Housefull 3 Aiming To Be Biggest Opener For Akshay Kumar

This week will see the release of the first big summer release of the year Housefull 3. It is probably also the first release of the year which has the potential to do well over. The other big release Fan looked for a limited market though managed a good start due to the presence of Shahrukh Khan and a partial holiday.
The Housefull brand has done well till date with Housefull collecting 72 crore nett in 2010 and Housefull 2 giving a healthy improvement of 55% with business of 112 crore nett in 2012. The big test is now for Housefull 3 to improve further.
The first target for Housefull 3 will be a record for an Akshay Kumar starrer which was Singh Is Bling released last year at 16.75 crore nett. It was released on a national holiday but Housefull 3 has a chance to beat it. The highest Akshay Kumar non holiday opener is Rowdy Rathore at 14 crore nett which was released exactly four years ago and it will be a must for Housefull 3 to beat this number.
The film has brand value and a big star as the pluses but the comedy genre has really struggled for big numbers over the last few years with Ready in 2011 still the top comedy grosser despite being released five years back.
