Chapter 42

Rahul and maanvi were in studio. Rahul looks around and notices that payal is missing from the studio since the meeting ended.

Rahul~ "Maanvi... payal kahan gayi hai?

Maanvi~ "Payal to keh kar gayi hai ki usse apni kisi friend se milne jana hai. Wo wahan se ghar aa jayegi."

Rahul~ "Theek hai."

Twinkle~ "Rahul sir, aapne jaisa kaha tha waise sab ko keh diya hai. Kal morning mein aap aur maanvi ji recording start kar sakte hain."

Rahul~ "Thanks twinkle. Chorus team se confirmation le liya hai na? Unse rehearsals karwa lena jis-se recording mein koi problem na ho."

Twinkle~ "Yes sir. Wo sab maine chorus team se keh diya hai. Aap dono jab aayenge tab sab ready hoga. I will personally make sure of it."

After twinkle left, rahul looked at maanvi. Maanvi noticed him staring so she asked in sign what is he planning now?

Rahul asked her if she would like to go out for a coffee. Maanvi agreed as she herself was feeling little tired. They both headed to the coffee house as it was not far from the studio.

Rahul and maanvi made their way in the coffee house. For sure there were lot of rahul's fans who instantly swarmed around them. The sudden commotion even got payal's attention.

Payal surprised "Rahul maanvi...!"

Vikas noted the surprise and asked "You seem surprised seeing them here. Did you lie to them about meeting me here?"

Payal~ "Why would you think that? I dont need to lie to anyone."

Vikas~ "Hmmm... but you sound guilty."

Payal~ "What are you... a detective now?"

Vikas~ "Not detective... just curious why would you lie to them to come to meet me here."

Payal~ "You wanted to talk to me that is why we are here. But if this is what you want to talk about... i guess i should leave."

Vikas~ "No... please stay. I was only kidding."

That was enough time for rahul maanvi to notice payal sitting with vikas near the corner. The couple made their way to payal.

Rahul~ "Payal... tum yahan?" He questioned her and then looked at vikas "Hi buddy. What a surprise, i didnt expect to find you here."

Vikas looked at payal once and decided to cover for her. "I was just passing by and saw payal sitting here all by herself. She said she was waiting for her friend, so i decided to keep her some company while her friend arrives. Apparently her friend is a no show."

Payal~ "Yeah. Guess she is a no show. This is not the first time she stood me up like this. By the way... what are your plans now?"

Rahul~ "Maanvi and i were planning to grab a coffee and then head back home."

Vikas~ "If you two dont mind... why not join us? We can catch up as well while we all enjoy a cup of coffee."

Rahul~ "That's a great idea." Rahul signals the waiter to get their order. Payal, rahul and maanvi ordered cappuccino while vikas ordered an espresso. Few minutes later their order was served. When rahul was taking a sip of his coffee, he got some of the cream over his lips. Maanvi noticed it first and then payal and vikas. Maanvi pointed that rahul got cream on his face. Rahul thinking that if he don't clean it himself, maanvi will have to do it. So, he acted to miss the place where cream was there and cleaned up around it. Maanvi offered to clean it up for him.

Rahul lean forward to let maanvi clean up the cream on his face. When rahul-maanvi's eyes made contact, maanvi blushed a little as she realized how many eyes were on them right now. Song "Aankhein coffee peete peete mil rahi hai" plays in background. Maanvi wipes the cream off of rahul's face. Now that cream was on her hand. Vikas was quicker to offer a napkin to maanvi to wipe her hand with. Once maanvi wiped her hand, rahul extended his hand to maanvi in a gesture to ask for a dance. Maanvi accepted it gladly.

Rahul and maanvi dance on the floor as the song "coffee peete peete" continues. Payal looking at rahul-maanvi lose into a daydream where she and vikas dance in place of rahul-maanvi. When song ends, whole place is lightened by applause from other people in the coffee house. The sound of cheering brings payal out of her daydream as rahul-maanvi comes back to their table. Payal, vikas, rahul and maanvi finish off their coffee and leaves for their respective destinations.

Payal goes in her car with the driver, back to sabarwal mansion. Vikas leaves for his home. Rahul maanvi had planned to visit chatergee residence before heading home. Rahul maanvi were in the car making their way to meet maanvi's parents.

Maanvi~ "Rahul..."

Rahul replied in "hmm".

Maanvi~ "Tumne cream jaan-bujh kar lagayi thi na?"

Rahul~ "Nahi, bilkul nahi. Galti se lag gayi thi."

Maanvi~ "Acha ji! To mujhe aisa kyun laga ki tum jaan-bujh kar sabke saamne maje lene ke liye wo sab kar rahe the?"

Rahul~ "Mujhe kaise pata hoga ki tumhe aisa kyun laga?"

Maanvi~ "Kyunki tum acting kar rahe the ki tumhe nahi pata ki tumhare face par cream kahan lagi hai."

Rahul~ "Mujhe lagta hai ki tumhe mujh par bina wajah bas shak karne ki aadat ho gayi hai. Tum humesha yahi sochti ho ki main yeh sab harkatein jaan-bujh kar karta hoon. Par Mrs. Maanvi sabarwal, aisa nahi hai. Mere saath yeh sab apne aap ho jaata hai."

Maanvi~ "Mr. Rahul sabarwal, tum aur main yeh baat ache se jaante hain ki tum itne bhi innocent nahi ho. Jab bhi tumhe mauka mila hai, tumne uska poora fayda uthaya hai."

Rahul~ "To? Apni wife ke saath hi to romance kar raha hoon... kisi aur ke saath thodi hi na main romance kar raha hoon. Apni biwi ke saath romance karna galat to nahi hai."

Maanvi~ "Haan to maine kab kaha ki galat hai. Main to bas yeh keh rahi hoon ki tum bahane dhoondte ho romance karne ke."

Rahul~ "To tumhe iss baat se problem hai ki main bahane dhoondta hoon?"

Maanvi~ "Nahi mujhe problem nahi hai..."

Rahul~ "To phir iss complaints ka reason kya hai?"

Maanvi~ "Kyunki..." she hesitates.

Rahul~ "Kyunki kya?"

Maanvi~ "Kyunki tum... tum... tum zara bhi apne aas-pass nahi dekhte ho aur sab ke saamne shuru ho jate ho. Aise sabke saamne bhi koi romance karta hai kya?"

Rahul grins "Oh, to Mrs. Maanvi sabarwal ko dusron ke saamne romance karne mein problem hai. Akele mein aapko romance karna chalega?"

Maanvi understood the hidden meaning behind his comment. She looks at him with a where do you take the conversations to' look.

Rahul continues "Maanvi ji, wo kya hai na... ab aapko aadat dal leni chahiye."

Maanvi~ "Kaisi aadat?"

Rahul~ "Publicly romance karne ki aadat..."

Maanvi~ "Nahi, bulkul nahi. Tumhara dimag kharab hai? Mujhe nahi dalni aisi aadat."

Rahul~ "Soch lo, aadat to tumko dalni padegi..." he replies in a mystery tone.

Maanvi~ "Kyun dalni padegi?" her tone taking on the confused note.

Rahul~ "Wo kya hai na, jald hi tum aur main video shoot ke liye practice start karenge. Tumhare aur mere albums ke songs ke video puri duniya dekhegi. Ab romantic songs par romance hi to shoot hoga. Phir live performances bhi hongi. To sabke saamne romance karne ki aadat to tumko dalni padegi."

Maanvi face color changed shades between pink and pale. She had never thought that she would have to not only be a part of romantic videos but she would also have to perform live in front of all of his fans.

Rahul~ "Isliye tumko mera suggestion hai ki tum abhi se aadat dal lo."

Maanvi~ "Kya iss sab ki zaroorat hai?" her tone changed to worry.

Rahul~ "Matlab? Tumne mere purane songs ke video dekhe honge, bas uss hi tarah se yeh videos bhi banenge. Fark sirf itna hoga ki wo songs itne dil ke karib se nahi the, par jab se main tumse mila hoon tab se mera har gaana mere dil ke bahaut karib hai. Aur in gaano ke liye nothing but the best performance hi hogi. Tumhare saath to yeh videos aur bhi best ho jayenge."

Maanvi's face turns red thinking of herself in the old videos that rahul had on his romantic tracks. "Par..." she still wanted to know if she could find an easier way.

Rahul~ "Iss sabse bachne ka koi rasta nahi hai maanvi ji, aapne already contract sign kiya hai. Aur tum mere saath hi to hogi, kisi aur ke saath nahi. Par agar tumko phir bhi problem hai to theek hai, main producers se baat karunga kisi aur ke saath video banane ke liye..." he said it nice and slowly stressing over last part.

Maanvi~ "Kya kaha? Tum kisi aur ke saath romantic video banaoge? Tumne aisa socha bhi kaise ki tum kisi aur ke saath video mein kaam karoge? Koi zaroorat nahi hai kisi aur ke saath video karne ki. Agar tumne dubara aisa kaha... ya socha bhi na, to mujhse bura koi nahi hoga Mr. Rahul sabarwal!" she may have been feeling awkward about performing on a romantic scene with rahul in front of everyone but the thought that rahul might perform on a romantic scene with someone else was something she would never let that happen. For maanvi, that was a right that she and only she had claim to.

Rahul couldn't help but smile hearing maanvi say what she just said. He himself knows it well that he can never do any more videos in which he will have to perform a romantic scene with someone other than maanvi. The love they share is pure and unpretended... just like the songs they perform on and any video that they have to pretend in, is a taint on those songs. It is only suited that the song is performed by the people and with the people it actually is meant for. Thus, the new videos will be made with rahul-maanvi only.

Payal reach home and she finds out that everyone is out. She goes to kitchen and finds chotu to inquire the whereabouts of the rest of the family.

Payal~ "Chotu, ghar par koi nahi hai kya?"

Chotu~ "Payal didi, Sonali ma'am aur dadi ji kisi kaam se bahar gaye hain. Dada ji kisi sur-sangeet program mein gaye hain. Raj sir aur Shaleen bhaiya to abhi tak office se aaye nahi hai. Nisha bhabhi apni friend ke ghar gayi hai. Rahul bhaiya aur maanvi bhabhi bhi abhi ghar nahi aaye hain. Nikhil baba apne kamre mein hain, unke liye hi yeh nashta lekar jaana hai."

Payal~ "Theek hai. Main bhi Nikhil ke hi kamre mein hoon, aap mere liye bhi nashta wahin par le aiyega." She tells him and goes to nikhil's room.

Nikhil was playing video-game since it was his summer vacation after his main exams. And his other friends were all out of town, this was his usual pass time apart from the diet-exercise-routine plan rahul gave him. Payal enters and Nikhil invites her to join for a match, as solo gaming get boring after a while. Payal gladly accepted his invite and sat next to him with another controller. Chotu brought in some snacks for them and they enjoyed their rest of the evening.

Chapter 43

Rahul and maanvi reach the chatergee residence. Rahul notices his mom's car in the alley. He gets little surprised as Sonali said nothing about visiting maanvi's parents. Rahul maanvi gets to the chatergee house enterance. Inside Sonali, dadi ji, shilpa and upamanyu were having a light-hearted discussion.

Dadi ji~ "To phir tum sab ko aana hai. Iss bahane dono parivar, rahul-maanvi ki shadi ke baad pehli bar ek saath bhi honge aur choti si rasam bhi ho jayegi."

Sonali~ "Mommy ji bilkul sahi keh rahi hain. Tab sab kuch jaisa bhi hua ho, par dono parivar ke liye yeh choti si rasam to sirf bahana hai, yeh zaroori hai ki hum sab ek saath ho."

Upu~ "Ab hum kaise mana kar sakta hai. Aap jaisa kahenge waisa hi hoga."

Rahul~ "Mom, dadi... aapne bataya nahi ki aap bhi yahan aa rahe hain. Aur kya batein ho rahi hain aap sab mein?" he spoke as he and maanvi enter the chatergee residence.

Rahul greeted his in-laws and sat on the empty chair next to Sonali.

Dadi ji~ "Puttar, tujhe yaad hai na ki Sonali aur main kuch din pehle maanvi ki godh-bharayi ki baat kar rahe the... Bas uss hi bahane se dono parivar ek saath pehli baar milenge tum dono ki shadi ke baad se."

Sonali~ "Waise to yeh rasam kuch samay baad hoti hai par abhi hum sirf family members hi honge. Rasam ki rasam aur families ka get-together bhi."

Rahul~ "That is a brilliant plan! Kyun maanvi?" he looked up to notice maanvi still trying to grasp the situation that was brewing up.

Maanvi was well aware of the hate her father has for raj as she grew up seeing it all her life. At some point, Upamanyu's hate has also made it difficult for maanvi to accept rahul as a kind hearted person he really is. But time turned out to be the better judge of the character for maanvi and she was able to see the true self of rahul, towards whom she had felt the feelings unknowingly.

Rahul~ "Maanvi..."

Maanvi~ "Huh?... Haan, bahaut hi acha plan hai."

Dadi ji~ "To phir iss shanivar... 4 din baad hum maanvi ki godh bharai karenge. Tum teeno ko humare ghar aana hai."

Shilpa~ "Par itni jaldi...?"

Sonali~ "Arre samdhan ji, aap tension mat lijiye. Yeh godh bharayi to sirf bahana hai. Hai to yeh ek tarah se family get-together. Dono parivar saath mein baith sakenge, bas aur kya."

Dadi ji~ "Jyada pareshan hone ki zaroorat nahi hai, hum sab sambhal lenge. Tum bas aa jaana."

Upamanyu and shilpa agreed. With few more details set up for the family get-together, Sonali and dadi ji gets ready to leave.

Rahul~ "Mom, aap dono chaliye. Main aur maanvi aapke peeche peeche ghar pahauch jayenge thodi der mein."

Sonali understood that rahul and maanvi will probably prefer to take longer route back home so she gave them permission.

Sonali~ "Theek hai beta par time se ghar aa jaana, zyada late mat karna. Aaj dinner mein maanvi ki favourite dishes banwayi hai."

Rahul teased her "Kya baat hai, aaj kal bahu ki badi fikar rehti hai. Mera koi khayal karta hi nahi hai."

Dadi ji in her cupid ever tone and at perfect timing "Tera khayal rakhne ke liye hai na teri biwi jise tu sara din satata rehta hai. Jab tujhe apni biwi ko satane se time milega tab to tu uska kuch khayal rakhega. Ab tu nahi rakhta isliye mujhe aur Sonali ko maanvi ka khayal rakhna padta hai."

Rahul~ "Dadi this is not fair! Main maanvi ka aap sabse jyada khayal rakhta hoon. Chahe to maanvi se abhi pooch lo." Then he turns around to locate maanvi who was talking with shilpa. "Maanvi!" Rahul calls her. "Batao maa aur dadi ko ki sabse jyada khayal kaun rakhta hai tumhara."

Maanvi smiles wondering who should she take side with; rahul aur Sonali-dadi ji. To tease rahul she replied in innocent tone "Ofcourse mommy and dadi ji. Par achanak tum yeh kyun pooch rahe ho?"

Rahul~ "Acha ji! Main tumhara khayal nahi rakhta?!"

Maanvi~ "Mujhse ladne se fursat milegi tab to mera khayal rakhoge na. Par tum to har samay ladne ke bahane dhoond hi lete ho jaise ki abhi."

Rahul wanted to reply back but he stayed quiet. He thought to himself "Main ladta hoon? To theek hai. Jab akele mein milogi tab batata hoon ki kaun ladta hai aur kaun pareshan karta hai. Mujhse dur to tum reh nahi sakti, aur jab hum dono akele honge tab aisa sabak sikhaonga ki dobara mujhe ladaku kabhi nahi kahegi. Bahaut chedliya tumne mujhe maanvi, ab meri baari."

Soon all four of them took their leave from chatergee residence and started to head back to sabarwal mansion. Rahul maanvi went by the longer route.

Maanvi noticed rahul being overly quiet than usual. So she inquired "Rahul, tum bahaut chup - chup ho. Kya mere mazak se chid gaye?"

Rahul only glanced at her once but didn't respond.

Maanvi~ "Main to bas yoon hi Mazak kar rahi thi jaisa ki tum mere saath karte rehte ho. Ab iss mein itna muh fullane ki zaroorat to nahi hai."

Rahul still didn't say anything. He thought "Manao manao... aur manane ki koshish karo."

Maanvi~ "Pati patni ke beech mein thodi si chedkhani to hoti rehti hai, iss ka yeh matlab thodi hi na hai ki tum mujhse baat bhi nahi karoge."

Rahul thought again controlling his urge to reply back "Thoda sa aur manao maanvi. Mujhe cheda hai to thoda sa haq to mera bhi banta hai tumhe chedne ka."

Maanvi~ "Theek hai to mat baat karo. Main bhi tumse baat nahi karoongi. Jab meri aawaz sunne ko nahi milegi na, tab tumko pata chalega ki kaisa lagta hai!"

Rahul~ "Par tum hi to keh rahi thi ki main tumse ladta rehta hoon. Ab yeh ladai kaun kar raha hai? Main to chup-chap gaadi chalane par dhyan de raha hoon par tumko uss mein bhi problem hai. Agar mera dhyan idhar-udhar ho gaya aur gaadi ka accident ho gaya to phir tum mujhko tana marogi ki mujhe kuch bhi theek se karna nahi aata."

Maanvi~ "Rahul, tum humesha to gaadi chalate samay baat kar karte rehte ho. Phir aaj baat karne mein tumhara dhyan bhatak jaayega?" she tried to trap him down in his own comments.

Rahul~ "Wo to main tab baat karta hoon jab traffic nahi hota hai. Abhi road par itna traffic hai ki mujhe gaadi chalate waqt concentrate karna pad raha hai."

Maanvi~ "Oh to isliye aap mujhse baat nahi kar rahe the?"

Rahul~ "Yahi baat hai. Nahi to meri itni majaal ki main aapki baat ko nazar-andaaz karoon? Bilkul nahi!"

Maanvi~ "Acha ji?"

Rahul~ "Haan ji."

They had some more light hearted conversations before they finally reached back to sabarwal mansion. By the time they reached home, there was a complete different drama going on between payal and Nikhil.

Payal was running around the dinning table trying to escape Nikhil.

Nikhil~ "Payal di... aap cheating kar rahe ho. Aapne mujhe round mein cheating se haraya hai!"

Payal~ "Maine koi cheating nahi ki hai Nikhil! Tumko hi khelna nahi aata hai."

Nikhil~ "Nahi! Aap cheating kar ke jeete ho. Main iss game ka best player hoon, mere saare friends bhi mujhko nahi haraa paate. Aapne zaroor cheating ki hai."

Payal~ "Tum best player hoge apne friends ke saath, par main iss game ki champion hoon."

Nikhil~ "Aap jhoot bol rahe ho. Aapne kuch trick use kit hi jiss se aap jeet gaye. Isliye aapne cheating ki hai."

Payal~ "Agar tumko wo trick nahi aati to iss mein meri galti nahi hai. Tricks use karna koi cheating nahi hoti hai."

Sonali and dadi ji were first to made it back home by then and they came to dinning hall to find payal and Nikhil arguing and running around the table.

Sonali~ "Yeh sab kya ho raha hai?!" she called them out in an angry tone. "Tum dono thodi der bhi shanti se nahi reh sakte kya? Sab log ghar se bahar kya gaye, tum dono ne pura ghar sar pe utha liya hai."

Nikhil~ "Mom, yeh sab payal di ki galti hai. Wo game mein cheating kar rahi thi." He made puppy doll face to gain a little sympathy.

Payal in defensive tone "Nahi mausi ji! Ab mujhe ek trick aati thi jo Nikhil ko nahi maloom to iss mein meri koi fault nahi hai. Par Nikhil to mujhe cheater bulane mein laga hua hai. Main cheater nahi hoon."

Sonali~ "Enough! Tum dono lad to aise rahe ho jaise ki yeh koi jung ka maidan ho. Ek game ke peeche itna drama? Agar tum shanti se game nahi khel sakte to aaj se... balki abhi se tumhara video game khelna band! Samjhe tum dono?"

Nikhil and payal forgot their quarrel right then and there and reached to a momentary truce. If it were up to Sonali, they will not see the video gaming consol for the rest of the vacations. But they both tried to convince Sonali in unison, that they will not have any more arguments over it so they can keep the consol with them.

Sonali may have taken her punishment back but she still looked at the two of them with suspicious eyes. Payal and Nikhil made their way back to nikhil's room quietly. Rahul and maanvi enters the hallway right then to find Nikhil and payal running back upstairs. Rahul finds Sonali and inquires about it.

Rahul~ "Mom, yeh payal aur Nikhil aise kyun bhag kar gaye?"

Sonali~ "Dono ke beech mein video game ko lekar kuch behais ho rahi thi. Maine dono ko video game na khelne dene ki dhamki di to aapni saari ladayi bhool kar aise bhag kar gaye."

Rahul maanvi sonali and dadi ji shared a good laugh over it. Then they all headed back to their room. Rahul maanvi got back to their room and few minutes later they had someone knock on the door. Rahul opened the door to find Nikhil and payal standing with their controllers in their hands.

Rahul~ "Ab kaun sa naya drama karna hai tum dono ne ek game ke peeche?"

Nikhil~ "Koi drama nahi hai. Hum sirf yeh poochne aaye hain ki kya game tricks use karna cheating hai ya nahi?"

Payal~ "Har game mein tricks hoti hai. Agar kisi ko nahi maloom to uss mein dusare player ki galti thodi hi na hai!"

Maanvi heard it from behind rahul and spoke before rahul could reply "Agar cheating lagti hai to dono player re-match kar sakte hain. Par iss bar ya to players conditions fix karein ki koi tricks use nahi karenge... ya phir players aapni tricks ek dusare se pehle hi share karenge."

Rahul~ "Maanvi ki baat sahi hai. Tum dono conditions decide karke rematch karlo. Aapne aap faisala ho jayega."

Nikhil~ "Par kaise judge hoga ki kaun better player hai? Koi players par nazar rakhne ke liye bhi hona chahiye ki koi chupke se cheating na kare!"

Payal~ "Haan! Koi judge bhi hona chahiye ki cheating ho rahi hai ya nahi."

Rahul~ "Tum dono hi judge kyun nahi kar sakte? Kisi aur ko tumhare beech mein baithna zaroori hai kya? Game khelo tum dono aur dusare log bore ho?"

Nikhil~ "Aisa hai to bhai aap aur maanvi bhabhi kyun nahi join karte?"

Payal~ "Haan! Team challenge! Bada mazaa aayega!"

Rahul and maanvi were stunned by this sudden change. They didn't see this coming that payal and Nikhil will drag them to play along. At this time, it was hard to avoid not been dragged down for a video game match.

Rahul~ "Ok but... meri ek condition hai. Main aur maanvi ek team mein honge."

Nikhil and payal together "WHAT!"

Maanvi was just as surprised but she didn't show it. After a little argument, Nikhil and payal accepted rahul's condition and the four of them went to play the video game.
