Sonu Nigam as a homeless in Mumbai streets. A social experiment done by Mr Sonu Nigam on the busy streets of Mumbai , singing his hit songs but in disguise .

Speaking about it, he told a leading portal,

"I went without any expectations, totally bereft of any awkwardness for the way I was looking and what I was about to subject myself to. For the first time, I was not me, the make-up was so good and authentic people standing so close to me couldn't recognise me. I was carrying the harmonium that my parents bought when I was born. It was all so humbling. And from such an unfamiliar zone, I managed to procure something. Gratitude, Grace and appreciation for what we have."

When Sonu Nigam sang on the streets...

A snapshot of the video which shows Sonu Nigam dressed as an old man in tatters in Mumbai.

On the streets of Mumbai, Nigam took the garb of an old man in tatters to dole out some of his songs as part of a social experiment.

Remember that old bearded man singing on the roadside? Have you ever turned around to take another look at him? Or listen to him? Well, if not, you might have missed your chance to listen to famed Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam!

On the streets of Juhu in Mumbai, Nigam took the garb of an old man in tatters to dole out some of his songs as part of a social experiment conducted by Being Indian', a popular Youtube channel. Titled The Roadside Ustaad' the video shows Nigam singing the famous song from the SRK-starrer Kal Ho Na Ho' and other ghazals which caught the attention of many passers by. Being Indian' tells us in the video that the reason behind this experiment was to find out how Indians react to beauty when it is just around the corner.'

After removing his costume, Nigam says, "It was a humbling experience. One man gave me Rs.12 after listening to my song. I have the rupee note framed now. I would like to meet him again and give back something."

This is not the first time a celebrity has hidden his identity. Remember the Joshua Bell experiment? The famous violinist played at a metro station in Washington DC and only one woman identified him and very few stopped to listen to his music.

Sad that this got no applause on IF 😒 I think it was an adventurous attempt by a celebrity singer. If the same guy was performing in a auditorium there would have been crowds milling up to pay huge amounts to hear him !!!!

That boy heart is so pure n he seems so good looking aswell

I did not recognised sonu and his voice is so unique. I wonder how people did not recognise his voice

Sad response to Sonu Nigam's interesting experiment ..had this been a thread for celebrity link up/break ups etc there would have been a queue to post here.
