back so he can gauge ES's reaction. Luckily, ES, after opening her eyes, doesn't evade his gaze but looks back at him. Only then does CY, while suppressing a voice that wants to tremble, speak. During this scene, he keeps taking looks at ES to make sure she is ok, feeling reassured only when he sees her smile at him. Then, when he is being taken away and he turns back to look at her, ES is standing there looking at him. In that moment, ES can see no one else but CY.
After CY runs to see ES and hugs her, he can't believe she's standing in front of him so he hugs her more deeply. And when she asks him doesn't he have to go to the king and he just stands there after saying yes - its because he can't stop looking at her. It says he FINALLY manages to turn away, but then turns back again, with a face that says he wants to run back to her again. Only when ES smiles, is he able to walk away.
The Confession scene: the part with her mussy hair was written differently. ES was supposed to have one of those hairpieces that was in danger of falling out, that was bothering CY. He raises his hand to push it back in, but ES moves away too busy talking to notice. He finally seats her in front of the mirror and pushes a brush into her hands. While ES brushes her hair, CY stands behind her and fiddles with her hairpiece when he notices the bandage. [OMG, so funny, Writer Song wrote: ES isn't sick so please don't make her lips white. ahahah]
Missing/Cut Scene: there was a scene between CY and JB about how CY never got a chance to get the antidote from DHG. JB says good, because how can you trust DHG? (DUDE> for real. Speak the Truth). and CY is the one who senses the man in the black hat who leaves the note for ES.

episode 19 script tidbits:

when CY met NG in the hallway of the palace, and he bows to her - he holds his bow for longer. (probably paying his respects to her , in his own way).
during the scene where CY and his Aunt are speaking and as he is leaving she tells him about Yuan's condition that ES be publicly executed, and CY asks what will happen to GM if he can't produce ES - at this point in the script, he takes off his Woodalchi headband and THEN says, "what right does a bas***d like me have to know the King's situation". [wow i wish they had kept that in.. that would've been a pretty powerful moment]
walking in the forest: the first time we see them walking together was supposed to be longer. ES (the script called for something round to be used in her hairstyle.haha) takes a peek at CY and notices his downcast face. She picks up some leaves and stealthily tries to tuck one behind his ear. Without looking, CY grabs her wrist, looks at the leaves in it, and then continues to walk, holding her hand. [she did have leaves in her hand, actually, in what aired.] After she teases him about his manner of speak, he pulls her in and kisses her hair. She snuggles into his chest; while he holds her, he gazes in the distance in the direction of the palace. (Man, i hate seeing him so torn. I miss the days when the interests of ES matched with the interests of GM).
Even while he drinks the cup of liquor at that seedy tavern, CY slowly moves his sword into position in front of him. (Dimples is ever so alert, as always.)

episode 20 script tidbits:

In the scene where ES and CY are fighting about returning to the palace, and ES really lets CY have it, the script says that CY can't find the words because he isn't used to arguing with a woman. After he lets the Yuan Ninja guy go, he looks at his sword again with a fresh perspective.
JB was supposed to be in this episode in multiple scenes. In fact, he was the one who was supposed to carry out NG after she fainted. And he was supposed to be tending to her as well.. I hope nothing's wrong with Philip Lee.
During the handholding scene: ES was actually intended to be the one to move towards CY. And reach for his hand, herself. (SUPER glad they switched it up. was more meaningful with CY making the moves to comfort her).
When CY comes to see her in the palace, he was supposed to walk in on her chanting to herself: "Don't worry, be happy. Aja!" with her fists waving around. (Which would've been pretty funny)
During CY and GM scene: CY looks at him painfully; to see GM in the condition that he is in. By the end of the conversation, however, CY gets GM to get a hold of himself. Indeed, after CY leaves, GM makes an effort to steady himself and his senses.

Episode 21 script tidbits:

ES REALLY didn't want to leave the half-nekkid Wooldachi fighting match. She was very interested in it. ^^
In the scene with the almost kiss: CY unconsciously moved closer to ES until he stood directly in front of her. It says that after he asks her to repeat "Daejang" again, he almost loses control and only narrowly stands upright when CS busts in on them. After he leaves, ES looks worried and touches the wound on her arm that DuckHindAss gave her, then checks her temperature. (uhoh).
Where ES is cutting medicinal herbs, CY is originally supposed to stop her from cutting once he sees how she isn't paying attention to what she's cutting. Then he notices her hands are dirty and cleans them..
I think they cut this part out, but after he gets the medicines from Mama that could possibly help ES, CY feels so anxious he starts out walking fast, then progressively faster until he starts running back to ES - DM is following him and "feels" how CY's heart is heavy.
In the hair/bed scene, CY sees that ES is combing her hair with her fingers making it more messy, which is why he gets his comb out. (HAIR fetish, fo'sho. that or just a neat freak. ). After ES tests his hand, she wrinkles her forehead with worry and CY finds himself reaching out to smooth her forehead with his hand. After CY pulls her and makes her fall onto the bed, ES lies down on her own. CY looks at her lying there and then just lies back down himself. After looking at the ceiling for a bit, he closes his eyes (Didn't call for holding hands. But i liked it with that in.)
After ES helps CY get dressed in the morning, she leans her forehead on his back. CY waits patiently, while ES offers a silent prayer that CY be safe today.
At the end, DM was supposed to be falling asleep while sitting in the room with her, guarding ES. Then he wakes up suddenly and starts moving towards the door - which is where MaBu (black hat assassin) comes in from.

Episode 22 script tidbits:

Possibility is raised that SY (the Yuan envoy) is a time-traveler, himself. specifically referring to the modern watch he used to check the time after he left DuckHindAss and GC in the other room. Script says no way to know (now) if SY has time-slipped to modern times (at some point). !!! [but SY mentioned Goguryeo when talking to GC ... which is the empire that gave way to Goryeo -- could he be a time traveler for real?]
Scene where GC and CY face each other while CY is helping GM escape - originally, it was supposed to be a scene in which GC and CY almost fought. GC had his frozen hand going; CY was going to spark his hand up, but it says that he is unable to call up his electricity/there is a problem.
CY is very angry that GM wont' leave until his army arrives. It says that he kills an enemy soldier in a burst of anger. (Did you know there are only 12 Woodalchi inside fighting against all of GC's forces???!!)
CY fighting solo scene: When they usher GM into a room to protect him, CY stays outside to guard the back from incoming soldiers. One of the Woodalchi gets his leg cut by a sword, CY grabs him by his clothes and throws him into the room, then turns back to fight. CY's breath is already labored from fighting; he looks at his right hand holding the sword and it is trembling. He transfers the sword to his left hand, but drops the sword sheath. DB comes in, and the fight continues. When its over, CY is breathing even more heavily. He looks around at all the dead bodies. He leans over to pick up the sword case; he tries to sheath his sword but because of his trembling hand, misses several times. DB watches with alarm.
Scene where CY tries to get GM to order the army to attack: after GM tells CY he considers himself one citizen of Goryeo, he puts his hand on CY's arm and apologizes "I'm sorry. Because of my stubborness you must spill blood once more.". As CY gives orders to guard the King, he says that he will guard the entrance alone. DB asks " Daejang, alone?" and CY responds "I will do it". (GOd, my heart breaks)
CY's return to Woodalchi: ES runs out and almost falls, she is so eager at his return. The other Woodalchi start greeting each other but watch CY/ES surreptitiously, taking peeks. CY walks by ES without a word; ES looks around awkwardly, but the other Woodalchi members pretend they saw nothing. After ES turns to follow CY inside, the Woodalchi look satisfied.
CY doesn't want ES to help him change out of his clothes because he doesn't want to show her his blood smeared appearance. After ES hugs him, he hugs her back, burying his face in her neck and closing his eyes - finally, he is able to breathe.
When Duck Hind Ass is telling GC where he hid the rest of Hwata's artifacts, SY is actually listening in on this conversation. (Uhoh...)
Scene where ES is walking with Duh-Gi on the way to the Queen. She exchanges greetings with all the Woodalchi members she passes. The garden she walked through is filled with blooming yellow chrysanthemums.
CY's feelings when he goes to confront ES in their room (while she is with the Queen): He is unable to hide or suppress his feelings. He is worked up and goes to throw open the doors, but stops himself to steady his breathing. After he sees that ES isn't there, he looks at the containers on the desk which held her medicine. They are completely empty. The emotions he was trying to suppress bubble up. CY stands there shaking and then knocks the table aside.
During the last scene, CY is described as soul weary. As he is so worked up, he doesn't notice that his hand is trembling until ES grabs it. ES kisses his hand and holds it to her chest, while looking up at CY. CY looks at ES with confusion and bewilderment.

episode 23 tidbits:

omitted scene from beginning: ES walks along Woodalchi headquarters holding two apples in her hands, cleaning them on her shirt. She stops when she hears the sound of swordplay. CY is practicing with the sword; first with one hand, but then he breathes heavily and switches to two hands - as if the sword weighs more than it actually does. It's as if he wants to practice his way past his hand's irregularity. ES watches with troubled eyes. On one movement, the sword slips from CY's grasp; he goes to pick it up but it falls out of his hand again, and then again. An apple comes flying out of nowhere, and CY catches in on reflex. Another apple comes flying, and he catches that. He turns around and sees ES. Then he looks at the apples in his hand and realizes that there is nothing wrong with his hand when he unconsciously moves it.
The scene where CY tells ES to return to her time: after he tells her he will try to make her laugh during their time left, ES cries and CY wipes her tears away with his hand.
Scene where ES accompanies CY to GC's house: while she is walking with all the Woodalchi, they are walking to fast for her to keep up. So she starts to walk faster, almost as if she is running, ahead of them. Behind her, CY turns a corner; ES doesn't realize this and keeps going straight; CY grabs her by her nape and and takes her in the right direction. (hahaha )
Scene when ES asks CY what he likes: after taking a moment to think, he lifts his hand and puts his hand on her shoulder. then he pats it twice. when ES turns around she looks at him with a puzzled face and laughs - CY then pushes her from behind and starts walking. [aww, awkward CY]
After CY chases GC's spy, he turns around and starts running to get back to ES. When he sees her talking with the other Woodalchi, he breathes a sigh of relief. ES laughs and stops suddenly; as if she feels CY's gaze upon her she turns around and smiles when she sees him.
CY's room: CY takes off ES's armor for her; he turns around naturally; ES then begins to take off his armor for him. This is when their conversation about going out on a shopping spree. ES gets so excited, she forgets she was helping him take off his armor. CY ends up having to take off his armor, himself.
The Date: CY and ES are walking side by side. ES happily looks here and there (Writer Song recommended the apple hairstyle) while CY looks around on guard. When he turns back, ES isn't there. She is walking in the other direction. CY sighs and follows her. (Woodalchi/Suribang ppl are mixed in with the crowd). Inside a clothing store, CY is standing by the door with his arm's crossed, watching ES. ES is with the storeowner, picking out clothes. She picks out an outfit and holds it up to herself, asking CY: "What about this color? Does it suit me?" CY awkwardly replies, "I don't know." "Hmph," ES says. She picks up another outfit and looks at herself in the mirror. "How am i supposed to wear this? This is what you wear on the outside, right? Can I try this on? Isn't there someplace in here I can try this on?" CY comes to her side and swoops up all the clothes she picked out, including the one she was holding, and gives it to the storeowner. ES says, "You said you were going to buy me something. i'll pick something quickly. Just one." CY: (to the storeowner) We'll take them all. CY then calls for DM and tells him to carry the clothes. CY pushes ES out of the store. DM takes out a pouch; the storeowner sneaks a peek and is amazed because there is several pieces of silver. DM takes out one piece and smiles.
The Date continued: CY looks to the side slightly and sees the GC's spy he saw at GC"s house. He pretends not to see him, and furtively pulls ES in by her shoulders to walk more closely next to him. ES walks out of his embrace and heads straight to an accessories shop. CY notices someone else watching them. ES takes an ornament and holds it next to CY's head but he grabs her by her wrist. ES puts it against her own head and shows CY. CY looks at her, at a loss. ES holds another ornament against her head. CY looks at the table, picks one, and holds it out to her. ES holds it up to herself, as if asking him to put it on her. CY looks behind ES and sees another man approaching. "When I say right now, there is a wall over there". ES looks at him in alarm. "Right now". ES heads to the wall without another glance. CY fights off the men attacking with bare hands and stands in front of her. 4 -5 men surround CY with weapons. As they attack, CY defends ES with bare hands. ES watches, plastered to the wall. "Why is it just you guys, what about the men behind you," CY asks, and kicks one of them. The men surround CY again. "Are these guys it? There aren't any others around?" CY asks loudly. The attackers look around in surprise. The other people around them, merchants and townspeople alike, take out weapons and point them at the attackers. Amidst them is a disguised DolBae. "No, seems like this is it," says DB. All of a sudden, one of the men swings his sword at ES; CY kicks up one of the fallen swords into his hand and meets the attacker's sword mid-swing. But the moment the swords touch, CY loses his grip and his sword falls out of his hand. DB uses his spear to block the attacker's sword, while other Woodalchi come and block the attacker in. CY grabs ES and takes her further away. DB concernedly takes peeks at CY. From behind, ES looks at CY's right hand, which is clenched in a fist. ES covers his hand with her own. When his hand un-tenses, ES laces her fingers with his until he regains control. Then she releases his hand and walks in front of him. Woodalchi is tying up the men they caught. CY says that there is no way they would've only sent these men. In the distance, we see HSI watching the whole thing.
When CY tucks ES into bed, he watches her because he doesn't want to forget her.
Scene when DB pleads with CY to stay as Daejang even if his hand doesn't work. When DB asks, "if you need a hand, i will be by your side. it might not compare to your sword but my lance is pretty good. can't this be your hand?" CY looks at him with warmth before he smacks him on the head.
Conversation with GC in jail: when ES is speaking with GC, she finds herself unconsciously leaning towards CY, who puts his hand on her shoulder.
When CY first finds out about ES's fever, the script says that his heart starts to waver and he begins to lose focus, while ES feels sorry. When he hugs her, it is with sadness and tears that he can't allow to fall.
After CY finds out about using poison as an antidote, ES unwraps and shows him her arm because the wound has swollen twice its original size and has blisters forming. He is shocked by it. CY turns around because he can't bear to look at ES's face.
Hair-combing scene: ES sits in a chair and releases her hair. CY smoothes her hair and combs it. ES sits and feels his touch. CY carefully, awkwardly and painlessly combs her hair. Sitting on top of the bed; CY sits behind ES who leans on him. Little by little, her breath starts to quicken. CY turns her around and looks into her face. Her breath is unsteady and fast. CY lays her down and touches her to check her temperature. CY lies down next to her and holds her. He holds ES tighter and tighter as she shivers from her fever.
When CY gets the S.O.S. about GC's ruckus, he hesitates for a bit next to ES. He can't bring himself to leave her. He brushes her hair back and kisses her forehead, and finally leaves in a hurry.

episode 24 tidbits:

missing scene: CY is talking to DukMan and CS about how GC escaped. He asks when the Evil Siblings (HSI and CEJ escaped), and asks why they would enter the palace and then leave without GC. When he comes to the realization they were here for ES, he stands up suddenly to run, but that's when DM comes stumbling in to tell him that ES is missing (I can't believe JumOh turned out to be the bad guy here!!)
missing scene: CY is sitting down next to DB's body, surrounded by the bodies of other fallen Woodalchi, all covered with white cloth. Aunt is standing next to CY. CY puts his hand on DB's shoulder, says goodbye in his heart, and raises the white cloth over DB's face. The scene that took place between Aunt and CY in his room in the drama, actually happened here in the script. And when he turns to leave to go after ES, Aunt, CS, DM and the rest of Wooldachi look at his back with sadness as he goes.
Conversation between GM and CY actually took place in CY's room in the script. He enters and looks around his wrecked room with anxiety and fury. On the table there is the aspirin bottle - he picks it up and tucks away in his chest. He walks towards the rumpled bed and puts his hand on it. She was here until just before.. He thinks about how he wasn't able to be by ES's side and feels as if he is about to explode with frustration. He turns around and there is GM.
When CY enters the tavern (after ES has already left), he had suppressed his feelings until he was hardened. He has a rough appearance as he looks around the tavern. When he sees the "I am fine" message ES left on the wall in Hangeul, he puts his hand on it. It's as if ES is standing next to him, telling him it will be ok. He almost cries.
CY on a horse, racing after ES. A pharmacy owner points in a particular direction. CY pulls on the reins and follows.. (Mambo siblings got their network going, clearly.. awesome).
When CY arrives where ES is being held, CEJ and Yangsa are sitting. They hear someone knocking on the tavern door. The tavern owner says, "We aren't open". The knocks stop. CEJ looks at the door with trepidation. In the crack in the door, CEJ sees electricity sparking, and then the door bursts open. The fight between CY vs. CEJ/Yangsa ensues.
Modified scene post-fight: ES is supposed to walk in on CY after he stabs CEJ. CY looks at her, but tears his gaze away to look for GC. After he opens the door that GC had gone through before, he turns around to look at ES. He opens his mouth but words don't come out. ES walks and stands right in front of him. He looks her over, and with a trembling hand, pushes her hair back. With a trembling heart. After he asks her if she can finally stay with him, he drops his sword. He pulls her in and kisses her. This is what he has wanted and waited for so long.
Convo between ES/CY in bed: A closed door. CY's sword placed on a sword pulled close to the bed, for easy access. The two are lying on the bed. ES is lying face-up, with her eyes closed. CY is looking down at ES, with his head rested on his arm. He looks at her with thanks that she is alive. ES, who can feel his gaze, smiles with her eyes closed. When ES traces his features with her hand, she does so with the feeling, "so this is how this person looks..."
By the tree: Its a happy time as ES rides the horse that CY is leading. Whenever their gazes meet, they smile at each other. Until CY tenses up; he looks around and sees GC. He passes the reins to ES and takes out his sword.
Modified fight scene between CY/GC: CY tells ES to stand back. "Now". ES crouches down. GC's sword passes over her head; CY grabs GC from behind which is when GC manages to place his hands on CY's and freeze him. CY tries to move away but cant; it is clear that GC's causing big damage to him. ES is scared and tries to move closer, but CY is barely able to say, "Don't come any closer". After CY and GC fall to the ground, ES runs to CY and helps lay down. She doesn't cry yet; as a doctor, she checks him over first. Hurriedly, she checks his pulse. There is a rapid decline in his body temperature. Heartbeat slows.. CY's breaths slow. CY looks at ES. ES starts to cry and begins CPR.
The ending: ES's return to Goryeo: when she enters the tavern, she pulls her hat down so hide her face and sits in the corner. She orders a plate of food in Goryeo-speak - its clear she has become used to speaking this way during her 1 year stay in the past. As ES listens to DM/DM/CS speak, she has tears in her eyes, particularly after they mention CY. ES stands up, and the bag she was holding her lap fall on the ground unnoticed. ES leaves; CS looks towards the door and notices a woman wearing a hat leaving..
ES walks the road to heaven's door. she walks faster and faster; almost falling in her eagerness. She can see the tree by which CY lay dying; Partly with fear, partly with eagerness she walks towards the tree. Maybe..maybe... but there is nobody beneath the tree. The place where ES buried the aspirin bottle with the chrysanthemum is now filled with chrysanthemums. ES walks towards them but stops abruptly, almost as if she received a signal. ES turns around. From a distance, she sees CY looking at her with incredulous eyes. ES takes off her hat. CY looks at ES with disbelief. He turns his head as if he saw a vision and then turns back. "Imja?" he mouths. They look at each other thus.
Epilogue: Then passes a montage of scenes, starting with CY escorting the royal couple from Yuan in the rain. CY wearing the cloak looks up at the sky. Then the scene where CY is lying on the field beneath the tree as if dead. A drop of rain falls, then another. ES's voiceover about how she likes the moment before rain starts to fall. CY's arm is spread over some chrysanthemums. CY opens his eyes and slowly turns his head. There is something caught amidst the mums - without much strength CY clears away the mums and sees a halfburied aspirin bottle. He is able to lift the bottle out - we hear the sound of CY's heartbeat. At first slow and quiet; it starts to speed up. CY looks at the bottle closely - although it has moss on it and looks old, it is clearly an aspirin bottle. With his other hand CY digs in his chest pocket and takes out his aspirin bottle. He looks at them side by side; his heartbeat is now normal. As raindrops fall, CY smiles. He has survived.
ES walks towards CY and then starts running towards him. At this point, CY opens his arms to her, still in disbelief at this miracle. As if flying, ES runs into CY's arms. CY holds her close.

#91 from the script - how did CY survived

Spoiler:

CY closed his eyes, as if he is dead. A rain drops, two rain drops...
ES: (repeat what she said about how she likes the rain from EP23)
CY moved one of his hand that was lying across some yellow flowers. He opened his eyes, turned his head, coz he felt something with his hand. Among the little yellow flowers, he struggled to move his hands around the flowers. There, there's an asipirin bottle half buried inside the ground.

He struggled to take out the bottle, at the same time, (we're supposed to hear CY's heart beating sound) CY's heart beat. It started really slow and then races faster.

He finally got the bottle on his hand, because it has been god knows how long so it was covered in algae, but that is definitely an asipirin bottle.
CY used another of his hand to search himself, and took out his own asipirin bottle. He looked at both, and his heart beat started to beat normally.
Under the rain drops, he smiles, and he's has survived.

#92

ES walked towards CY, as she walks she started running. CY opened up his arms to embrace her.
Excited with the unbelievable miracle. ES (as if she's going to fly) flew into CY's arms, CY caught her and hugged her.

The End...

------------------------------------------

100 years before CY's time, but the same place under the tree. ES with a straw hat and a staff walks to the place where CY was lying. She drops to the ground and starts digging with a stick. Next to her is the aspirin bottle full of yellow mums. ES puts the aspirin bottle inside the hole and covers it with dirt, as if to plant the bottle.

ES's narration: That is why I go to the heaven's door every day. I believe that my faith, rather than my calculations, will bring me back to him. Believing is the easiest thing to do for me now.

The bunch of yellow mums from ES's aspirin bottle look as if they grew there. (No other yellow mums should be around in the area)

[More description of ES going in and out of the portal. She observes which flowers are around to check whether she's coming back to the same time or not. Then follows the ending we saw - ES going to 4 years after her departure. There is indication that for her, it took about a year to finally make it to this time.]

ES approaches the tree, and the whole area is full of yellow mums. However, there is nobody under the tree. She gets closer, then turns around, and CY is watching her with disbelief in his eyes. ES takes off her straw hat. CY stares at her, speechless. As if to shake off an illusion, he looks away, then looks back. As if he's whispering, "Imja...?" Like that, they stare at each other.

Epilogue

[Description of the beginning of episode one when CY and his men in cloaks were escorting the king and the queen from Yuan to Goryeo. Ends with CY looking up the sky.]

[Back to the place under the tree when ES left.]

CY is on the ground, eyes closed, looking dead.

One by one, rain drops start to fall.

ES's voice: I like the moment when rain starts to fall. One by one, when the rain drops land on my forehead, "Huh?" it makes me look up like this.

CY's one arm is extended onto the yellow mums. He opens his eyes and turns his head. His hand touches something among the mums. He moves the yellow mums aside and find the half-uncovered aspirin bottle. He grabs it, pulls it out. Meanwhile, his heartbeat can be heard. At first, it's a soft and slow beat, but gets faster. He manages to look at the bottle closer. It's really old and dirty with moss, but it certainly is an aspirin bottle. CY gets his own aspirin bottle out and holds the two of them together. The heartbeat sounds normal now.

Under the pouring rain, CY starts to smile. He'll live.

[Back to the ending scene]

ES walks toward CY. Then she starts running. CY opens his arms wide. He's overcome by this unbelievable miracle. ES dives into his arms. CY embraces her.

Also, the message from ES that says "It's ok" was in the scene where Gi Cheol and his people were hiding. CY recognizes the letters from back when ES did the Love Actually(written messages scene) thing. He surely does remember everything about ES!

In conclusion, the writer added the aspirin bottle as another clue for CY to trust and wait for ES, but the director chose to just have ES's words from the previous episode- "I don't think I'll be ok. Even if I went back, I'll try to come back to you, and the portal may take me to other worlds instead, and I'll wander aimlessly until I find you" (something like that... not exact quote because I'm too lazy to look that up).- be the only clue for CY to have hope. I guess that makes it more dramatic.

Q&A with WRITER

Song Ji-na did a fifty question and answer event with fans of "Faith" who posted on her website. There were a lot of repeat questions or questions that overlapped so I think Writer Song actually ended up answering more than fifty. She didn't reveal everything but her answers do provide a lot of insight into her writing process, how she envisioned the drama, and how it actually turned out. It was an amazingly interesting read and while I know other wonderful fans have translated the Q&A already at Soompi, I wanted to take my stab at it and provide a space where fans can talk about it in more detail here. Since I can't translate everything all at once, I decided to do it in parts. I will be translating the questions in the order Writer Song answered them and will skip over questions already asked if need be.

Many of the questions in the Q&A were about the last episode and through Writer Song's answers, I saw how important episode one was to understanding episode twenty-four. Everyone who asked a question had read the scripts. So in order to provide the context to people's questions and Writer Song's answers, I will go over the scripts for episode one and twenty-four first. I will point out key points and differences and provide my own explanation, if required.

Episode 1

1. Hwata is a real Chinese physician who is called Hua Tou in Chinese. The exact year in the drama during which Hwata disappeared into the portal is 208 A.D. According to real historical records, that is the year historians estimate Hua Tou died.

2. It didn't rain on that day at the Yuan border. I don't know what they filmed it as so and there seems to be no answer even in the Q&A and in episode 24 (you will see later what I am talking about when I go over episode 24).

In a still cut we got early in the beginning of the broadcast, we see the scene filmed without the rain.

3. Jang Bin does not have any supernatural power. So in episode two when we see "energy" coming out of Jang Bin's fan, it is only a special effect put in by the director to emphasize Jang Bin's ability to hit specific acupuncture points, disabling his opponents.

4. Noguk was attacked in the afternoon, not at night like we saw in the broadcasted version. So there was no glow-in-dark powder or swords used by the Woodalchi.

5. Which means when Gongmin and Young go to the portal, it is still afternoon, unlike what we saw in the broadcast.

6. In the script, Writer Song wrote a scene for when Young was inside the wormhole. She envisioned it like a long tunnel that Young is running through. At one point, he comes up against a dead end but he sees a small passageway off to the side and runs through there.

7. When Young comes out of the wormhole, it is night in Seoul. So Goryeo time and Seoul time are definitely working on a different level.

8. While in the broadcast we never saw the boyfriend see Young, in the script, both boyfriend and girlfriend see Young with their own eyes.

9. An entire scene in the script disappeared in the broadcast. Choi Young is stopped by the manager at the conference when he tries to go in without a ticket. The manager would be the same guy who later talks to Young in the security room.

10. Writer Song specifically wrote that Eun-soo grabs three antibiotic bottles from the sales booths to perform surgery on the injured manager. This number later becomes important in episode two because we see how Eun-soo uses two up with Noguk and Dae-man destroys one.I don't think this missing detail really matters because we get the point that there is no antibiotic left for Young after she stabs him, whether we knew how many Eun-soo grabbed or not.

11. Young obtains the police shield a different way. He actually grabs it from a policeman. Unlike the broadcast, Young gets into a physical confrontation with policemen before he blasts them with his power.

12. The portal opening in Seoul is not as distinct as it is in Goryeo. Song Ji-na wrote that the portal opening is hard to see.

13. Before Eun-soo and Young enter the portal, Eun-soo doesn't trip and Young doesn't bend down in front of her. Instead he says, "I am Goryeo warrior," as he walks toward Eun-soo and she backsteps. She ends up tripping closer to the portal and Young catches her. Then he walks into the portal with her like that.

14. Eun-soo was born April 5, 1980.

15. When Young first joins the Woodalchi, Deok-man is not there yet, unlike the broadcasted version. Joo-suk should have been there instead. Dae-man is also not there but I knew that Young was the one that brought Dae-man into the Woodalchi later on when I read the character description on the SBS website. I remember complaining about the lack of backstory between Young and the Woodalchi because I wanted to see how the Woodalchi came to respect and follow Young as a leader. It turns out that Writer Song had covered that in her script but it was not filmed/broadcasted.

When Young's backstory starts near the end of episode 1, Joo-suk (the one who was supposed to be complaining about Young, instead of Dol-bae) complains about Young coming in as daejang despite his young age. He thinks the palace guards, who already look down on Woodalchi, will have more ammunition to make fun of them.

Before Young enters the Woodalchi room, two Woodalchi come in injured after a fight with the palace guards.
This upsets everyone. At this point Young enters and everything proceeds as we saw it in the broadcast. We get as far Dol-bae reporting to Choong-suk that Young has been sleeping for days. In the script, we get an additional scene after this of Choong-suk actually waking up Young and asking him to talk to the leaders of the palace guards so that they don't bother the Woodalchi. He wants Young to a least do that even though he knows that Young doesn't want to be here.

Young gets up and goes down into the practice room where the Woodalchi are. He leaves his sword with Dol-bae and takes Dol-bae's practice wooden sword instead. He leaves the room.

Choong-suk, Joo-suk, Dol-bae, and other Woodalchi come running to where Young is outside in the palace. He has just beaten a group of palace guards. The palace guards are all huffing and puffing, exhausted from the fight, while Young is still looking half-awake. It obviously cost him no energy to fight those many guards. He walks toward the gawking Woodalchi and hands the wooden sword to Dol-bae, while taking his own sword back from him.

As Young walks away, we were supposed to watch him walk by a flower bed with chrysanthemums growing. Writer Song didn't actually specify chrysanthemums in the episode one script. She just wrote "flower that is going to be important with Eun-soo later." I guess she was leaving it up to the production staff to find an appropriate flower. Writer Song asked in the script for computer graphics (CG) to make the flowers bloom when Young walks by. If no CG was available, at least have the flowers shake in the wind as Young walks by.

Argh, why wasn't this scene put in?!?! It would have really helped to set up the aura of a "destined" relationship between Young and Eun-soo. I think Writer Song wanted to emphasize the specialness of Young and Eun-soo in this world, that it wasn't a random act that Young was the one who went through the portal and met Eun-soo out of all the other doctors. *weep*

Episode 24

1. The scene were Dol-bae is attacked by Ki Chul happens a little differently in the script. Young doesn't attack Ki Chul after Dol-bae falls. Instead, he goes in as soon as Ki Chul has his hand on Dol-bae's neck so he is able to push Dol-bae away from Ki Chul after Ki Chul knocks away Young's sword. Dol-bae falls to the ground in Young's arms. In the broadcasted version, we see Dol-bae already on the floor when Young bends down to him.

2. Deok-man never placed Dol-bae's spear by his side in the script. I think this was a nice addition by the director for the broadcast version.

3. Dae-man didn't use a wet cloth to block Hwasooin in the script. Writer Song's description for this scene wasn't very detailed so I think the director filled in the blanks to make it more exciting.

4. Young never patted Dae-man on the head after he saw that Dae-man was still alive after being hurt by Hwasooin.

5. Young's conversation with Lady Choi after Eun-soo is kidnapped actually happens in the palace corridor where the bodies of the Woodalchi that were killed by Ki Chul and his pledged siblings are laid out, covered in white cloth. There were other Woodalchi there also, including Choong-suk and Deok-man, so they all heard Young scream, "I'm waiting," and say, "I feel like I am going to die." Which means in the script we never saw Young pick up his sword again like we did in the broadcast.

6. The scene of the conversation between Young and Gongmin happened differently in the script. First, in the broadcast, the conversation happened right after the scene I discussed above, but in the script, it happened after Eun-soo saw the third relic. Second, the conversation happened in Young's room. So instead of Young entering his room for the first time after Eun-soo's disappearance to see Lady Choi in there, Young enters his room and finds it empty and messy after the fight. He sees his aspirin bottle on his table and puts it inside his robes. He also gently caresses the bed that Eun-soo was lying on. Gongmin enters the room at this point and they have the conversation we saw in the broadcast.

7. Young uses his power to help unhinge the door to the inn that Eun-soo is trapped in. Then he knocks it down.

8. Eun-soo didn't appear from the corner behind the door. She appears behind Young right after he kills Eum-ja. She has come to him after slicing Ki Chul and escaping from him. Young never saw Ki Chul in the inn. He doesn't immediately ask Eun-soo if she is okay. He first checks the rest of the inn for Ki Chul and Eun-soo watches him silently. Eun-soo steps toward him and Young looks at her face. Then he brushes back her hair. He asks her if she is okay and they have the beautiful conversation we all know so well- "Can you stay by my side now?" After Eun-soo says yes, Youn drops his sword and kisses her. Writer Song's direction- "As if he wanted to and waited for a long time to do so." Let's all weep now that this part wasn't included.

9. In the broadcast version, we saw the portal repel Ki Chul. In the script, it is written that nothing happens when Ki Chul walks into the light. He leaves and tries again but still nothing happens. So he eats the medicine that Yang-gak gave him and tries again. Still nothing happens. I think Ki Chul taking Yang-gak's medicine explains how he was able to defeat Young later on with his power.

10. The fight between Young and Ki Chul happens a little differently in the script. The only thing worth mentioning is that Eun-soo tries to run to Young as he is being frozen by Ki Chul but he tells her to not come close.

11. Young falls to his knees in the script instead of on his back at the end of Ki Chul's attack. Writer Song describes Young's illness as hypothermia. Eun-soo runs to him then and lays him down. Eun-soo first checks his pulse, not crying yet, as her doctor instincts have taken over. Then we are supposed to hear an audio of Young's heartbeat slowing down, as well as his breathing. This is when Eun-soo starts CPR, crying. Then we hear Young's narration, "Why was it this person?"

12. Ki Chul never picked up Young's sword and stabbed the ground. He just dragged Eun-soo away.

13. While in the broadcast it looked like Eun-soo ran into the portal to get away from Ki Chul, in the script, Ki Chul dragged her in but only she could go through it, leaving Ki Chul behind.

14. There is no flashback sequence between the scene when Eun-soo is dragged away from Young and the scene with Ki Chul and Eun-soo in front of the portal.

15. Writer Song wrote that time in Seoul didn't pass at all while Eun-soo was gone so when she returns to Seoul, it is right after she was kidnapped into that portal by Young.

16. The reporters didn't come specifically to interview Eun-soo and the nurse asked Eun-soo about her kidnapping; she never introduced the reporters to Eun-soo. Eun-soo just grabs the backpack from the reporter and asks the nurse to give him the money for the bag.

17. Eun-soo never grabbed a necklace. Writer Song later answered in the her Q&A that she has no idea where the necklace came from. I'm guessing it was a weird product placement put in the last minute.

18. We should have seen Eun-soo specifically pick up an aspirin bottle too, along with other medical supplies at the hospital, but we didn't get that in the broadcast version.

19. We were also supposed to see Eun-soo a little nervous about reentering the portal. I think we get a little sense of that in the broadcasted version but it seemed more like Eun-soo was saying a last goodbye instead of having anxiety. At least that is how I saw it. I wish her nervousness was a little more obvious so we can see Eun-soo's lack of faith. Her next line of dialogue would have had a better answer for audiences if this was emphasized more and we knew for sure that it was Eun-soo's firm faith that later opened the portal again, despite calculations indicating other times.

20. After Eun-soo finds the portal closed, having run back after not finding Young in the field, there was no flashback montage in the script.

21. After the scene with Eun-soo's parents, we have an entire scene missing in the broadcasted version. We were supposed to get a scene of Eun-soo digging a hole where Young was dying on the field next to the tree and placing an aspirin bottle with a yellow chrysanthemum inside into the hole. We were supposed to hear Eun-soo narrate, "So everyday I went to the door to heaven. I believed that faith, not calculations, will take me back to that person again. Believing is now the easiest thing for me."

22. We were also supposed to see chrysanthemums start to grow by where Eun-soo buried the aspirin bottle.

23. I didn't notice this when I was recapping but the script made me see the difference. There was flowers by the rock when Eun-soo when into the portal but not when she came back out.

24. In the script, Writer Song wrote that Eun-soo speaks slightly in Goryeo-speak because she has been in Goryeo for over a year.

25. Did you guys notice that Dae-man stopped stuttering? I didn't pay attention to that when I was recapping.

26. In the script, Eun-soo doesn't see Young sitting by the tree. Young was standing a bit off to the side of the field and she finds him looking at her with disbelieving eyes. Eun-soo slowly takes off her hat but Young still can't believe what he is seeing. They stare at each other like this.

27. Then the next scene should have been the scene from the beginning when Young and the Woodalchi are escorting our royal couple to Goryeo from Yuan. Except this time, we specifically see Young look up at the sky. (Writer Song didn't specify at what in the sky.) She didn't write this in for the scene for episode 1. In episode 1, we have Young raise his ears a bit to hear the assassins following the carriage. Then Choong-suk comes up to report that he thinks there are people following them, just as we saw in the broadcasted version. Writer Song explains a little bit more about this later on in her Q&A. I won't get to this question in this post, but it will come later on. All I will say for that is that Writer Song asked this bit to be filmed right from the beginning and they assured her that it was filmed. With the still cut I see below, we know that they must have at least rehearsed the scene that way so I don't know why they never ended up using it. Hmm...

28. Then Writer Song wrote in a flashback montage scene. After the montage, we have another missing scene in which we are back to the moment Young is lying on the field, dying alone. It starts to rain and we hear Eun-soo's voice talking about how she likes the moment when it first starts raining and she looks up at the sky. When we first left Young in the field, there was no chrysanthemums but now there are. So Young's hand is resting on a bunch of chrysanthemums as he is lying there on the ground. He grasps the chrysanthemums and feels the now half-buried bottle of aspirin. He slowly claws it out. At the same time, we are supposed to hear Young's heartbeat beating very slowly. As Young looks at the aspirin bottle, he takes out his own from his robes, and the heatrbeat gets louder and faster to normal rate. Young smiles at his looks at the two aspirin bottles and the rain continues to fall. Writer Song writes, "He is coming back alive."

29. The last scene is different in the script. After the scene I just described in the above paragraph, we go back to Young and Eun-soo staring at each other. Eun-soo slowly walks toward Young at first but soon she starts to run. Young opens his arms to receive her and Eun-soo runs into his arms. They embrace.

Q&A Part 1

1. The first question asks why the rain scene where Young comes alive was not included in the broadcast version. The poster wants to know if Writer Song agreed to its deletion. Writer Song replies, "It may have been because there was no time to get my approval. I am assuming that the filming situation must have been hard. (Still, at least the chrysanthemum inside the aspirin bottle...at least...)"

I guess they had no time to film this scene at all, especially since they would have had to bring in sprinklers for the rain. But like Writer Song said, at least film Young finding the aspirin bottle. It would have shown how Young found it within himself to live again from the hypothermia.

On the other hand, without that scene, I kind of enjoyed thinking that Young waited for Eun-soo not matter what, without that aspirin bottle telling him that Eun-soo was trying to get back to him. Ah well.

2. The question was about whether Young waited, knowing that Eun-soo was going to come back, or whether he just waited out of longing. Writer Song replies, "He believed. His belief and her belief met and opened the road! (When Choi Young saw the aspirin bottle, he knew it was a message from Eun-soo. If so, he knew that she must be trying to get back to him.)"

3. The poster asked where Writer Song got her idea for Son Yoo's character. She replies, "Wouldn't someone else have passed the road that Eun-soo went through? It the portal really existed, it would be weird if Eun-soo and Choi Young were the only ones that went through it, with all the people in the world! This thought was the inspiration for Son Yoo's character."

4. The next question asked whether Writer Song would release the story in book form. The poster asked for it to be released before August 2013. At this point, Writer Song replied that if she releases a book, she will try to release it before August.

Now we know for sure that Writer Song will write the story in book form and release it in December. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. The question was about where the chrysanthemums around the tree came from. Was it planted by Eun-soo, Young, or did they grow by themselves? Writer Song replied that the chrysanthemums in the field came from Eun-soo's flower inside the aspirin bottle. In her imagination, she saw the field filled with chrysanthemums and it would have been famous by Young's time (waiting by the tree) for all the chrysanthemums.

*Weeps* Too bad for the limited time and thank goodness for the fan art, as you saw in the very first picture of this post.

6. The question was about how long Eun-soo was alone by herself in the past. Writer Song replied, "One year. So when Eun-soo meets Choi Young again, their ages are between one year apart and the same."

7. The poster asked if Son Yoo was also a time-traveler and if he was (judging by his clock), why did Writer Song write him up that way? Writer Song replied that he was written that way to just make us question, "Is he a time-traveler?" That is all she really wanted with his character.

To Be Continued with Part 2

I think we have consider that the director can't film things exactly the way it is written in the script because filming and writing a scene is very different. It may look good or work on paper, but it doesn't mean it can actually play out that way in the shooting of the scene. Also, the director is working with a budget, limited time, and other complications with locations, etc. Writer Song made this clear later in her Q&A so I don't think we can lay all the blame and disappointment with the director. Still, I read some scenes and wished so much that they would have been filmed. Oh well...
______________________________________

Song Ji-na's "Faith" Q&A Part 2

Part 1 here.

8. The question was about which scenes Writer Song was the most regretful about (or which scenes left a lot to be desired) and which scenes she treasured the most. Writer Song replied:

"The scene which I am most regretful about right now at this moment is the ending. The most treasured scene is...there are many...if I have to pick...

At the end of episode 19, the feeling of Eun-soo wearing the hat and carrying the cane stick. (The loneliness of future Eun-soo came out without a line of dialogue.)

The expression of Young, fighting alone in episode 22. (Ah, this actor is Choi Young now.)

Gongmin embracing Noguk on the bed in episode 20. (When I wrote it in the script I was okay, but when I saw it broadcasted, I choked up...)"

9. The poster asked if Writer Song had a message she definitely wanted to relay to viewers and the poster asked Writer Song to do it with a line from the drama. Writer Song replied:

"It's okay. Everything will turn out fine. This is just the beginning."

Remember, this is Young's inner thoughts as he is lying in the field, dying.

10. Repeat question of how long Eun-soo was in the past by herself. Writer Song's answer, "One year."

11. The question was about why the portal opened so quickly when it was supposed to open every 67 years. If Writer Song is saying it is because of faith, why didn't Eun-soo go back to dying Young the first time around?

This time, someone else answered. This poster wrote:

"The portal doesn't open every 67 years; it was supposed to open again in 67 years. The portal opened a few months after Eun-soo first arrived in Goryeo because the portal doesn't operate regularly. So the portal can open after some time again when Eun-soo goes back in time 100 years. Eun-soo must have traveled through time that way. Although the last time it opened, it seemed to be because of faith. Well, at least this is how I understood it."

Underneath this comment, Writer Song replied, "Yes, yes. This is so."

In sum, Eun-soo's calculations weren't entirely correct. There was always the possibility that the portal would open at other times besides Eun-soo's calculated dates. But at the end, Eun-soo was the one who opened the portal with her faith.

12. The question was, "Did you plan the situations involving the poison and diary from the beginning? The poison didn't seem to simply be something that harms people but something with an important meaning. What was it symbolic of?"

Writer Song replied, "I thought the diary was a record. The poison is poison. Something that harms us- we who should living healthily and properly. The poison when we talk about addiction. Drug addiction, alcohol addiction, materialistic addiction, apathy addiction, etc. I wanted to show it through different situations. But first, the lack of imagination on the part of the writer. Second, adverse conditions. Because of the lack of other things, I used the poison as a metaphor. I used it easily because it was simple...??"

13. The question was about Son Yoo again. The poster asked if he was from the future and why he had the watch and told his assistant to burn Eun-soo's tools. The poster also wanted to know if the person that Eun-soo wasn't supposed to save was Lee Seong-gye.

Writer Song replied:

"The two stances regarding history. One is Son Yoo. The other is Eun-soo. This is what I thought. I couldn't let go of my greed and attachment so while I was unable to draw it out from the story, I dealt with it only through dialogue. About Son Yoo, the answer is above..." (Answered in Part 1.)

It seems Writer Song really wanted to further explore the differences between Son Yoo and Eun-soo's treatment of history but she couldn't due to constraints. I'm hoping she writes more about this in her novel version.

14. This poster asked Writer Song to clearly explain why so many scenes from the script were deleted. The poster can understand if they had to film centrally on sets because of the budget but he/she can't understand other things.

Writer Song replied, "*weep* The first mistake is that the writer couldn't write scenes to meet the conditions of the production."

It must be really difficult for drama writers in general to have to write in terms of budget and other production conditions, which may be very different what they had envisioned for their drama. I would probably be heartbroken if I couldn't get a scene I desperately wanted.

15. "Why couldn't Ki Chul go through the portal?"

Writer Song replied, "I'm curious about that too! I was just concerned that there would be people waiting in front of the Bongeunsa(temple) when there are solar flares. As a prevention measure ;) "

LOL. Writer Song has a sense of humor! I think I remember her answering this question a little more seriously later on when someone asks again.

16. This question is one that everyone here is also curious about. The poster asked if they filmed the kiss scene, with hopes that it might be included in the DVD.

Writer Song replied, "If they filmed it, it is unlikely that they would have taken it out during editing because the editing team had pressured me to put in kiss scenes."

Hahahaha! I guess everyone wants a kiss scene.

17. "Which scene do you like the most?"

Writer Song replied, "I answered a similar question up above." (Question 8 above.)

18. The question is about which scene Writer Song put the most effort in.

Writer Song replied, "In the beginning, action scenes. Later on I gave up after I realized they can't be filmed the way I want. It was hard trying to develop both Young and Gongmin's growth side-by-side, step-by-step."

19. This question was about the 500 nyang situation- why Writer Song wrote this kind of situation.

Writer Song replied, "Just because... ;) I wanted to put Choi Young in a situation that we experienced because I thought if I put Choi Young in that situation, it would seem more realistic...Truthfully, I wanted to extend that 500 nyang issue a little longer but I got irritated and just ended it."

I'm getting the feeling from the way the poster asked the question and the way Writer Song answered it that there was some real situation in recent Korean issues that was similar to what happened to Choi Young.

20. "Were there other images of Choi Young that you wanted to show in the drama?"

Writer Song replied, "I wanted to show a cheerful, cute, and happy image, but strangely ever time I wrote that kind of scene, it would get cut at the film site. ?? I thought they must not like it and later cowered a bit."

Ha! I wonder what happened on the film site for people to agree that a cute and happy Young wasn't going to work. Curiouser and curiouser.

21. "While every character that came out in Faith' was good, I felt that you put a lot more effort into Choi Young. I read here and there that women felt like they were dating Choi Young. Did you ever feel like you were dating Choi Young while you writing the script?"

Writer Song replied, "I disliked him a bit while I was writing. ?? It was because it hard writing lines for a character that used succinct speech. I heard that on the set, Eun-soo and Choi Young worked with smiling faces despite harsh conditions because they both have great personalities, so I was very grateful."

I never got the feeling with Choi Young, the way I did with Kim Boong-do from "Queen In Hyun's Man," that the writer was in love with the character and I guess I was right. With Boong-do, you could the writer was head-over-heels with her own character from the way she set up this character, speech, and Hee-jin's reaction to him. It wasn't the same feeling with Choi Young.

22. This poster was curious about Young and his sword. She/He asked how Young was able to stay a general when he said his sword was heavy. Was the burden in his heart cured? If it was, at what point? What made him able to pick up the sword again?

Other people answered this- that Young answered this question during his conversation with Gongmin in episode 2. He wasn't going to follow his teacher's footsteps. Writer Song replied that the people above answered for her.

23. Once again, this question was about why there were so many missing scenes from the script. The poster seemed pretty upset about it.

Writer Song replied, "Ah...I just took sleeping pills after I watched the episode yesterday and went to sleep. I'm just thinking that the filming situation must have been difficult...that they didn't have time."

24. The question was about what message Writer Song wanted to deliver through the drama.

Writer Song replied, "Even if we live just one day, let's live it loving."

Or maybe, "Even if you live one day, love." Does that sound better? The one above is more true to the Korean, I think, but in English, the second one sounds more smooth. Anyway, I love the message.

To be continued with Part 3.

Song Ji-na's "Faith" Q&A Part 3

25. "I remember a lot of Choi Young's dialogue because there were many that were good. Which one do you think is the best line of dialogue from Choi Young?"

Writer Song replied, "It will be forever, not just a day or a few days."

This line is from episode 21- Choi Young's confession to Eun-soo. Eun-soo had asked Young if he will be able to protect her for his entire life (forever) and he replied, "If I can have you...forever, not just a day or a few days." Great, I'm a weepy mess again. When will this drama let go of its hold on me?!?!

26. The question was about why the third relic was the projector and what was the point of the necklace.

Writer Song replied, "About the parents...I thought it would represent the past, because history is not just about the present and the future. It was also heartrending that Eun-soo didn't get to say goodbye to her parents. About the necklace...uhm...I don't know anything about this."

27. Ha! This fan got the same impression I did- that the writer didn't spend as much time giving us Eun-soo's thoughts as she did with Choi Young. The fan wrote, "I thought that you didn't develop Eun-soo's emotional line as much as Choi Young (besides the need for secrecy presented by the time-travel). Did you have a special reason for that? Did you have that intention from the beginning?"

Writer Song replied, "It is entirely my calculation mistake. I should have lead the story from Eun-soo's point of view starting from episode 9 but I lost that after many things went astray. It can also be said that I placed myself too much in Eun-soo's position and wrote the story assuming too many things. I am very sorry about this."

I'm so happy Writer Song did this Q&A because it provides some answers to my doubts. I was always a little confused about Eun-soo since we didn't get a lot of insight into her inner thoughts and how she felt about being in Goryeo and time-traveling. I have a lot of respect for a writer who recognizes her mistakes and can own up to it. I hope she will be able give more insight into Eun-soo's character in her book. I'm getting more excited about the book!

28. This question was about the one year trip the fortune teller mentioned in the first episode. The fan wanted to know if the year he mentioned was the year Eun-soo spent alone in the past-past.

Writer Song replied, "I thought one year in Gongmin's Goryeo and one year in the past-past. But the fortune-teller is not that good so don't believe him."

Hahaha! That's what we get for taking that fortune-teller so seriously!

29. "Where did Son Yoo come from? Who is Son Yoo?"

Writer Song replied, "Answer is above."

30. "Please tell us what you think are the top three lines of dialogue?"

Writer Song replied, "Oh...this...it's like asking a actor, Tell us three things that you think are the prettiest about you.'"

At least she told us what she thought was Choi Young's best line.

31. a) "What was the story you had originally planned? (How is it different from the current one?)"

b) When did Young start loving Eun-soo?

c) "When you picked the name Yoo Eun-soo,' did you take heed of Choi Young's wife Yoo?"

Writer Song replied:

a) "The answer is too long. If I release a book, please read it."

b) "Because Young wasted time thinking, Why this person?', I do not know when he acknowledge his love for her to himself."

c) "Yes. Hehehe."

About Writer Song's answer to b, I always find it interesting the way characters seem to take on a life of their own despite being creations of writers and the way writers talk about the characters that they created as if they weren't the ones writing them up. There is definitely something magical about writing.

32. This fan is funny. She wrote that it seems it will take her a long time to gather together her broken heart. She wants to know how Writer Song will mend her own heart so she can do the same.

Writer Song replied, "I plan to play puzzle with the pieces of my heart for the time being."

Her answer is actually sad and funny at the same time. It's witty but if your heart was really left in pieces by this drama, like mine was, it's kind of sad. Actually, it's good advice. I think doing this Q&A is helping to piece my heart together again.

33. This fan asked what aspect of Young's character Writer Song paid most attention to while writing.

Writer Song replied, "Honesty. To himself and to others. (Every time Young was put into a crisis, I wanted to make him use a dirty and cowardly method to get out of it because it was hard writing him out of the situation. But I tried very hard to stay true his character.)

His honesty and straightforwardness what what we loved best about Choi Young, wasn't it? Thank you Writer Song for working so hard so give us a character that we can admire.

34. This question is a repeat question asking which aspect of Choi Young Writer Song wanted to show more.

Writer Song replied, "I wrote the answer above...Choi Young smiling. Being a heodang (basically someone who is smart/skilled 99% of the time but has moments of unexpected clumsiness/idiocy).

I really wished we saw more of heodang Choi Young but that would have been a very different drama, I think. Our serious and highly-skilled warrior making mistakes and/or stumbling over himself. I would have laughed out loud like crazy. Kind of like when we saw in the episode 7 BTS clip of Lee Minho stumbling as he heroically walked out the door.

35. This question basically asked when was the first time Eun-soo time-traveled. This person thought that Eun-soo had traveled many times before. She wrote, "It wasn't when she was kidnapped in modern time...so why did she not recognize Choi Young?"

Another person replied to the question. She wrote, "The first time was when Choi Young kidnapped her. She saw him for the first time then and vice versa. After being pushed through the portal by Ki Chul, she time-traveled again to save Young but she ended up one-hundred years in the past. From there, in order to return to Choi Young, she left the relics and visited the portal everyday with an ardent desire, and with her earnest longing she opened the portal and came back to modern time. Because she came back to modern time instead of Choi Young's time, she time-traveled again. Finally, she returned to the time four years after they separated."

Writer Song replied that this person's answer is her answer.

So do you guys get the time-travel now? I think Writer Song is basically using the time loop device, which makes it hard to say that there is a first time or last time to Eun-soo's travels. My advice- don't think too hard about it. Time-travel never makes sense.

36. This fan found the Jeogwoldae story fascinating and was sorry it was so short. She wanted to know if Writer Song had any plans to develop the story into a film or book.

Writer Song replied that she was holding onto to the Jeogwoldae story, wanting to develop it into a movie scenario. But all she did was hold on to it instead of developing it.

Sounds like Writer Song was twiddling with a story like the Jeogwoldae story in Faith for a while and just ended up using it in the drama. It would have made a great drama or movie, me thinks, with a lot of action and emphasis on warrior-hood, loyalty, and sacrifice. Man, I would have devoured this if it came out as a drama.

37. Another question about Son Yoo. Writer Song replied that the answer is above.

38. This question is sort of a repeat question about the last relic. The poster wanted to know why Writer Song didn't reveal it until the end and why it was a projector.

Writer Song replied, "It's not the projector that I/she needed but the video of Eun-soo's parents. The original plan was to re-present Eun-soo's seminar room from episode 1 and show her take the projector from that room. Due to circumstances, we changed to the hospital and it kind of came out forced."

39. This is another repeat question about whether the scenes from the script that were not in the broadcasted version were not filmed due to circumstances, with Writer Song's approval, or whether they were filmed but edited out.

Writer Song replied, "The situation on the set was really difficult. The biggest reason was that my script was late and it was complicated. In order to process my script, there were somethings that were randomly taken out during filming. If I got a call from the set (that some part was difficult to film), I worked hard to adjust the script. (These changes appear on the script that you guys can find on this website.) The things that changed without my knowledge I have to see the broadcast to know. (These things I couldn't adjust and the scripts were uploaded on this website.)

40. This fan asked how similar the ending we saw was to the ending Writer Song had planned from the beginning and whether there was anything that she wanted but couldn't put in.

Writer Song replied, "The structure of the ending was something that I made when I was writing episode 1 so there was something for episode 24 that I asked to be filmed while they were filming episode 1. When I checked recently, it hadn't been filmed. (They had said they would film it later because they didn't have time then.) (It would have been good if this came out...It was a supplementary scene continued with everyone's favorite caped Choi Young in dry form."

So Writer Song continues to not clarify why Choi Young looking up in the sky is significant. Darn, darn, darn. I just can't figure out how this scene would have continued to be significant to the ending. Why did the director film it raining when there was no indication of it on the script? Did the writer want it to be raining and asked for a dry version? And what would be the significance of that difference for the timeline of this drama? Argh!

41. This fan asked a question which a lot of people asked- why some many skinship scenes were cut out. Was it because they were being considerate of Kim Hee-sun's husband who didn't like the skinship?

Writer Song replied, "Hehe. I'm curious about this too! We agreed to meet up after we have rested our tired body and hearts. I will ask them then!"

42. This person asked several questions, some which are repeats.

1) Did Eun-soo wait in front of the portal a hundred years in the past knowing when it will open?

2) Did Young heal by himself and wait for Eun-soo to keep his promise to live well?

3) Did Son Yoo time-travel? Which era did he come from?

4) Were Hwata's relics that were left to Ki Chul the things that Eun-soo left a hundred years in the past? Weren't Eun-soo carrying them in her bag when she went through the portal?

5) Was it your own decision to put in the character of Choi Young in "Faith"? It seems like the original plan for the drama changed a lot after Choi Young was put in the drama. I am wondering why you put in a real person in the drama.

Writer Song replied:

1) No. She waited not with calculations but with faith.

2) The aspirin bottle left by Eun-soo was a message for Choi Young and gave him hope to live again- The message being, "I'm alive. I am trying to get back to you."

5) I like the figures of Choi Young and King Gongmin from history. I always wanted to write about them..but I am repenting right now because I feel like I didn't do them justice.

43. This person wrote, "The fortune teller said that Eun-soo would go on a long journey for a year but time didn't pass at all in modern time. What did he mean?"

Writer Song replied, "This fortune teller is both right and wrong. Eun-soo was lost in the past-past for a year and then finally met Young again. So I can't really say anything..."

44. "I am assuming that the point when Choi Young wakes up is when Choong-jung dies. Am I right?"

Writer Song replied, "It's probably correct that the direct cause is Choong-jung's death."

45. This person is curious how the drama would have played out if Philip Lee did not get hurt.

Writer Song replied, "The Jang Bin character was different from original plans right from the beginning. I wanted to have Jang Bin teach Eun-soo about medicine as a teacher but after the so-and-so about plagiarism, the broadcast station displayed dislike toward medical episodes, etc. Due to several reasons, that storyline was greatly reduced. Personally, I am sad and upset about that.

Kudos for Philip Lee, who stuck with the drama despite the changes. I was actually looking forward to more of a medical storyline and was disappointed with how it seemed to disappear slowly from the drama. I'm guessing that they had created the Hwata animation way before and didn't want to waste it after they had to change the storyline of the drama. (I heard they spent three months on that animation.) Otherwise, they spent way too much time and effort building up the legend of Hwata's medical skills for it to not have any relevance in the drama later.

46. This fan wanted to know if there was anything that Writer Song just wanted to say to her viewers.

Writer Song replied that if she started talking, it would go on for three nights, four days, so she will pass on this question.

47. This person wanted to know what Writer Song was most regretful of (or feel the lack of) in "Faith," and if Writer Song had plans to unravel those regrets through a book or movie.

Writer Song replied, "Because I am getting encouragement to write a book, I am thinking of writing one. So far yesterday, I have written nine pages. It seems that I am sad (about the dearth) too.

Yay for the book actually coming out! I hope nothing goes wrong and she can publish it in December as planned.

Song Ji-na's "Faith" Q&A Part 4

48. Where did Manbo ahjusshi go?

Writer Song replied, "?? In the middle he said couldn't continue because of personal reasons."

49. Were there any aspects of Choi Young's role or character that Lee Min-ho personally asked you about or discussed with you?

Writer Song replied, "Before filming started, we met a couple of times to talk about the character. Because at that point about 6-8 scripts were out already, we discussed the dialogue in detail and went over the movements. We started filming after I adjusted Choi Young's parts to fit the actor.

50. Did Eun-soo really believe that Choi Young came to rescue her in episode 5 because he loved her?

Writer Song replied, "She probably tried hard to pass it off as a joke because if she just left it hanging, it would be awkward. At least that is how I imagine it."

51. This person wrote that she thinks the relationship between Choi Young and Hwasooin did not go as originally planned. It seems as if this storyline was entirely dropped. Is there anything that Writer Song regrets about this?

Writer Song replied, "There is a lot. Choi Young- Hwasooin- Chun Eumja. I thought this triangle would be fun but because of this and that, it was discarded.

52. This person wrote that she saw on the drama's official homepage, the background story of Choi Young and Dae-man's relationship and why the Woodalchi started to followed the leadership of young Choi Young. She was sad that this story did not appear in the drama. Was it because of lack of time?

Writer Song replied, "Hmm...At first, I planned to put in the back-story in the middle...But I had to quickly put it in the beginning after the first episode was edited and they told me that it wasn't long enough... But it was eventually made in a different manner...And after that, I didn't know how to continue it...so I gave up."

The way I understand it is that Writer Song didn't originally plan to show the back-story of Choi Young and the Woodalchi in the first episode. Then she wrote it into the script, like we saw in the script for episode one, because after the first episode was edited the production team realized it was shorter than the required hour. But eventually in the end, the episode aired without that full back-story anyway. That really sucks on all levels.

53. Another question about the necklace. Again Writer Song replied, "It's the first time I saw the necklace."

54. Another question about how long Choi Young waited, how long Eun-soo was in the past-past, and what the fortune-teller meant about the one year.

Writer Song replied, "Choi Young waited four years. Eun-soo was in the past-past for one year. When she first came to Goryeo, she was there around the same amount of time. So it seems the fortune-teller thought in his own terms that if Eun-soo went outside the door,' it would be a year."

So I guess Eun-soo was in Goryeo with Choi Young for about a year although to us, it seemed like only a couple of months. Wow, that is a long time.

55. How was the Choi Young character created?

Writer Song replied, "I set up the character, wrote the dialogue, and provide the situation, but it is the actor that really makes the character. Choi Young is someone Lee Min-ho created. ^^ So please ask this question to Lee Min-ho."

56. This person wrote that she is curious about the scene in episode 17 when Choi Young was pacing back and forth, telling his aunt that he doesn't know what he has to. What was his reason?

Writer Song replied, "The situation at that time was...Eun-soo had gone off by to do something by herself and Choi Young couldn't do work for Gongmin because he had lost his position as captain. This was the first time that Choi Young, who always lived his life protecting someone or something, didn't have something he had to do."

57. Was there any character that changed from what you originally planned? Which character did you not get the chance to write about the most?

Writer Song replied, "Ki Chul and his pledge siblings. I don't think I was able to write one-tenth of what I originally planned for them."

58. Did the director film everything according to the script or were there scenes that he didn't even shoot?

Writer Song replied, "??? I will buy lottery tickets. If I win and have money, I will go to the actors and ask them, "Will you shoot one more time?"

59. Will the DVD come out?

Writer Song replied, "I don't know anything about this. If it does, I want to own a set too."

60. Now that "Faith" has finished, what do you want to say to the actors?

Writer Song replied, "You've worked hard. Thank you. I'm sorry."

Faith Cast

61. What did you truthfully think when you saw an episode that was different from the script's intention?

Writer Song replied, "I wanted to die."

62. This person asked if Writer Song expected such a strong reaction from female fans for the scene in which Choi Young wipes his blood off before seeing Eun-soo during his rescue from Ki Chul's house.

Writer Song replied, "While I was writing that scene, I was deep into Choi Young's character so unconsciously, I wiped the blood off. I found out later that the reaction to that scene was good because that scene came out in every music video I was introduced too."

63. This person asked if the writer and director discussed the scenes that were left out from the script.

Writer Song replied, "My script was very late and the situation on the set was difficult."

64. This person asked if Writer Song will write the things that she couldn't show in the drama into the book.

Writer Song replied, "I want to!"

65. Which Choi Young was most like Choi Young? Writer Song's Choi Young or Lee Min-ho's Choi Young?

Writer Song replied, "The Choi Young I thought about...hmmm, I don't even remember it anymore. ??"

66. What would Jang Bin's role have been if he didn't have to exit the drama?

Writer Song replied, "Jang Bin would have the been the one to suggest to Eun-soo to treat poison with poison."

This is interesting because what aired was Jang Bin wrote in his notebook that he would not suggest this to Eun-soo. I guess Writer Song had to write Jang Bin's character in this way to save time and give more gravity to the situation without him actually being there.

67. This person wrote she was so sad about the ending scene because the epilogue that was in the script did not come out. Did Writer Song know? She should have strongly argued to have it put in.

Writer Song replied that she was sad about this too.

68. This person was curious about Eun-soo's line in episode 16 when she confessed to Jang Bin that her heart just couldn't love. What were Eun-soo's feelings then? Did her heart not open not because she knew she had to leave but because the person she will love was Choi Young of Goryeo?

Writer Song replied, "I considered episode 8 and 16 as the episodes when the season changes. So I thought that in episode 16, Eun-soo should properly admit to her feelings. But because the dialogue was incoherent and there was self-division, I screwed this up. I need to study more on how to write precise dialogue."

What Writer Song means when she writes "season" is the next act in the story. So the first act of the drama was about Choi Young waking up to become a proper warrior again. In episode 8 he does that. I think the second act was about Choi Young starting to love Eun-soo. The final act should have been about Eun-soo's feelings and story, as Writer Song mentioned in a previous question, so episode 16 would have started that final part with Eun-soo admitting her feelings for Choi Young.

69. Another question about the third relic. Writer Song replied that she answered it already in other questions.

70. Until when did "Faith" film up to?

Writer Song replied, "I think they filmed up to Tuesday. I got a text message after they finished filming. The director and the staff were like zombies. I felt sorry..."

Yeah, I heard the news that they were filming even on the day the final episode was supposed to air. Goodness, the live-shooting system in Korea sucks. I wonder if that is why we got so many flashback scenes, to fill up the time for the scenes that they couldn't film.

To be continued in Part 5. Yeah, Writer Song answered a lot more than fifty questions.

Screencapping takes up so much time but sometimes it is the perfect excuse to watch more of Lee Min-ho's face and rewatch Faith. :D

Song Ji-na's "Faith" Q&A Part 5

71. This question was about how Writer Song felt about the low ratings and wondered if the story changed from what she planned in the beginning. She also asked how Writer Song felt after she watched the show.

Writer Song replied, "Hmm...I am first sorry to the actors when the ratings are bad. I also worry that the staff will lose their morale. You're right; it is "menboong" (a Korean neologism for "mental breakdown," depicting a state of mind in which one feels overwhelmed, shocked, and/or panicked to be point of being unable to speak or act in response). Rather than saying that I changed the story because of the ratings, I had to change a lot of things because I found out about the different production situation after the show started airing. My mindset was at that point, "The show at least needs to air."

Truthfully, I still don't know. I don't know if it was professional of me to accept all that so the drama can air or if it was unfitting for a craftsman at my level.

Still, there was something I needed to do despite whatever reason and that is writing the script, and truth be told, the writing was affected. I have no excuse. I didn't have enough skills to find the best solution in any type of situation. I am bemoaning the fact that it seems I have exchanged my age for candy."

72. This person asked about the epilogue scenes from the episode 24 script that I wrote about before in the first part of this series because she didn't get the significance of those scenes. I won't translate Writer Song's whole response because she answered this question already. I will just add the she described the epilogue scene here again as, "A day when it's not raining, Choi Young wearing his cape, escorting the royals to Goryeo."

I previously thought maybe Writer Song was trying to hint at another timeline caused by Eun-soo's travel to the past-past with this scene of a rainless day, as opposed to the rainy day portrayed in the episode. But now I am thinking it was just another day on the road of the same journey in the same timeline as episode 1, with no special meaning to fact that it didn't rain. Need novel now for clarification!

73. This person asked where Writer Song got her inspiration for Choi Young's character. She also asked why Eun-soo was always so "bright." This type of character is not very popular these days and she thought that if Eun-soo had been a bit more calm and serious, the viewers would have responded more positively.

Writer Song replied that foundation of Choi Young's character was written as a man she would like to meet at least once in her life. The full character was completed by Lee Minho. As for Eun-soo, Writer Song wrote, "I like her. If she was calm and serious, the combination of her and Choi Young would have been too heavy."

74. This person asked if the story kept on the same track Writer Song had planned from the beginning. Writer Song replied that from episode 1-8, the scripts were written as she first planned but for rest, she doesn't really know. She will try to figure that out.

75. This person asked about the scene in episode 16 when Young said to Dae-man that Eun-soo "has no heart." She didn't really understand the meaning of that dialogue.

Writer Song explains, "Choi Young wanted to grumble at least once. His character is not light enough to say, She doesn't have any heart towards me,' so I thought he would express his feelings as She doesn't have any plans to stay here.'"

76. This person asked if Writer Song saw a scene when she thought, "I made this character but Choi Young is very handsome in this scene!"

Writer Song wrote, "His eyes when he is looking at a woman...As a writer, if you get this type of actor, you have gotten a good deal."

Yes, that is something that Lee Minho excels at. I particularly saw it in this scene.

77. "How did Ki Chul's teacher obtain Eun-soo's things?"

Writer Song replied, "Hmm, how did he? He probably stole them from someone. (In the initial plans [for the drama], the teacher appeared. But [eventually]...he was left out.)"

78. Question asked if there are plans for a movie version. Writer Song replied, "If someone makes it, I really want to see too."

79. This person was sad that the last hug scene in the script was not put in the broadcasted version. She asked if there was any particular reason for this scene being cut out because she heard rumors about Kim Hee-sun's husband not liking it.

Writer Song replied, "That's not likely. Kim Hee-sun and her husband are not like that. They probably decided at the location that the emotions were not suited for a hug. It's because the mood on the set can be different from the writing. The emotions present on location are correct most of the time.

That's about it. Explains a lot doesn't it? 😃

I remember reading theQ & As and script tidbits from joonni.com when the show was still airing (will re-read the ones posted here😳). I used to stalk this site, soompi and other places for any info or discussion.😆 The fandom was small for this show but the English speaking fandom was a very dedicated one.

Faith's soompi forum has over 4000 pages. If I am not wrong it's the only show that has crossed 4000 pages, I have seen some other shows only crossing 1000 or 2000 pgs.

Somehow I missed reading this tidbit when it came out, so thanks for posting.😳 I wish all these forehead/hair kissing scenes were included.

episode 24 tidbits:

Modified scene post-fight: ES is supposed to walk in on CY after he stabs CEJ. CY looks at her, but tears his gaze away to look for GC. After he opens the door that GC had gone through before, he turns around to look at ES. He opens his mouth but words don't come out. ES walks and stands right in front of him. He looks her over, and with a trembling hand, pushes her hair back. With a trembling heart. After he asks her if she can finally stay with him, he drops his sword. He pulls her in and kisses her. This is what he has wanted and waited for so long.

I went crazy when I first heard that there was supposed to be a kiss in the final ep, and in this moment it would have been so perfect. Just imagine what a desperate and full of emotion kiss it would have been.😭😆 Anyway, I quite liked the desperate hug that we got in the place of the kiss, so can't complain.😆
