Sonu Nigam ... Udit and kumar sanu were crooners for sad romantic filmy songs only they never sang out of their comfort zone . Spb and hariharan had classical base but they could not sang songs of different genre. Sonu have proved himself by singing and complimenting various musical genres which others cant ... Sonu outshined SPB in a song Jaa Re Jaa Ae Hawa Shor Na Macha Pholoon Ko Aarahe Nindiya 90's rehman song

In terms of versatility it's Sonu Nigam.

He does excellent in romance, songs about life, sad songs, party tunes, basically anything.

Udit + Kumar mostly stuck to romance, but that's because in the 90s that's what was required. I'm sure they would be able to do well in other moods of song too if given the opportunity.
