I love the name Atharv Sujata - how proudly he carries his mother's name is just fabulous given the patriarchal society he lives in.

Kailash's biggest problem with Atharv may not be that he is poor but that he has no "pedigree" to speak of. Not just money, family name and position/respect in society are also very important for Kailash.

Sujata, on the other hand, faces humiliation from the people around her all the time and so must be Atharv, even though it has not been shown directly as yet. It was evident from the scene where he is hurt when Vividha taunts him about a father' respect.

Such a family/guy would be completely unacceptable to Kailash! Forget Kailash -- how many fathers would accept such a family for their daughters willingly?

That's an admirable quality of Atharv, he's not ashamed of not having his dad's name joined to his, instead he takes pride in bearing the name of the mother who brought him up alone. He doesn't care what the world thinks of it.
You are right about Kailash giving importance to pedigree and position but I think he is just as greedy about money because he associates it to status, the more money the higher the status.

As for how many fathers would accept him, why not if you consider the way he conducts himself, he's hardworking intelligent and most importantly knows the value of relationships. Any father wishing for his daughter's happiness and caring less about what people think would accept happily. Kailash is totally backward in that sense, he claims to love his daughters but in reality they are just a means for him to raise his own position and fulfill his selfish motives.

^WORD

Also, kailash himself become something from nothing only. Then how can he look down upon a hardworking guy who dreams. He's just too insecure of his own position. He doesn't want atharv to get everything in few years, just because he couldn't. He invested a lot of time.

He's bitter. Maybe the world made him that. He must have his reasons. But he needs to calm Down!

These are great admirable qualities and make him a great human and perfect guy for a girl. Unfortunately in the circles I move and live-in, pedigree is just as important. Such a marriage would make the girl a social outcast so a father would not consent to such a match.

My comment was based on my experience only - not about everyone, everywhere. 😆

I think it is all about a person's nature. Kailash is just mean and vicious.
