Together again
IT isn't a surprise and yet it seems to filmdom's best-kept secret. Till now, that is. Our sources tell us actor Ranveer Singh and filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali are it again" for Bhansali's opus on Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji. Bhansali has already said his next release, in December 2017, will be the film inspired by the rogue ruler of the Khilji dynasty and his obsession for the King of Mewar's wife, Padmavati. What he hasn't yet confirmed is that his favourite hero Singh " who gave him mega successes like Goliyon Ki Rasleela: Ram Leela and Bajirao Mastani " has been signed on for it. Singh has also been confirmed for his second film with Zoya Akhtar, but he starts shooting as the anti-hero Alauddin Khilji first. Two years ago, Singh shot for Bajirao Mastani right after Akhtar's Dil Dhadakne Do " two antipodal characters but both to great acclaim. You bet he's excited with this double whammy coming his way again. This is what they mean by Lady Luck smiling twice.

IF there is such a thing as Sindhi royalty, the Chellarams would surely be blue blooded. The esteemed global family was bereaved last week, when Poonam Chellaram Waney passed away in Dubai from an illness. Her husband Gulu Waney is understandably distraught too. Poonam is the sister of Suresh Chellaram, who is married to Kavita Chellaram"one of the three famous Aswani daughters of society doyenne Indira Aswani. The Waneys ran a post restaurant in London and Dubai. Poonam and Gulu have no children but she leaves behind a great chartiable legacy that will miss her. She was a trustee of Mission for Vision in India and worked actively with Al Noor, an organisation that helped mentally disabled children in the Middle East, and K9, an animal shelter there.
Dirty dancers
THEY may claim to be buds, but their body language belies their relationship status. Shraddha Kapoor and Farhan Akhtar are quite the item, simply going by their dirty dancing at the success party of her latest film last week. Both were reasonably inebriated, and onlookers were aghast to see Kapoor and Akhtar light up the floor with their naughty moves. Of course her parents were there too. But as soon as Shakti Kapoor left, Shraddha beat a retreat too. She hopped into Akhtar's car and exited the party together. It seems her car followed them. The two don't seem to mind the tongue-wag since they have a film together coming up.

WE may have been used to seeing Sachin Tendulkar smash sixes in his halcyon days on the IPL pitch, but these days the former cricketer is teeing off at the golf course in Vizag " the current hub of the T20 league. Tendulkar, the icon of the Mumbai team, is in the Andhra City for the defending champions' IPL fixtures. Our friends in the Steel City caught him strolling through the greens of the East Point Golf Club. Tendulkar has developed a fancy for golf lately and has been to the Vizag course over the last few days, notwithstanding the soaring mercury levels in that part of the country. A club member tells us his shots covered quite a good distance and, of the 18 holes, he completed six of them with par scores. That is quite an achievement for a beginner, they say. Bat or club, it seems, you really can't stop the maestro.

A not-so-happening star, who should thank her stars she has a movie, is not on the best terms with the producer of her recent film. At a promotional gig in Dubai, unlike her co-actors, the lass refused to make an appearance. The local sponsor lost his cool and demanded compensation from the film's producer. The vexed sponsor even chased the film's team to the airport as they were returning to Mumbai. The lady actor was paid by karma via poor reviews for her performance in the film.
