So this week I saw both films again. Ram Leela on office desktop and today I saw Lootera in DD National.

While Ram Leela had more entertainment factor, and Lootera is in all honestly a slow movie which requires great patience to enjoy the theme properly. While technically I would rate Lootera better than Ram Leela which was a typical BW movie which banked on the popularity of its leading actor and that off screen hype made it a superhit movie. While Lootera was a brave movie which got misunderstood, unfortunately yet rightfully criticised for its slow pace and low tone and became a flop.

Now talking about the topic, Best Actress in my opinion should always go to the best Actress that year, and not the most popular actress of the year.
While Deepika did a fine job, Sonakshi really got into the role, she sported a simple look, a role which required her to express herself in a restricted and controlled manner, unlike Deepika whose, while still tough as there was always of being OTT, role are conventional, and gave her the freedom that little nitpick will not effect her. While Sonakshi had a role where even a small mistake would fail her.
While Deepika had a great year and I loved her in Chennai Express where she stole the show from someone like SRK, and also have a decent performance in BM, Sonakshi had a performance worthy of being associated with the adjective brilliant.

While it might be countered that Deepika made the movie Ram Leela such hit which might not have been possible if Sonakshi played Leela, but than give her BO award. Filmfare IMO should be given to best actor, and not the most popular actress. I know the award is about Popular Actress award, still if Sonakshi was competing, than the decision should have been made looking at their acting credentials and not whose movie made the most BO collection.
So what is your say??

Also vote discuss, do not fight.

Agree. Although Lootera needs great patience and full dedication when you are watching. It is not instantly engaging and if you miss a part or start from middle, you will never truly grasp its essence and understanding.

Lootera is a calm and poetic movie. Comparison isn't fair.
Deepika doesnt deserve FF for anything except CE so far.

YES YES YES.
even I was just watching Lootera again (was coming on DD National)

Sonakshi just owned Pakhi"s character.
From the vulnerable, pehla pehla pyaar hone waali ladki in the first half to the dejected, lifeless girl.
She emotes it so well.

The scene wherein she tells the doctor , "Jee kar kya karungi..ek din marna hi toh hai"' is heartbreaking.

And the way her eyes look at the tree outside her house.
My heart goes out for her.

P.S: Deepika deserved awards for PIKU but not for RL.

I remember Dp winning the awards that year for CE, not ram leela. But if you love sonakshi, she has multiple release this year, make sure you support her this year and forget what happen years ago. Dp did 4 important roles in that year while sona did one important role with multiple flower roles in that same year

By the way, I love how Dp without a release for almost 2 years will be keep compared to actresses who have multiple releases this year. Why can't we compare actresses who do have released this year 😉 😆

Well, Sonakshi shouldn't be too upset by that. Her not winning is a good thing.

They (awards in BW) don't recognize performances that are actually the finest of the year.

Sonakshi definitely deserved more recognition for Lootera. So did Ranveer.

Deepika in Chennai Express > Sonakshi in Lootera >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Deepika in Ram Leela
The win for CE was well deserving. DP's performance was a riot!
