I killed her.
Zoya walked towards the lifeless body of Tanveer. Her forehead was covered with blood and she had her eyes wide open.
"I..I..killed her!" She was completely distraught. She hadn't planned to kill Tanveer. She hadn't planned to be like Tanveer.
"Somebody help me!" She shouted before collapsing on the ground where she cried while she was rocking herself back and forth. She looked at her hands and in her mind, these same words kept repeating.
'You're a murderer!'
Gafoor Siddiqui, being the first one who heard his daughter came running into this small place. He saw Tanveer and Zoya and understood everything.
"Zoya?" He said, brushing her shoulder.
Zoya looked at him frightened and she hid behind a desk. He walked to her and hugged her tightly.
"Calm down Zoya.." He whispered, kissing the top of her head.
"I killed her! I killed Tanveer! I didn't want to..It..It was an accident! The gun..It.." Zoya muttered and Gafoor felt powerless. He dragged Zoya out of the room and brought her to her room. Asad was already here with Haider.
"What's happening? What are you doing with my wife?" Asad asked while Haider was glaring at Gafoor.
"Please, give her something to sleep then we'll talk outside." Siddiqui ordered and when Zoya was fast asleep, they left the room. Siddiqui led them to the place where was Tanveer's body and he showed them the lifeless corpse.
"Zoya accidentally killed Tanveer. I don't know yet what happened between the two of them for Zoya to kill her but it actually happened."
"You're lying! I'm sure that you're the one who killed Tanveer." Asad said.
"That's what I want you to say to the police once they'll come there. I want you to say that I was arguing with Tanveer and in a moment of pure anger I shot her to death. Zoya's name won't have to be in this story. To all of you here, Zoya was sleeping and you were the only one awake at this moment." Gafoor said. Haider looked at him surprised while Asad was taken aback.
"Why do you want to cover Zoya?" Haider asked.
"Because it was an accident. She has a full life to live. It's time for me to pay for my sins Haider. It's time for me to pay for taking away your parents from you, it's time for me to do something for my daughter Zoya." Siddiqui revealed. "Please don't say to Zoya that I am her father because she will have to know that I covered Raziya when she killed her mother and I don't want her to live knowing this. It will be too painful for her." Siddiqui said and then he looked at Tanveer.
"It's time for the both of us to pay for our sins. You paid for your sins by being killed, I'll pay for mine by saving my daughter." Siddiqui added then he got out of the room. He walked to Humeira's room and kissed her forehead.
"Humeira, I want you to be strong okay? It's for your abbu to pay for every bad thing I did to you and your sister Zoya." He said and Humeira looked at him as if he was crazy.
"Just believe in Haider. He was cruel with you because of me but I'm sure that deep inside he loves you." He kissed her forehead and left.
"I'm ready Asad." Gafoor said. "Let's go to the police." He was ready to go but Asad stopped him.
"What are you doing Mr Siddiqui?" He asked.
"I'm giving my liberty to my daughter. Please protect her Asad. She's in a moment of her life where she needs you. Protect her and give her the love she needs. The love that I couldn't give to her during these past years." He said and walked to the front door. Asad walked with him.
"Gafoor? Where are you going?" Raziya asked.
"I'm going to the police. It's over Raziya. And you should do the same thing. We're done Raziya. Asad knows about you killing Zainab Farooqui 17 years ago and I won't let any of my crimes unpunished." Gafoor said and left with Asad.
They were all deep in thoughts. Asad was thinking if what he was doing was right, Gafoor thought that for the first time, he will do something for his daughter Zoya while Haider still couldn't believe that the man he hated for 17 years was now saving his chutki.
Gafoor told to the police all the crimes he had done with Raziya, he told them how he killed Tanveer, how he covered his wife when she killed Zainab Farooqui, how he covered her when she hired a man to kill Dilshad...Every crime of Gafoor Ahmed Siddiqui was now exposed. Gafoor was put to jail and Asad and Haider left.
"I think that we should tell the police about Zoya being the murderer of Tanveer." Asad said out of sudden.
"Are you crazy? She'll go to jail! Plus it was an accident! Chutki didn't want to kill Tanveer! We know this Asad! We know her but the police doesn't! They will put her to jail!" Haider argued.
They stopped talking as they entered the house.
"Asad! Please! Hurry up! Zoya! She's getting crazy!" Dilshad said and Asad ran to their room. His Zoya was crying and rocking herself back and forth on the floor.
Asad came to her and he wanted to hug her but she pushed him away.
"No! I'm a murderer! My hands are covered with blood! Don't touch me Mr Khan!" She sobbed.
Asad tried to hug her but Zoya pushed him away once again.
"Mrs Khan, please!" He forced her into a hug. She cried on his shoulder and he rocked her to sleep.
"Asad? What's wrong with Zoya?" Dilshad asked.
"Ammi, Zoya...Zoya is the one who killed Tanveer. She didn't do this intentionally, it was an accident..Look at her! She's completely broken." Asad said and began crying. Why on earth wasn't he able to look after his Zoya! He knew that she would do anything to find her abbu and now this game she had settled with Tanveer ended up in the worst way possible. But it wasn't over yet..Zoya was shocked and Siddiqui was in jail.
Trial's day.
Asad was looking at Gafoor silently waiting for the lawyer to talk. Zoya was home with Dilshad. It had been 2 months already and she was still the same, not talking to anyone, crying all day and locking herself in her room all day long.
"I would like to call Mr Asad Ahmed Khan." The lawyer said and Asad got up to testimony.
"Can you please explain to us your vision of Tanveer's murder?" The lawyer said and Asad began.
"First, I would like to say that I know Mr Gafoor Ahmed Siddiqui is innocent. In fact, everyone who would have tried killing Tanveer is innocent! Tanveer Beg has rotted this family to the core! When we were calling the police by asking them to take care of the matter we were shut down! Why? Because clues! You were asking for clues when our testimonies were enough to give you all the clues possible. My wife who isn't able to come could have told you how many times Tanveer tried to kill her! But still the Indian laws didn't do anything to protect the good people and when fate allowed bad people to be punished, you want to punish a good man! The culprit isn't Mr Gafoor Ahmed Siddiqui but the Indian laws!"
"Today you're saying this but everyone know the relationship you have with Mr Gafoor Ahmed Siddiqui!" A lawyer accused Asad.
"No matter how much I hate this man, a man who tries to protect his family is always respectful, no matter what." Asad argued.
"Thank you Mr Khan. Now I would like to call Mr Haider Sheikh."
Haider walked towards Asad and patted his back before going to testimony.
"What can you say about Mr Siddiqui?"
"Even though I don't Mr Siddiqui for too long, I know that he's a honest man. Tanveer has always taunted him. She was a threat to this family and they fought, that's why he killed her. He just wanted to protect his own people." Haider lied and then the trial was over.
Asad and Haider went back home.
"I'm finding it more and more difficult Haider. Zoya isn't recovering and Siddiqui's fate is unknown.." Asad said and Haider hummed in response.
"I think he will be released, if we consider his status and his age."
"I hope to. No matter how bad he is, he doesn't deserve to pay for Zoya's fault." Asad said.
Back at Siddiqui mansion, the devil was smiling. Raziya was looking at the gun evilly. She was the one who put a real gun instead at the fake one when she discovered Zoya's plan. She remembered clearly Tanveer's face when she saw Raziya entering through the window and exchanging the guns.
"Raziya, what a smart one! Not only you kill Tanveer but now the poor little Zoya is shattered and Gafoor is out of the game!" She laughed evilly not knowing that she was recorded, she exposed all her crimes and how she forced Siddiqui into covering her sins.
Trial's day.
The judge was ready to accuse Mr Siddiqui of Tanveer's murder when Humeira barged in along with a emotionless Zoya.
"My father isn't the culprit! And nor is my sister Zoya, whom he tried to protect. The culprit is none other than Raziya Gafoor Ahmed Siddiqui!" She said and then started the recording. All the audience was shocked. But the police finally did its job by arresting Raziya. Zoya looked up on hearing Humeira calling her "my sister". Asad looked at Zoya who was completely lost. He was going to hug her but then turned to Gafoor who was finally free.
"Go and hug your daughter, she needs you." He said and Gafoor walked to Zoya.
"Zoya..I'm Gafoor Ahmed Siddiqui, your father." He said and she hugged him tightly.
"Abbu!" Zoya sobbed. "Why did you pay for my crime abbu!" She cried.
"You're not at fault Zoya. You're innocent!" He said kissing her forehead.
Asad walked to Zoya and she collapsed in his arms. Their couple had a hard time and she was thankful that they survived through this. They left to go home and at night, while Siddiqui had retired himself in his room, Haider and Humeira were talking in the living room.
"So you married me to hurt me?" She asked, trying so hard to stop her tears from falling.
"It was my first thought. But then I changed my mind. I used to live through my hatred towards your father..But now I live through my love for you Huneira..."
"Huneira?! How can you call me like this after a love declaration?!" She said a bit disappointed. But then he lifted her up and made her sit on his lap even though she fought back.
"Dear Humeira, you must know that I love you and it's just to taunt you! Even though I call you Huneira, you must be proud of it because no one will call you like this as no one will love you like I do.." Her tears finally streamed down her cheeks but it was happy tears. "I love you too Haider." She whispered kissing his cheek.
Zoya and Asad were in their room, just glooming in the nest of love they had created once they came back from the trial.
"Asad?"
"Hmm?"
"Do..Do you.. We didn't have our Walima.." She stuttered, feeling a bit shy. And he understood her state straight away.
"Mrs Khan? Are you feeling shy?" He teased her and she hid her face with her hands blushing furiously like a newly wed bride.
"If you want to, we can postpone it to next month." He proposed but she nodded her head no.
"I want it to be next week." She announced and Asad was the one blushing. They were 20 something years old, married for three months already but it seemed like they were just discovering the life of a married couple.
Zoya initiated the first move which was a mind blowing kiss. She just wanted to forget everything..Raziya, Tanveer...Everything that pulled them apart. The kiss finally led to the consummation of their marriage.
A year later.
Haider kissed Aman's forehead and held him against his chest while Humeira was looking at them lovingly. This year had been an amazing year. Gafoor had been forgiven by his family. Even Zoya forgave him for killing her mother after two weeks without talking to him. Talking about Zoya, she had given birth to Asya, a beautiful baby girl, a day before Humeira. After two months of therapy, she had finally got over Tanveer's death, living life fully, along with her Mr Khan.
Zoya and Asad were completely at peace and now their family finally had their happily ever after.
